I dont know if this belongs in this section, or the reaction this post will get, but im incredibly interested at how much you all know about the elder scrolls in general! I want to see 2 things in the comment section from my fellow elder scrolls fans, and simply want to see that some people are just as involved in its community as i am.

Can you give a summary of the major events of the elder scrolls games? (only major points)
AND

can anyone give a detailed opinion on what guild or faction they think is best?

When the questions are anwered i hope to discuss your views on the happenings of the games and why you favour the faction or guild you do. I am eagerly awaiting your replies

Ebonheart Pact
Argonian
Hi I think your in the right section and I know a lot, but I would not say I'm the best at lore, but if a ncp said a daedric princes name or something I would get what they're talking about. I feel like TESO is maybe underselling their game, because people who played the pre-beta say that the looks of the game where a lot better then what the gameplay trailers looked like. Getting back on track my favorite
Guild would most likely be The Dark Brotherhood and followed by a close Mages Guild this would be in Skyrim by the way.And I chose The Dark Brotherhood because of the people and the quests that you get and the small side contracts you get from Nazir, I like his name was?
And mostly for the great story line. And then the Mages Guild Or Collage of Winterhold was their for about the same reasons and I love WARNING SPOILERS- the robes that you get-SPOILERS ENDED.

And the faction I would think your talking about the 3 factions from TESO mine is the Ebonheart, because they look like their the only ones who are fight because they have to I mean the aldmeri dominion are fight because they say they want to rule over Temrial because the other races are a dumb breed of people and are the weaker race and that the Elves are the dominant race.
And the Daggerfall people are saying that the humans should rule and that the Elves and dumb.
Then theirs the Ebonheart Pact who are together because the other factions are have war the killing and enslaving their own people
and plus I love the argonians!

I hope you can read all of my post and I hope it was not to long but you say give a detailed opinion so, yea Thank you.

Long live the Pact, and Death to le Queen

Well Tamriel is the continent on Nirn which we all know and love.
(Some say that means Dawn's Beauty in the altmer language though I can not find citation if someone has it please link it to me lol)

The heavenly bodies including Nirn it self as well as its moons masser and secunda are refered to as Mundus
I will avoid Anu and Padomay and the creation myth cause it is well a myth and meant to be that way and mainly keep this to facts.
So Lorkhan whether by men viewed as the creator of all things though that excludes redguards who have a more elven view which would be that he is a trickter and traitor betraying the original vision of existence.
It is believed due to him the gods sacrificed a part of themselves the divines or aedra and those who did not are the daedra though of course there are conflicting myths though one this is in common the missing god shows up in all religion good or bad as well as Akatosh the time god and they and their kin set the stage for this world to begin

I will skip ahead through most of the mythic eras though they contain interesting bits of information though I will say it is thought that daedra can not die in any way and are believed to retain full power where as aedra do not though again there may be contradictory evidence.

There are multiple continents on the world of Nirn we have Yokuda, Akavir, Pynadonea, Tamriel, and Atmora (Aldmeris existence is questioned)

The hist are the oldest inhabitants of Nirn and some believe they have been there as long as the planet has existed the Argonians and Khajit though not quite that old were there when both elves and men arrived much to their surprise.

By the first era every group had arrived and many began to splinter for example and fractured off into multiple sub races and groups
The elves had the Altmer who lived in Alinor
The ayleids who resided in the white gold tower and severed ties with their cousins in Alinor
The Chimer in Morrowind
The Dwemer who none know if they were already on tamriel or not
The Snow Elves? I am not sure, but I believe they were all, but gone by this point cause the nords/atmorans controlled skyrim
The Bosmer establish the Camoran Dynasty in Valenwood
Men I am not quite sure about how quickly they split up and they also interbreed so much its hard to keep track all I know for certain is no redguards quite yet

