I think so, but i have no clue havent really been keeping up with the articles/interviews, however an arena battle where players could actually sit down and watch like in chivalry medieval warfare, would be awesome.

I don't know either but have seen no mention of it. I can't see how they could leave it out though? I wonder if we can duel?

Arena will probably be 2v2 and 4v4.
I also exited about it, and it probably will come at some DLC, its rare to see PvP events like Arena at release.
And yes you can duel, at some video from this new press release i heard some one mention you had option to duel, but i dont remember which one it was.
If its possible to suggest, i think it would be really exiting if we could haw once a month Grand Arena Tournament event, on Sundays. Lets say over 100 teams get to join then true elimination prosses we get to watch last 8-16 fight it out, and we can watch it from arena seats, they can phase or even instance outside players who will be watching. And ofc best part wining team will get Trophy and world recognition.
Personally i dont see my self entering this tournament as i am not hardcore PvP i lack the skill for it, but it would be great enjoyment to assist this fights from Viewer seats with my Avatar, instead of some video.

NO there will NOT be any pvp but cyrodiil this has been answered time and time again.
Also id like to mention here that arena is a terrible and lazy PvP format.

I've heard that they will implement instanced pvp in the future. They want people to focus on Cyrodiil in the beginning but they will be implementing instanced pvp later on.

Arena is a simple format but, the fighting/competitiveness is great. I think arena's are extremely intense and competitive. Your just speaking your own opinion.

if you want arena combat, dont play an MMO.
WoW arena is a joke and thats the best it ever got in the MMO scene.

Also no. They said they will not have any sort of instanced pvp.

i AM a pvp player primarily.
But not in an Arena.
The game is NOT balanced for that. And this is what you see in any game that has that feature, that it struggles heavily with its balancing.

PvP in MMORPGs is not about that.
It is about organization, its about mindgames, its about knowing when and how to strike.
In short its more like actual warfare than just an arena based game.

Whatever man, there is a large amount of people who enjoy arena's. If you don't like arena's simply don't play them.

Also you have to understand that arena's have been and will remain simple. They're supposed to be a gladiator style fight. No other objectives other than to kill the 2-3 people on the other team. Each team will have to rely on strategy and skill to win. Its a simple system but its fun, intense, and competitive. I love having that adrenaline rush when playing. Arena matches can last anywhere from 1 min to 30 min or longer. Matches could be a standstill. Any mistake against a tough opponent can instantly get you or a teammate killed. I love the rush when you get the window of opportunity and you kill an opposing player. Sometimes it even gets down to 1 player on each team remaining. The rush of watching your teammate hoping that he can pullout the victory or being the last man standing with the pressure of knowing you the only chance for victory and its up to you. I love the intensity of arenas and hope they do get implemented into ESO.

I may not be a RPer but I don't go out and trash it. I just let them be as long as it doesn't affect my gameplay experience. So whats wrong if ESO has arenas? Nobody is going to force you to do arenas.

The same thing applies to arena's. You have to wait for the opportunity to strike. For example focusing massive dps onto one target then quickly stun the healer so he cant heal his teammate. Its not a mindless fight there is a lot of strategy in arenas. You can also play mind games in arena's as well.

Its not about what i want.
its what about is confirmed. nameley that there is no arena.

And would you dispute that arena is not good game design? would you?
Its not particulary well thought out at all.
its just a duel with more people. That always ends up gimping some classes in it.

Arena isn't an amazing design but its still fun for such simplicity. Its the gameplay of the players that make it greater than what it really is.

Nope, no structured pvp of any sort. Just seige stuff and the rest of Cyrodiil.

I understand the desire for structured PvP, arena and BGs. GW2 did it well and games can be balanced for it, but it is a pain. Eventually you see that when games care about delivering good balance in PvE and PvP that they start having to make certain skills react differently in PvP and that can be the pain, having to have two combat teams for balancing like that.

I would never accuse structured PvP of being a lazy addition to games. Attempting to balance classes and compositions in small scaled structured settings is much more difficult then throwing everyone at one another in large scale siege battles. Siege warfare is lazy development in comparison, in the same way that raiding is a lazy way to do PvE. Throwing a large party against AoE when instead you could focus on a more small group/specialized form of PvE where one person's death matters so much more.

Lazy is the wrong word entirely when talking about the implementation of structured PvP. I can see why it would be called "simple" when you look at the objectives. It is a deathmatch and strategy just means less in a deathmatch. Still it is good to offer variety like that. Deathmatch, CTF, Siege, just different ways of doing the same thing, PvP.

Heheh ... even the original Bethesda Softworks game of ARENA ~ which was going to be a hero gladiator going around & fighting in different city arenas throughout Tamriel ~ got scrapped for a more inclusive world-view encompassing game with multiple classes allowed to roam the continent at will. It was expansive and fun to play.

So I really doubt that this their return through ZOS to the continental offering of TESO is going to include a return to the restrictive combat system of Arena-fighting. As Sordak points out, there is certain racial balancing needed for Arena-fighting that will gimp them for PVP, PVE normal play. Save yer verve for Cyrodiil and dual-challenge if someone pisses you off.

TESO - - Multiplayer: "M'aiq does not know this word. You wish others to help you in your quest? Coward! If you must, search for the Argonian Im-Leet, or perhaps the big Nord, Rolf the Uber. They will certainly wish to join you." M'aiq the Liar.

"Va Khaj Dar - Khajiity's united? M'aiq will join!" M'aiq the Liar
