they spat this in our face today. as if that was a sufficient blurb of information to throw after about one month of nothing.

What does it say? bugger all as the brits like to put it.

The only two interresting things are: Staffs aperently have different trees for the different spells attached to them meaning that fully mastering staffs as a whole means youll have to use various kinds.

The second one beeing on avoidance tanks. Basically they said: What? avoidance tanks? NOPE.

The avoidance tank bit was more like, "well, you'll do much, much better as a traditional heavy armor tank, but it you want to, you could build a mediocre tank in light armor if you stack health to compensate -- but if you stack health in heavy armor, you'll always be better".

exactly and in that also completeley missing the point.
And further making it clear that tankign will be meatshield tanking. means that i will probably not play PvE at all.

Well making a light armor tank likely will have the benefit of being more mobile, using less stamina while attacking, or being able to dodge more easily. However, I don't know how a light armor tank could "hold the line" like a meatshield heavy armor tank if you need to prevent forward movement of another tank. I guess find a way to be an effective stunner/paralysis user.

did you play Tera? There best tank is "Warrior" class, basically he dual-wield light armor with avoidance, the thin is ITS really hard to play because you haw to manege your resources a lot, but it is still considered best tank.

Yet again no real info in "Ask us anything, except that or that and that.", i loved that part when they basically put questions with answers in them, like : You've stated what the Ebonheart Pact symbols mean, but what do the Aldmeri Dominion symbols represent? I'm guessing the Khajiiti symbol means Masser, Secunda, and the mysterious third moon that only appears when the Mane is born. As for the Bosmeri symbol, I'm guessing it represents either the Green Pact or Elden Grove. – By Andrew Shuter

Good guesses. The Khajiiti symbol depicts the Two Moons and the Cat-folks’ claws, while the Bosmeri symbol does in fact represent the Green Pact.

I know what you two are saying, @Ewan @lugnut360 , but that isn't the vibe we got them from ZoS here. I hope its equally viable, but they painted it in a pretty negative light.

basically they said: there is only meatshield tanking. and if you want to be a competetive meatshield tank you have to use heavy armor and stack into HP.

The avoidance of releasing any useful info is really starting to annoy people. Right now they aren't hyping there game at all. SWTOR did a great job of releasing new content every week. By now ZOS should have released a lot more info on classes, gameplay, pvp, etc. So I'm wondering is there something they don't want people to see or is this game no where near ready to be released.

Can't rule out light armor + armor spells for tanking

thats irrelevant because you could sitll cast those on heavy armor.
In MMORPGs you are either 100% competetive or you are trash. thats how it goes.

the point of an evasion tank is not that a light armoured can play a tank like a heavy armoured does, but play tank differently, by dodging attacks.

The best way to approach light armor Tank is make him based on Avoidance, that means giving him extra dodge type of escpae ability, and reducing stamina costs, and increasing stamina pool. That means when Heavy armor meat shield tank takes that one hit because wasting stamina to dodge is points, a light armor tank would use one of his many dodges and with reduce stamina cost. This is the way to make light armor tank, and its what i was trying to say. But i really doubt they will take this approach, i dont know what worse knowing it can be done and it works because other games done it, or considering the fact that they just dont care or they dint explore all possible options.
Not to mention a light armor tank would had a choice to duel wield or use light 2h sword, which can block standart atacks, but would macke him more mobile and compensate his lack of "tank and spank" approach.

I also believe this "light armored tank" will be pure avoidance, with the right perks, and amount of HP..it is possible. But can't really know for sure until the beta. I know people will be wanting to test this out. Also, my friend seems to think this also leans towards the "cloth/mage tank"...I badly wish that wasn't true..but with the right magic skills, and again health..it may..or can be done.

I'm also very glad to hear about the sorted inventory...finally a MMO I won't OD on my OCD.

Heavy armor will negatively affect your stamina and magicka costs iirc, so it could be more viable on a light armor tank.

I understand your frustration because ZOS hasn't been throwing us very many bones lately. And the ones we have been getting seem to be the same old ones we've been getting all along. I too am getting tired of Milkbones and would love to have a nice juicy steak bone. As for when we might get more juicy info, I think it's safe to say "in the coming weeks and months" ™.
