and there you give me the confirmation. "random AI"

random =/= strategic. not the same thing.

and no, the lack of aggro is not terrible design. Most single player games dont limit its AI to such simple terms.

Oh yes they do my friend, summon yourself atronach in Skyrim. When bear decided if he should attack you or your atronach, its an aggro mechanic.

P.S. dinner ready, ima write elaborate post later on, sry

That said it seems to me that classes have very specific roles, and I could have sworn that the dev's said you could make whatever character you wanted just like the other titles. If I wanted to be a rogue that hid from view and healed people I could, or if I wanted to be a heavy armor wearing mage I could be.

So what's the truth, am I going to be playing a class like everyone did in other MMO titles, or am I going to be creating my character like every other Elder Scrolls game?

You will be able to choose a class at the character creation screen. Though there are classes, it is just a guide line, im even hesitant to call them classes. its going to be like the TES games in the past, with all the customizeability ( if its not a word, then now it is ) as before. The class is just for a few passives or unique abilities from my understanding.

Its going to be both, Jarl_Norend. We know of several things at this stage of development: There are classes, those classes will determine some abilities you have and likely more, there is a perk system (your talent tree), you have the freedom to pick your outfit/accessories, said equipment will also grant abilities as you level up with them. What we don't know is how all those things will interact with each other.

We don't know of the extent of gear customization and perk/class interaction beyond "hey! Wear and use what you want!". So to answer your question, don't put all your eggs in one basket yet, we have a lot to discover.

Well from all the info i found so far, even during the raid if healer dies, 1 player can go out of combat and switch to another "class", your cahracter wont be limited to 1 class and you can switch them as long as you out of combat, you will haw 6 spells, 1 of them is ultimate, your class will give you 1 ultimate spell and 2 other spells, the other 3 spells will depend on weapon/armor and maybe some other magic schools like alternation or conjuration, etc. All spells can be lvl'd up, don't know what lvl limit they will haw, and by leveling them you can chose "perks", depending on perks you chose your spells can change dramatically. Whe you lvl any weapon you also can cheang your auto atack, as in do more demeg and consume more stamina or faster attack rate or increase small chance of crit etc. it will all depend on how you spent your weapon/armor perks. So even if your character is lvl 50, you can still lvl all the spells other classes haw, or any weapon or armor. Your character lvl will determine how you upgread your stamina/magica/health, at lvl 50 you can haw 1 max out and other one field around the half, depending on what you chose (health stamina magica) they will haw bonuses to your character, ex: if you magica lvl to the max it will boost your magica regen or increase spell damage, etc.

All this stuff is not 100% confirmed, its all the info i could gather from podcast from those who played pre alpha, and also some of the official interviews, if i intact do haw something wrong please tell me, i don't like to be miss informed.

It does, I am saying that aggro mechanics is core component included in any AI as long as there are multiple targets

We presume Zenimax will elaborate on the statement PvE and PvP as much simmilar as possible. Thats reasonable when they pit a group of MOBs against group of players. But video we have seen shows single big bosses. Now they can either ignore aggro mechanics and deliver us crap like GW2
(and they did incline to do that in May) or actually move forward and realize the trinity concept isnt so easy to abandon in MMO PvE (current statement).

I expect some improvements, perhaps bosses killable without tanks granted that you have more healers or opposite with multiple tanks and no healer. That is good desing imo. But common npc AI on bosses would result simply in every boss smashing healer as his target n.1 and render tanks useless. Tanks in order to tank need aggro mechanic combined with some taunts as well to snap aggro. Othewise any tank build would be lazymode "I have more health so I can slack but my dmg is crap so my contribution poor" and thats very bad design
