Im tempted to create an old soldier with injured leg (arrow in the knee, obviously) and for that purpose never run in entire game, always just walk even in combat.

Not my original idea, had a friend tank with this concept and it often led to hilariously funny moments as whoever had aggro had always run to him, never expect him to appear nearby quickly

Walk as in full-backpack walk? Or walk as in no sprinting?

What about horses? Or does the knee injury prevent the character from vaulting up onto their horse? :P

Interesting idea but I think I may find it verrry annoying after a few hours!

It was in warcraft so non-sprit was the only option, still have to say there were some very fun moments with that, he was definitely special. Mounts were fine, it was an old injury, just preventing him from run.

Still suppose it does require insane discipline to pull off something like that

Well if you did it in like.. a RP-group of people who want a dungeon done, who know your characters injury, then it'd definitely avoid the problem of annoying random people.

Hell, a dungeon could get much more interesting the second people need to consider RP alongside PVE, roleplaying their injuries after mob pulls and then soldiering on, and such.

This is always challenging. I remember one roleplay community where someone had a character who was a mute. He always stuck to it, it made his roleplay and gameplay incredibly slow but the fact he remained consequent made it all the more credible. I personally would not have the patience for it, at least not on my main character xD But hey, for an alt, give it a try :D

I'm sorry to just jump in here, but I found this very interesting. I'd like to know more about this mute character. What method did he use in order to convey his mutism? :O

It is some time ago now, but I believe he carried a little slate around his neck and some chalk to write down single words when he wanted to point out something, other than that it was nodding, shaking his head, and pointing at objects.

Interesting. But I wonder why he didn't just use sign language. o_O

Because that was invented in the 1700s silly! Smiling

We're at least a couple thousand years before all of that...

Well, the man you could ask (Tolkien) is sadly no longer among us, but I think he had his reasons ;)

I remember doing a mute character, and he usually accompanied a friend of mine with a twisted humor. It was amusing when you couldn't really communicate besides simple emotes, and my friend there most often miss-translated them into something... Other than I assumed he would. Created an excellent humor for people around us.

"Why is he pointing at me and then at the mountains"
Turn your face towards your friend
Your friend smirks and goes
"Nay ma'am, he wasn't pointing at you, he was pointing at your breast, and simply attempted to complement you by using those mountains as a figure of speech."
And all you can do is "...."

This is too good. I literally laughed out loud when I read this. Reminds me of a player that I knew from my old guild in WoW. He always had a wit like that which made the game really fun.
