The winners of a recent private beta 'Guild Competition' have granted an interview, detailing their guild and some rather interesting information on Pvp. Take a look at the contest and, while the NDA may restrict some information, take all you can from what these two have told us. Council Leader Rook and PR Team Member Attorneyatlawl from the Guild, Havoc answered the following questions:
![]() Q. What can you tell us about the contest? A. Rook: "Well as you know the closed beta sessions are currently under NDA. So while we can’t talk about how great the graphics are, or how smooth the gameplay is, we did receive permission to announce that we were the winners of the Guild Contest in the recent Beta weekend." Q. And what does that give you? A. Attorneyatlawl: "Mostly it’s just bragging rights… once NDA is lifted we can speak more on the contest structure and our strategies and how stiff the competition was. We have been given permission to tell people that our guild name will be reserved for launch." Q. What elements of TESO is Havoc looking forward to the most? A. Both Attorneyatlawl and Rook: "Havoc’s primarily a PVP-oriented guild, however, we still enjoy many other aspects of the game both inside and out of it. Winning in Cyrodiil is going to take a strong, unified team. In-game, we are of course focused on Cyrodiil, but we also will be working to make sure we have a well-balanced roster of crafters, small-and-large-scale PVP leaders, and of course we enjoy playing through a good dungeon as much as anyone else does! Out-of-game, we’ll be working as a team to help solidify our Cyrodiil war efforts, communicating on voice chat, and running game nights, in addition to guide-writing and other efforts." Q. Are you able to tell us what type of skill was involved and what the goal was? A. Rook: "I wish I could say more, but Zenimax was clear. ‘You may say that you won the guild competition and that will reserve your guild name.’ I know we were exhausted by the end of it, the competition was very stiff.” Q. How do you think the PVP is going to be in this game? A. Attorneyatlawl: "Interesting, to say the least! Zenimax (ESO’s developers) have said it before, but it bears repeating: it will be hard to win with three factions at war in a large-scale environment like the game has to offer! The founding members of the undefeated Titan Alliance from Guild Wars 2 are in our guild, and we expect that this will be a similar challenge. Cyrodiil promises both large-scale territory control with sieges, as well as other typical smaller-scale fighting such as securing reinforcement routes, defending key structures, scouting out the opposing forces, and more. With how large Cyrodiil is, we’ll certainly have plenty to keep us occupied!" Q. Have any of the interviews with the game developers peeked your interest in particular? A. Attorneyatlawl: "I love the immersion that ESO will offer, but as far as interviews go, I’m a numbers guy. We recently saw an interview with Brian Wheeler by F2P.com speaking about the average time it would take to capture a keep with a force of 15 people, at around 10-12 minutes. There are going to be 18 keeps in all, with 6 in each Alliance’s territory, and they have said that a handful of people can effectively hinder the opposition by running interference at enemy respawn locations in certain keeps. Add in the large number of smaller objectives, and again, the scale of Cyrodiil as a whole, and I think we definitely have a very exciting game taking shape there." Q. What about you, Rook? A. Rook: "I absolutely would say the TESOF Elite Gamescon interview with Maria Aliprando, and not just because she’s super cute! She provided some further details as to how Emperorship will be attained by players, and how possible skill lines and permanent bonuses from having become Emperor may be retained by players even after being dethroned by potentially keeping those skills available and with your character in a less-powerful form. However, as she said, it’s going to be very difficult to win all 18 keeps, so it’s hard to say just how rare that title is going to be." Q. So, do you think a Havoc guild member has a shot at wearing the crown? A. Rook: “It’s within reach. Our alliance was undefeated in Guild Wars 2 because we recruit great people, train them, and work with other guilds with similar philosophies to build a powerful, beneficial alliance. As for ESO? We’re ready to raise Havoc." There you have it, the winners of the recent Guild Competition. Clearly there’s a lot of Cyrodiil to discover and a lot of teamwork involved to be successful there. While they still remain rather scanty with details, the little bits we start to accumulate are nothing if not interesting! I would like to thank Attorneyatlawl and Havoc personally for giving me this exclusive interview and being so compliant despite their NDA restrictions. To everyone else: I hope you enjoyed reading! |
