Aisce: The Journey's End

Its been so many years since I started being a part of this journey. I feel tired, broken and lost though I guess those are more facts of where my life has lead to rather than just a simple feeling. So much has faded away so many faces have passed on to places where the living can not visit them and I wonder day in and day out if my struggles and fights have done anything.

I spent my life hunting monsters and killing daedra; fighting in battle after battle till my body was broken and battered. I would rest and then do it all again, but here I am 65 years old and new monsters come, new evils rise, and new heroes strive to stop them. I look at these young people that use to be me, god was I so foolish to think I could change it all if I fought hard enough.

The truth is after all this time I know I did so many great things and I should be proud, and still I just feel it wasn't enough. I couldn't take back all I did and I can't give back all I have taken. The war was the worst of it now I understand why Kaaos always despised the idea of the coming battles truly because of his experience. So many of my friends had me at the end of their blade and I had them at the end of mine and that is what I had to learn of war on my own.

The war had at least on good point and ideal which was the goal to remove impure and evil men from the throne. The problem everyone thought they were the hero when in truth even after we removed the evil we squabbled and killed one another for our countries under the guise our people knew better how to rule then all others.

I keep trying to find peace and respite so that for a moment in my life I can truly grasp the grand picture. It's funny with all my reading and all the knowledge I retained Kaaos was right I never was enlightened to the truth. So here I sit on the edge of Necrom on its great bridge looking out to the water for answers.

I feel a familiar presence approach and I turn to my left my hand on my sword a habit I still can't break.

"Father." I pause after speaking the word and look to him trying to separate myself from all the troubles of my mind for a moment.

"My son. We have been at this a long time haven't we?" Kaaos smiled as he spoke looking out onto the water.

Kaaos's age showed, but he still looked strong and handsome after all this time. I can only imagine what he looked like in his prime though that was a long long time ago.

Kaaos said with a slightly amused tone "I think Necrom is more beautiful now than ever. Coming back to after such troubles and trials it sinks in how wonderful it really is to be home." His eyes shined with joy as he looked upon necrom and I could not help, but feel the same as I watched.

I replied after a moment softly "It is beautiful to be home...at peace."

We stood there talking for a long time and as the hours passed on we both sat and gazed into the horizon as night began to come and the edge of the water slowly faded out of our view.

In that moment I realized that all that really mattered was we lived our life well and I exceeded what most would have thought possible of me. We beat our fates together and we made friends along the way that we could never forget. We saved so many people that may have been lost otherwise. I realized in that small moment how happy we both were with a simple sunset was the reason all these little acts of heroism even if they didn't rewrite history or change the course of the world they mattered.

Kaaos put his hand on my back as the sun set with a smile on his face and a few tears strolling down his cheeks. I turned to him and put my arm with is and my hand on his shoulder with a smile and tears rolling down my face.

At the same time we spoke "Aisce we are free at least."
................................................................................................................
A procession walked from the road onto the bridge that lead into necrom with two coffins in their possession. They were beautifully crafted both were white as snow with elaborate black inlay. The group was not composed of just dunmer, but strangely other races as well. It was a large procession and though they had a solemn demeanor it was still lighter than most the processions crossing into necrom. Conversation continued among them seemingly of the two white haired individuals who wore black garb. They talked that it was easy to decide upon white coffins with black inlay to suggest the idea that the whole was light even if the dark sometimes seeped in.

It was well thought and executed perfect to represent the friends that had passed that now must be carried to finally rest from all the journeys that had so plagued them. The procession spoke fondly of the two "Heroes" or "Fools with a death wish" it was hard to decide for them which one made more sense. Eventually the procession settled on true and faithful friends best described the two in these coffins.

After all their marching and reminiscing they had come close to the gates of necrom, and they paused to rest as others passed them by in the gates. As they waited they swore the saw two ethereal figures speaking before the word "Aisce" rung out. A gust of wind blue and the procession set the coffins down as they watched specs of brilliantly bright dust float into the night's sky.

"Rest well you earned it." A dunmer from the procession said before nodding and turning to the procession.

They all said a few words and those who would let themselves shed tears before entering the gates of necrom to put to rest Kaoos the old dunmer and Requies the most unpredictable breton you could know.

It may not be to terribly well written, but this is my send off to these characters and hope that it is a pleasant read. If I get the chance I will edit and post more stories of them and maybe even explain what happened. For now though goodbye to two creations of mine that I will dearly miss working on.

It was a brilliant story Maxx, though I could not enjoy reading it, after all, it is the death of two of the most brilliant characters on the RP forum. You may not read this, though I hope you do.

Glad you liked it and yea I still check on here when I get the chance so thank you very much. Maybe sometime I'll come back, but it will be awhile since most of my time is being spent in places where I have to devote my attention to other things.
