Hello. I'm a noob here. I'd like to play as a bartender/trader. Is there any chance this will be in game? I'd like to hang out in a pub and chat and offer general goods. Of course I would occasionally leave the pub to swing my axe at draugr.

You could stay in a tavern, and be a provisioner/alchemist. Even still you couldn't sell them there, you would have to do that at a guild keep.

Thanks for the info. Will there be any reason for players to visit a Tavern?

I'm not expecting TESO to be a sandbox, but I am curious to know if a roleplaying environment will be supported.

You can't hide In that tavern, I will come In there and drag your drink serving carcass out and play whack a mole with my 2 Handed sword.

It would be nice if you could buy drinks at a tavern and their be a visual drunkness effect on your character. Like everyone would know your character is clearly drunk.

Food will give some long term buffs I assume, so there will be some incentive for players to go into a tavern. Roleplaying will certainly be supported from what I have heard.

Cool. I wonder if we can farm. I liked the farms in Skyrim, but I'd like to sew my own.

No, I'm not sure. In the MMO's that I've enjoyed the most, I spend about half of my time with non-fighting aspects of the game. I enjoyed Oblivion and Skyrim, but I get tired of living in dungeons and doing fetch quests.

Actually I will be extremely shocked if they do not include a trade feature or a cash on delivery in the mail system. With limits of trade being forced interior to guild I struggle to believe that doesn't mean you're cut off from trading with players you meet.

Correct. Single points of market like auction houses are limited to guild stores, but player to player trading is always in MMO's. Goods can still be sold player to player, just like back before auction houses were even a thing

I am waiting for the MMO that will allow me to be whatever I want to be and really delve into RP without being forced into combat. In Morrowind, I could go around and charm every enemy and never kill a thing, I built a house and grew alchemy ingredients. It was all very peaceful. TES 4 and 5 didn't allow this because they were tapping into the console RAD TEEN market. Fine. And I already know that it's not possible in ESO. but here's to dreaming about Bethesda returning to their roots in TES 6

Lol. No. I want to escape from real life. And when I do, I don't want 100% hack-n-slash.

I'm sure there are inns for you to RP as a bartender, even if you can't sell drinks. I remember in SWTOR there was a cantina on Nar Shaddaa who had a bartender, Ez'rab or something I think he was called, anyway, every local knew him, everyone knew he was the owner of that joint. I doubt there was a single actual trade taking place there - it was all /emote and it worked out great. Really busy place. So go for it! :)