Later in the first Era the Ayleids end up dealing with a slave revolt from A human named Alessia They lose most of their holdings and eventually even lose the white gold tower which they had used to fuel their great power
Clan Direnni begins take take hold in high rock through many questionable means they are also the only remaining high elven ruling family in these now mostly human lands
They come under attack from many enemies look for more details on it interested.
The king borgia of skyrim dies and the war of sucession begins from 1E 369 it does not end for many years 1E 420 when Olaf-one-Eye is crowned king of skyrim
The nords who had earlier in the era invaded morrowind are driven out by the combinded forces of Dwemer and Chimer both these cultures new council and new found peace create a great time of prosperity where both begin to flourish more than ever
Shortly after this elven power in high rock
The war of the first council takes place as Red Mountain erupts the sun is hidden by ash for a year
The battle of red mountain occurs and Nerevar perishes and the events build to the formation of modern morrowind
The redguards appear
And then at then a bunch of other stuff I can not recall until there is a dragon break in this era

That is the first era I decided to do it cause I really like how much goes on its one of the most chaotic and crazy anyways I know that is probably really long and some of it may be a little off so sorry for that, but hopefully I got it mostly right.

As for which faction I feel they all have their benefits and hindrances though for my personal beliefs I like that Jorunn is more of a reluctant/leader because he has to be rather than cause he wants to be. I like that he is a rather laid back guy who likes music and drinking and in the end I just like the EP is military wise the most adept and or powerful in many ways. Though the orcs are great warriors they are small in number and though the redguards are great warriors they do not always have the command and or numbers to support as large an army as the nords can call for. The argonians are some of the best if not the best race at guerrilla warfare and the dunmer are a very versatile race with a magical affinity who also know the darker and more sinister sides of how to win a fight without battles. Personally I like a group that has a strong military, but a leader who does not abuse it so I kind of side with them though Emeric would probably be the best for trade and economics and maybe even equality where Aryenn (Hope i got her name right) Would be good for well thought out decisions and greater stability due to well thought out and well laid out plans.

As for guilds its a toss up I don't really like the mages guild they are too involved in things that don't really involve them plus I like necromancy you can't find what you don't understand in my opinion. I love the darkbrotherhood and personally think they are far from evil I think they are a necessary form of chaos that keeps the world turning and changing. They have some of the most interesting and best characters to me and a close second would be the college of winterhold who actually redeemed how I felt about mage groups. They are isolated and as long as study is productive they support it and that is something I can totally get along with.

The Tes lore are so huge that sum up all major events would take many many hours lol :) I am very tired and busy so I will only write very Little, if you like to know something more in detail, feel free to ask me. I am looking forward to discuss the history with you all :D

I will also avoid the Anu and Padomay myth. Lorkhan managed to trick the Aedra into making Nirn (therefore he is viewed as a creator of al thing by men and a trickster and evil traitor by the elves that he betrayed the original existence and broke their Connection with Atherius), after it was done, the Et'ada, like the Ehlnofey and Hist entered Nirn. They lived there, for example the Ehlnofey of Aldmeris (the Elven ancestors) and the wandering Ehlnofey (the human ancestors, possibly the Beast races ancestors aswell). They fought a war wich was said to have changed the continent. Anyhow the Ehlnofey became the other races

First the Elves are the rulers of Tamriel. The Dwemer ruled Morrowind, and large areas underground. The Aldmer separates into many Groups, the Altmer on the Summerset Isles, the Bosmer establishes the Camoran dynasty in Valenwood, the Chimer moves to Morrowind. the Falmer lives in Skyrim Before the humans came, and wee driven out a while after the humans came. The Ayleids rule Cyrodiil and makes the humans there their slaves. Also there is a race called Maormer (sea elves) who live on the Island of Pyandonea, but they are not so important now.

Then the Atmorans arrive from Atmora. The Falmer gets driven from Skyrim in the early first Era by the Atmorans after they have sacked the city Saarthall in the Night of tears. The Dwemer disappears in the battle of the Red mountain, in the War of the first council wich lasted from 1E 688 too 1E 700(the first council was a council of the Dwemer and Chimer when they made Peace with eachother after years of wars and skirmishes. After the Peace they had both flourished and there were prosperity.) Nerevar dies in the battle and the Tribunal takes Power after have made themselves living gods. A Slave rebellion led by Alessia overthows the Ayleidsin Cyrodiil, who had made the Humans there their slaves, when the lose the White Gold Tower they lose the most of the Power they had left.

