Character Immersion in this game is absolutely phenomenal!

I honestly haven't seen anything like this in quite some time, last time I was motivated to explore the world and even talk to non-quest NPCs was in vanilla WoW but this game takes that experience to a whole new level. Has anyone else had the pleasure of just exploring the world and talking to everybody? I'd love to what everyone thinks about this topic!

Yes, character immersion and general immersion in the world itself is delightful in this game. Something rarely seen in MMO's which are generally quest/pvp based while ESO is fantastically resemblant of a true TES game (despite its flaws, or at least what some view as flaws).

It is the idea and feeling of living/existing in a world that lives in itself and feels alive as you travel through it that I feel makes the crucial difference. The fact that random events will occur around you as you travel, things will happen as they would in real life and you might just become interested and stop to chat to an old woman at the side of the road which will lead you on a path which you never intended or planned to take. And this encourages you to speak to more people, even if you know they won't send you on an errand or great journey, you will WANT to find out what the relations are like between two siblings living at a farm or what an old war veteran thinks of their new Mayor/Canonreeve/Jarl...

As Isilmo said, immersion is one of the things that makes a TES game (or spin-off) a TES game (or spin-off).

Then you should check out the other Elder Scrolls games, too. They probably have even more character immersion, if you're really into that.

That's just how the Elder Scrolls series has been like (Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind) for decades! Skyrim added audio voice to most dialog. It's just now they have brought the game to the MMO world. We all (here) think it's wonderful (it's why we are here).
Welcome to the community.

Skyrim conquerer. Morrowind and Oblivion vet. Long-time single-player computer gamer W/custom-made hi-perf OCd PC. Mostly RTS and a few action games.
Noob to MMOs.
Crappy satellite Internet very laggy pings 700-1000 not god for gaming, can't play most online games but ESO works good enough.

They did a pretty good job on immersion. Some of it is a little trite, but I'm a perfectionist. I'm unlikely to encounter anything intended for commercial success that actually does a better job. Moreover, some of that lack of perfection is obvious in the visual attractiveness of the female characters. Obviously unrealistic, but oh so pleasant!

I believe Skyrim had voiced dialogue for all NPC's...
