Console Players: player to player interaction

I've been talking with a few of my friends, all of which are plannig on getting ESO, and all of which are planning on playing on console; and in our discussions we reached the topic of in game player to player interactions and communications.

Now I just recently joined TESOF and haven't done much research on this yet, nor have my friends, and I was looking for a quick answer without the hassle of having to go through and search for it myself (I know, lazy on my part), but I was wondering if ZOS has announced how console players will be able to interact without a readily available keyboard. My initial thoughts were either via headset, much like how Xbox live is set up, however that also arises the issue of controling who can hear you and how many people you can reach. My second thought was (and God forbid) the screen that comes up where one must manually move from letter to letter whilst selecting said letters to formulate words. Again being oh so inconvienient and time consuming.

So back to the initial question; has ZOS announced anything about interactions and communications? If so, would someone be willing to share, or at least post a link where I could read myself? And if they have not, what do you believe the most rational way to have player to player interactions on console?

The game itself will not support voice chat (or text chat, for that matter). You'll have to use Skype or XBL parties (assuming Skype will not replace parties entirely).

By arrow. By blade.
By tooth. By claw.
By shock. By frost. By flame.
The Aldmeri Dominion will dominate Tamriel.
Our enemies will fall until the Throne is ours.

Have they announced if there will be any way to interact with players you dont know that you can't talk with via skype?

I don't believe they have, but I imagine they'll implement character actions (eg. wave, dance, yes, no, etc.) like in WoW.

They said somewhere they might have to put in easy quotes like ( heal me, want to party, no,) that you can use in the spur of the moment situations. I think communication is the hardest obstacle for the consoles.

Now I have a question, can you plug in a keyboard to your Xbox now and have full functionality? Lets say you can, I know some people would say "now I have to go buy a new keyboard for my xbox" well if that's what you have to do then make sure you get a wireless one ;)

You need an adapter to connect keyboard to Xbox, but it can be done. Another thing is whether Xbox version of ESO will support keyboard.

well maybe these "next gen" systems might support a keyboard ( that might record every keystroke) >.> <.< >.> oh no ones looking? lol

I think this would solve a lot of the communication issues, VoP they said might work for the consoles but not everyone would want to "talk" to each other. lets say for me, im from the Caribbean so when I talk to people over the internet they sometimes wont understand me or my slang or accent is different.
Also VoP might not work for the entire game, just parties or for the largest option guilds.

Another idea that spurred on me between my time posting last night and now was the voice message system and party chat system that Xbox live provides. Given that the Xbox One carries that over from the Xbox 360, and that the PS4 incorperates it in with their online play (I'm not familiar with PS3 online play, so I don't know if they already do), that would be a good way to get around the lack of communication devices (assuming there is a lack) that the game may inhibit us with, or the game may even somehow incoperate that into the communication aspect.

I just find it hard to believe that with ESO's PvP functions being centered around guild activity, they would lack in a crucial asspect of getting your guild's name out there and grabbing players' attention, making them want to join your guild.

Another reason I find it hard to believe that there would be a lack of communication would be for the sake of economy. From what I've gathered thus far about the economy structure for ESO, it seems to be very face to face. I have yet to read, or see any videos, reguartding a auction house, or any other way of putting a product up for sale for masses to barter or buy from. This would imply that you would have to barter one on one, and without any key forms of communication, aside from simple emotes, that would be relatively difficult.

My final, and quite possibly most baffeling reason, would have to be the fact that in a page for creating your own guild, there is an option to advertise your guild as a SOCIAL guild (even on console guild options). How do they expect us to have a social guild if there is no way to truely be social guild, or at least have social aspects (in the case that say it's a RP guild) if we can't communicate? To tag onto that, ZOS has informed us that PvE will not have specificly set roles, they want players to be capible of working together to overcome obsticals and challenges; and a key form of doing so is done via communication. One cannot inform the group if they are down mid-fight if there isn't really a way to do so, and lack of communication would make stratigizing, or even figuring things out on the fly a very frustrating challenge at best.

Communication has always been a huge factor in any team-based game, be it WoW or even FPS games like Call of Duty. I currently have the option to host voice-casting via my guild site for up to 50 people and if that proves to be too much $ there is always Skype. Simple text shortcuts and single word, on-screen voice bubbles just aren't going to cut it in ESO. Yes, I'm going to mention COD again. Unless they do it like COD where you join the party and everyone can voice chat instantly within party or team, I'm going to look outside the game for comms. I plan on playing console so it frees up my laptop to monitor all communications on that grand of a scale, headset + mic. Only other option I see is using in-game voice comms for small parties with Computer Comms to command each small party, if it gets that in-depth. it seems like ESO is going to need something pretty impressive for me to use their comms exclusively.

I would be surprised if in this late stage of gaming they would not implement of VoP system in parties. This of course wouldn't solve the task of getting into a group for console players, but as far as communication it would be even useful for PC players. Although I see little reason why next gen won't be able to support a keyboard, but in the end I have no idea what the console performance of this will be like. I think a good game to look at to compare what it might be like is Defiance. I've not played it, nor met anybody who's played it on the consoles other than just watching videos. In that regard I'm not quite sure how they resolve the communication issue. . maybe communication won't be a major big deal in ESO? Majority of this is all speculation on how it will work. Might as well wait for information from ZOS. . which basically means wait for the game to come out. ;D

Well if anyone gets desperate, I have a simple solution. Nowadays everyone has some form of computing device, be it desktop, laptop, or tablet. Since most VoIP tools are third party anyways, whose to say it must be integrated within a game or even the platform? For now, since we have little to no info, I propose this:

A guild playing on consoles requires chat. Everyone either downloads the app or the program for Skype onto a computer, tablet of other device which supports it. To talk while playing, everyone joins the call or server of whatever, and just chats via computer, tablet, etc while playing on console. Everyone can chat and still play, and it didn't really cost anything. At worst you moved your computer closer to your tv. If you have a tablet it's even easier, as there's a mic already there, all you need is some headphones with a long enough cord to grant you some wiggle room

Fight for something to die for, because living for nothing really isn't worth it.

you dont need an adapter. i have a USB keyboard and you just plug it in. ALSO xbox sells a keypad that attaches to your controller. that would come in handy.
