Pretty sure I've seen this in released pictures, so it isn't breaking the NDA.

Why do the Bosmer have antlers? To be honest, I don't really mind it -fits pretty well with the aesthetic, and it's optional, so if you hate it you don't have to use it- but I can't think of a way that it could be justified, lore-wise.

Thoughts?

Wait what? I mean... Wait what?

Death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better
Than facing fearful odds,
For the ashes of his fathers,
And the temples of his Gods."

These were in Morrowind.
And the near black pupils.

I'm REALLY glad the Boiche have these back!
And they originated from Y'ffre I think.

The Monomyth states that purist Altmer feel the Bosmer sullied their bloodlines by "taking Mannish wives". This is probably because they not only literally intermingled with human and beast races, but because they bowed to nature based gods like Y'ffre, who are more tied to Creation and Mortal existence than the more Aetherial Elven gods like Auriel.

MK's early concept art for Morrowind's Bosmer also depicted them with various bestial features ranging from small horns to literally having boar heads. This is probably a reflection of what the Altmer would consider "racial impurity" among the Bosmer - embracing the static nature of Nirn over the Aldmeri ideal of the immortal spirit. Since they're more bestial and earth-related and less concerned with esoteric concepts like Anuic descent, their bodies also reflect this more animalistic side. Thus many Bosmer are depicted as vaguely bestial. This is also represented in some of their spiritual ceremonies like the Wild Hunt, wherein thousands of Bosmer warriors simultaneously become werebeasts and overrun the enemy forces.

antlers could be handy... like a german spiked helm

Which is more difficult: To do as you wish? Or to have power and choose not to?

They're not really antlers... just small bumps of bone beneath the skin on their foreheads.

It could probably work pretty easily lore-wise because before the green pact the Bosmer were organisms without one solid form. Their bodies were constantly changing in a chaotic state then they made a pact with Y'ffre which caused their form to be "anchored", which resulted in their current form. A wild hunt is when the Bosmer gather in a form of ceremony and their bodies return to the chaos of what they used to be before the green pact in which they will kill anything nearby, including each other.

Pilaf's theory isn't too bad either.

yeah i noticed this too during character creation. the "head adornment" option had a couple that gave the bosmer horns. they werent as subtle as "little bone protrusions" - they were straight up antlers albeit smaller than say a full size deer or an elk or something.

pretty interesting, havent gotten to the Bosmer yet in shoddycast's lore series hope it talks about them in that.

I promise you that it doesn't matter whether Shoddycast put anything in his videos or not. You're not going to learn a single useful thing from him you can't learn from one of us. In fact, he's very often just wrong because he uses flawed sources like TES Wiki and presents their claims as some sort of undisputed fact. That's simply not the best way to present any evidence or data about anything, ever. I watch his videos for their entertainment value, but I didn't become proficient at ES lore by watching youtube videos and neither should you.

You seem very passionate about your low opinion of Shoddycast. I have been watching the lore series to touch up on things that i had forgotten (i played Morrowind back in 2003 and Oblivion in 2006) so its more of building back that framework of the lore that i had begun to lose.

its supplement man. not law.

I'm no lore purist, but I have no problem with the antlers, infact, I like them. Since perhaps only a few will use that adornment, it will make for some diversity among the Bosmer and make it feel like there's a struggle for control of their form.
Will they go more or less beastly.

Lore is pretty open to interpretation, and also, some of the presentation may seem like its claimed as undisputed fact because each lore session (especially the racial and cultural ones) are presented from the point of view of that race/culture. I think its gives a nice little idea of how that particular group views the world around them