The Nord king Borgas gets killed and the war of succesion begins in 1E 369 it ends around fifty years later, in 1E 420 when Olaf one-eye is crowned king.

The Breton become the dominant force in High Rock after the Direnni Clan who used to rule High Rock after they made the humans there their slaves, lose their Power.

the Redguards arrive in the later first Era after their home continent of Yokuda have snak in the sea, the Ra Gada, the warrior wae clears a path for the rest of the Redguards to safely arive in Tamriel, and by path I mean slaughtering evryone in their path, leaveing no survivors and drive out the Orcs from Hammerfell.

The Imperials rule Cyrodiil, they are decendants of the humans who overthrew the Ayleids.

There happens an incredible ammount of things wich I dont have time to write down, ask or search for it if you want to know anything speacial in detail.

I Think that the DC is the best faction, they have the 2nd best mages who also have diplomatic skills, the best warriors, and the best smiths who also is great warriors, and they are led by a skilled leader. It seems to me like the ultimate combination, though we lack a bit in stealth :P

I have never really cared for assasins or thieves, and not so much fighters either. The mages Guild have Always been my favorite, I dont mind in being involved in many things, and to be able to study magic in Peace with them is great :)

Now I g2g as I said do anyone want to know more about something please ask me :D

It also shows they are not untouchable which i like

Thanks man and Absolutely no one in the series is untouchable even the emperors themselves in fact are well still targets which is nice. The dark brotherhood though is one group I think that will always find a way to regroup and persist no matter what. Several times they have been seemingly wiped out and yet like a weed they grow back quickly and furiously taking hold wherever the opportunity arises.

I really do try to do my research so I appreciate that compliment anyways though I think most everyone really likes the brotherhood because they really have such an in depth and diverse group of people. They are remarkably loyal and devote and show no signs of racial bias or prejudice which in a lot of ways puts them ahead of most in this world so in the end its hard to judge them to harshly especially once your in their midst.

Now I g2g as I said do anyone want to know more about something please ask me :D
is there a certain site or source you get your info from. Although I knew some of this already i again learned a few things and am very interested on learning more so if there is somewhere id love to check it out. Love seeing that your into the history as much as i am!!
Multiple places really. First and foremost I still have my guide to the empire from oblivion lol which I read pretty religiously in highschool. I use both The Imperial Library and The UESP wiki. The first is really the more reliable of the two partially because it is a .info and is really focused on only the absolute definitive of what they know. The UESP wiki can be questionable though it is usually pretty accurate though you have things that it can tend to lean on cause even the in game lore is biased so yep. The UESP wiki is good especially for it's time lines thats how I know the order of most of that stuff honestly is because they have a good set up for timelines and so on that is pretty easy to digest and retain.

The imperial Library has a lot more hard info so if you really want to get in depth go there for example they even have whole books from the game transcribed and properly categorized as to which game they are from and what genre of book they are lol. Anyways those two sites should be your go to if you are not sure on something. My only suggestion is always remember a lot of ES lore is up to discretion so always look at things from kind of a over all perspective rather than an up close one if possible though I know we all have our preferences.

The UESP Wiki site is great for lore. Just type in what you want to know in google like this:

Lore: (______) UESPWiki

Just learning the lore of all the races will tell you about 50% of what's necessary to know, because it includes their cultures, battles, religions, etc.

So, I personally recommend this site to learn as much as possible in one site. It even has a big variety of names of each race to choose from.

I hope this helps ;)

EDIT: Damn, he beat me to it ;D

They are isolated and as long as study is productive they support it and that is something I can totally get along with.
i love this comment, you really know your stuff aha i even learned a few things so it incredibly appreciated. I personally also love the darkbrotherhood, they are definitely necessary and have an indepth questline that allows them to rise in power then rebuild after a defeat.

I agree with your statement about the brotherhood but however would like to question your statement on racial prejudice, do you truly think it puts them ahead or behind? because in actual history civilizations follow a similar pattern before thy fall, with tolerance very present in our current society which has been on the verge of collapse in recent years and decades do you truly see tolerance as a thing to be sought after?

