Faction & Race:
Daggerfall Covenant (Orc)
Given name - Bludghul
Family name -Gro Khazor
Titles - Berserker of Orsinium
Sex - Male
Age - 54
Race - Orc
Faction - Mercenary
Appearance - Tall, Heavy Build, Wears Heavy Armor, Black Hair, Side burns, Blue Eyes. Wields two or one axe/s. Grey Skin.
Personality - Social Drinker enjoys drinking in a good company of friends. He enjoys making jokes and thinking they are good when in fact they are really bad. Not good on stealthy operations.

Social Background/Backstory - Born in the Dragon-tail Mountains, once he reached a grown age he was challenged by his brother who he killed. He became chief but got bored of his harem and tribe. So left for Daggerfall where he met a Breton who offered him a job as a merc. He has worked with the mercenaries since he was 19 he has traveled all over High Rock hunting trolls and werewolves and other beasts. He now lusts to explore the rest of Tamriel. He now also is hunted by the law for a murder of a Breton noble who had called all Orcs filth, so now he is eager as ever to escape High Rock.

Best Memory - His many adventures across High Rock. Many good memories.

Worst Memory - He feels guilty for killing his brother for chief when he later rejected his clan and his position. Which means his brother died for nothing.

Skills - Known as a famous beserker and great warrior in the art of using his shield and axe. Or using two axes at once.

Challenges for the Character - He is bad at sneaking or being stealthy in anyway. Because of his size and the fact that he enjoys to talk. He has trouble fitting into this new alien society where a ruler can be weak and without skill. He was brought up in a Orc tribe where the strongest rules.

Birthsign - The Warrior
Religious Views - Malacath
Politics Views - Who ever pays more.

Ok, this is good for a first draft, when writing from challenges for the character it usually comes down to three parts, physical, emotional and social. the challenge that you have put is that he isn't good at sneaking which doesn't seem too much of a problem because he's a berserker.
you have however hinted an emotional issue in your background, (and maybe even social) your character killed a breton noble for being called orc filth. this could show that your character has anger issue which is emotional, with him killing a noble could show your character has a hard time fitting into this new society you have came from an orc tribe, the strong rule, the weak die. now you're in a place where power has a totally different meaning this would be a social issue. I would think of another physical issue because it goes without saying that an orc berserker isn't good at sneaking.

Can you please help me out getting a good emotional and physical challenge? I can't think up of any good ones.

what i do is i first write a characterisation of my character. i make mine HUGE but you don't have to. a characterisation is writing down in note form EVERY-thing about your character. whats it's gender, name, race, sexuality, wealth, religion ... basically every small detail you can think of.

so for example i make a breton, male, his name is edward, he is very wealthy, he is gay, he believes in the eight, he lives in high rock and so on and so on. from all of this information you have created then think of the back story which fits in with your characterisation. so for edward my backstory will be: as a child he was very spoilt, seeing though as he was an only child his parents gave him his every desire, he has no regards for others and sees himself above all others.

thats a tiny back story but you see my meaning. now scan the back story you have created and see if there is any issues that stick out. here i have a breton noble who is a only child and is gay! this would displease his parents because the family line would end with him! so there we have a social issue. emotionally he as we can see from the backstory is very snobby and the phyically because he is a spoilt noble he himself wont be able to fight very well (but can hire people to fight for him)

see i have got three challenges for a tiny back story! now if you find it hard to find challenges in your back story think of questions to ask yourself. so for your orc you could ask: what does he think of his allies? what does he think of the other races? does he miss being a tribal orc? how well has he adapted to society? these are mere examples, but if any question you ask youself gets a some what intresting answer keep asking yourself why?

so i will do an example again. how well has he adapted to society? :not very well: why? :because he dislikes how these other races do things: why? :because he is a orc at heart and is finding change hard!:

and there we go a challenge! a social one, but achieved from looking though your characters eyes and asking why? again and again intill you get to the source of the challenge. hope this helps :)

Who me or my Character? My Character did not want to be part of DC he values money, drink, and good company and does not care for politics. I left DC because I couldn't decide what race to play. But now I'm all set.
