This is a mini-series of articles that act as a sort of interview with an "Outsider" or someone who has never played any Elder Scrolls games. I wanted an unbiased, untainted opinion so I sought after one! This little experiment will hopefully shed some light on what new players are thinking when they check out TESO. I'm showing this Outsider a slew of pictures, videos and information and asking them a series of questions pertaining to what they saw.
This is the last topic of four which are as follows: 1) Characters and Graphics Progression 2) Storyline and Alliances 3) Cinematic Trailers and Gameplay 4) TESO in General ![]() Seeing as this was the ending of the interview, I had nothing more to show to the Outsider, rather, I just asked them general questions. As always, feel free to answer them too! Q. Do you believe TESO looks like a fun game? A. "Yes.” Long pause “I can see people spending an incredible amount of time on this game. It’s obvious why everyone is excited about it. They seem to have thought of a lot if not everything. I mean, I’m sure it’s not everything but they’ve certainly added a lot and it looks addicting.” Q. Is there another game it reminds you of at all? Why? A. “The only game it really reminds me of is what you’ve shown me of the other Elder Scrolls games. It certainly has a different style. I guess if I had to look at a totally separate game I could say the character from Assassin’s Creed reminds me of the guy in the cinematic trailer... Or at least what I saw of Assassin's Creed.” Q. Can you give a brief description of the story in your own words? A. “I know that because of the antagonistic character taking over the world, the world’s been divided into three alliances, one of which is unlikely. The one with the Nords, Argonians, and Dark Elves was formed through hardships and everyone is striving to taking the thrown.” Q. Would you like to change any opinions on alliances or whatnot after seeing and hearing everything in the videos? A. “My alliance choice would probably change. I think I would rather go with the Elves. Even though I said I liked how democratic my original choice was, I feel like there’s more of a chance for upheaval. I like the Elves’ strengths. To put it basically, they seem more like the 'CIA' they look like could come in undetected and be able to sneak back in and sneak back out without anyone else realizing it. I still think the High Elves are snooty though.” HAHA Q. Would you play this game? A. “I would absolutely try it. I would suck because I don’t have the background of playing but I would try it.” Q. Anything else to add? A. “I appreciate you showing me this. I have more appreciation for the video gamers. I realize the difficulty and the concentration and the practice that it all takes. I can understand why, outside of being on the computer when you’d meet a gamer there’s a connection. It’s like a sports player who comes across another player of the same sport from a different country. It’s a common interest and it really is eye-opening.” *Single tear*, it's the end! What a heartfelt last statement. I really am pleased as to how this all turned out and I hope you, the readers, are equally as pleased! It was personally fascinating to see the Outsider's original choices change and be molded pending on the media I exposed them to. They even tipped their hat to the gaming community! Success! Was there anything I missed or you would have liked for the Outsider to voice their opinions on? Let me know! |