Endaryn you are my kinda person man. Fuckin A pardon my language, but see you have something down that is hard for a lot of people to get. Which is stuff like equality and quality control kind of clash. Now in the case of the dark brotherhood yes it puts them ahead you know why? Cause they are a small close knit group where in all honesty if that stuff became was a problem they would not be able to get the numbers they need to succeed also the cause has a bit of a religious factor to it which provides it with a unification other than race that makes it easier to over look the differences.

What you bring up though is a great point is tolerance great? Well its something we could go on for hours and hours about before really reaching an answer. For example refer to Plato's The Republic. Now as we strip away rights and refine society to a more structured and less tolerant place we eliminate freedom and happiness, but we come closer to the everlasting utopia. As we become more lax and more general and more accepting and more tolerant society as a whole seemingly degrades, but the people are actually much happier fulfilled and hopeful.

So do I think it is the cause not exactly, but it is part of it see we become tolerant overly to certain things due to past transgressions which leads to allowing new transgressions to be allowed because of a sympathy issue which further causes us to fall apart....

Anyways not sure how far you want me to take this because seriously I could go on for hours if not days about this stuff.
I am smiling from ear to ear btw not enough people actually say stuff like that good on you man. *Claps hands*

They are isolated and as long as study is productive they support it and that is something I can totally get along with.
i love this comment, you really know your stuff aha i even learned a few things so it incredibly appreciated. I personally also love the darkbrotherhood, they are definitely necessary and have an indepth questline that allows them to rise in power then rebuild after a defeat.

Now I g2g as I said do anyone want to know more about something please ask me :D
is there a certain site or source you get your info from. Although I knew some of this already i again learned a few things and am very interested on learning more so if there is somewhere id love to check it out. Love seeing that your into the history as much as i am!!

So helpful thank you i never really trusted wiki because of school and what not though, so your confirming the elder scrolls one is infact credible

No problem, I'm glad to help :)

Endaryn you are my kinda person man. Fuckin A pardon my language, but see you have something down that is hard for a lot of people to get. Which is stuff like equality and quality control kind of butt heads.

Thanks so much for the compliment my friend! I see your point on the close knit group that allows tolerance and acceptance to benefit them and can agree with you and when it comes to Platos republic and the inevitable shift to utopian society or incredibly tolerant society, I feel that we need to find our happy medium. While utopian views are rather extreme I feel that humans must maintain rights, some equality and freedoms as they have allowed our civilization to endure but when it comes to complete tolerance i feel that if these rights freedoms and privalages are taken advantage of there shouldnt be as much tolerance as there is for example in crime, i personally agree with the death penalty. When it comes to races however the issue becomes touchy and increasingly hard to explain. Ill attempt it briefly by saying although all humans should be born equal, they as a person, not as a race are responsible for what they make of life and the choices that are made within it. I ffind also when it comes to races that it is only acceptable to categorize people in this manner when it comes to culture so that people can maintain there heritage and learn from the mistakes of the past. I dont know if i explained my view properly but i hope you are able to make it out. I to could go for hours and only begin to explain my views and how in certain ways it can seem like they contradict each other. So good luck making that out my friend and if i find a more efficient way of explaining i will most certainly let you know!

No I absolutely understand what you are saying and I do agree and really the problem is though if it is still touchy there is still an issue on both sides and only when such issues are resolved can we move past them. Every group of people have made mistakes albeit some much worse than others so in the end we all have to come to terms with we are humanity and individual responsibility plays the biggest role in our fate.

Anyways though if you ever wanna have a conversation like that man just PM. I am one of the people who really likes to apply real world psychology as well as apply real world history to compare with games such as ES that well in fact emulate a lot of it. It is very fun and eye opening and for me just as cool as exploring the lore it self especially cause sometimes it can give it even more context.

Seriously though I have contradicting views by many peoples standards as well so its no problem. Anytime though you want to discuss let me know. Back on main point though really glad I could help with the lore I hope you enjoy learning even more new things.

I most certainly will! and completely understand and agree with what you said. I love applying real world factors into games to see and analyze how we reacted in the real world and how they will in game, along with viewing common themes that allows me to make assumptions about what will happen next and about where the developers may have gotten their ideas! The invitation to yuo as well if youd like to talk about anything historical, about ES lore or even any of your personal views pm me. Im always up for a discussion and even a debate.
