Character Movement Options and World Interaction

When you've got a beautiful fantasy world as your playground, it really helps if you can traverse it in all sorts of ways - not to mention movement options help provide varying quest design.

Some movement options we're pretty definitely going to see are:
-Walk/Run
-Crouch/Stealth Walking
-Swim on Water

Some I'd love to see:
-Climbing: Climb vines, certain rocks, certain structures, some buildings. The ability to climb opens up a lot of various things you can do with narrative and of course, exploration. The latest trailer also showed characters climbing the wall of a fortress - via rope. Would be great to do that in game ESPECIALLY if you can actually move to the left and right a little bit to avoid any falling objects possibly flung towards you by pissed off enemies.

-Swim Underwater: I've always loved the idea of diving down and discovering something that was lost, a sunken treasure... or perhaps spotting an underwater cave which leads into a secret bandit hideout you can swim to, etc.

-Going Prone: Now this is an unlikely one, and most people might not see the value of it... but when you're trying to sneak and look over the edge of a cliff to spy on the enemy below (especially in PVP) it's obviously best to give them the smallest chance possible to see you. Going prone and crawling can also be used to move through very tight spaces just further adding to possible creative quests.

Just some thoughts I felt like sharing :) cheers

I don't want their to be auto-travel for the reason listed during a shoddycast. If you could fast travel it would hurt the pvp aspect of the game but it wouldn't hurt to have it outside of pvp.
But I really like the idea of climbing vines and I think your dead-on with going prone.

Honestly, I'm ALL FOR no fast travel. Maybe in major cities via magic portals which you pay for quite a bit. Aside from that, I'd love if the game felt slightly more like a simulation than an arcade game.

Might be considered 'too hardcore' for many, though.

I just think if the convenience of fast travel is taken away, players will really appreciate the world a lot more, they'll explore because there isn't much option and they will JOURNEY.

Getting from one place to the next will feel like a journey and seeing your friends after however long it took you guys to finally meet up will feel far more rewarding and hopefully, you might even have some tales to tell each other of the things you encountered along the way.

No fast travel also adds to the value and appreciation of horses.

Agreed. The only reason I would want to have fast travel is for the days when you only have like an hour to play and want to meet up quickly.

Same here, I could do without fast travel, and a Dungeon finder tool as well.
If you ask me these things have made most MMO's too causal and anti social, there have been times in the past where ppl would talk during a instance, or quests,
but these days ppl are just too causal and you'll be lucky to get 2 works out of someone.

I want TESO to be a great game and I really feel it won't be if it's becomes another one of those causal MMO's..

100%. TESO will fail if it becomes that type of casual game. The entire thing is based upon three factions working together. Plus if your one of these casual gamer's I would want to know why you would even bother with ESO when your meant to be in a factions and to be in guilds and groups of friends 90% of the time.

it was stated that there will be wayshrines as teleports. I use fast travel only when i already explored route- for example in Oblivion i walk from Imperial City to Weynon priory, clear everything what i find, but on way back i use fast travel because i travelled there already. And city portals are good idea.

Why not? It would be cool and the wayshrines will be teleports/fast travel stations.

climbing is likeley, especialy in PvP, but probably not on all surfaces (besides if youre a horse)

Id like to see an as fleshed out under-water system as guild wars 2 has.
For blackmarsh this is a must!

All comes down to the distance between wayshrines. From hint in the latest mmorpg podcast with Sage, where he talk about death penalty, I assume the wayshrines arent that numerous and it shall all fit in nicely

There'll probably be from 3 to 4 in each province.

Something like that yea, and if the provinces, even the playable parts are bigger than ES originals, as ZOS claim. Oh boy, its not exactly "fast travel" kids! I want them horses

I won't use fast travel at all, I want to see all the new places and creatures and explore the world. Plus, if you use fast travel you won't get all the small quests around the map, you have to explore to find them.
