Does anybody knows if there is a limit on creating characters? For example I've played Neverwinter Online, and until I got a founder's pack I had a 2 character limit. This was the most painfull thing for me as I had to write an article for a local magazine, and had to go trough all the classes and characters feats, deleting them and creting others.

I don't know any exact numbers, but there better be at LEAST three (one for each faction). Nine would make me happy.

I belive alting wont be as common as in other MMOs

Given the ESO progression mechanics, the only differences would be 3 out of 20+ skill lines, so major drive for alting would be playing in different faction. Hence 3 slots would be more than enough I guess

Until the payment model is revealed we wont know anyway, odds are leaning to subscription and that comes with very generous options

I would hate subscription ... but if that's the only way hmmm ... have to think about it.

3 to 6 are ok. 9 is a lot, isn't it?

Not only the skill lines would be different. The points that are put into stamina/magicka/health are locked (last I heard, anyway), so you could come up with a few different builds based on the ratios.

Of course 9 is a lot. That's why it would make me happy.

Yeah, but the more characters they give you the less you're going to focus on one or two.

I don't really see a problem with that, to be honest. If someone gets more joy from the game by playing/starting a lot of different characters instead of having that one really good one, I say let them.

I like to focus on one character, is true, but every mmo I played I had to first know all the other clases, mostly for pvp ... however I do get bored quick by my main character. And that is why I usually have 2-3 second characters.

That has not been clarified yet, but I am quite positive there will be respec for this as well, It wouldnt give much sense being able to adapt so much but stuck with those

That's true! The first character I make in every MMO is a total failure, due to the wrong options I choose for their stats and skills, so I'm surely going to need more than 1 character to make things right.

I dont think it applies here, there is no way to "fail" as you could learn anything as long as you put some effort in it. Even if you made wrong choices the effort to learn new skills would be considerably lesser than making new character

Choosing different faction than your friends it the only way to fail

Yeap, you're right, I just forgot that my character will be able to learn everything, but still some may choose the Magicka, Health, Stamina upgrades unwisely.

That is one of the (two?) articles I read that discussed some sort of respeccing. I think the other mentioned that it would come at a price, but I honestly can't remember where I saw/heard it. With the ability to learn everything on one toon, I also feel 3-6 would be more than enough. As @rage said, it would probably be more profitable to learn something new on one toon than start all the way over on another when it comes to skills.
