Customizable Armor

In all the Elder Scrolls games i have hoped to see some type of customizable armour. For example if i were to smith an item i could use dies to change the colour of the fabrics (pending on the armor type) or use a carving knife or dagger to carve in a name, tallies for kills or other various designs. This also opens up a whole new look on simple items like pelts that in the past have only taken up inventory/encumberance and been simply discarded or sold. Pelts, furs, antlers, horns and even skulls could be taken from beasts and added to certain locations and certain types of armor. I personally have wanted this or something similar for a long time. Im eager to hear the opinions of any and all who wish to reply, or if anyones knows if this will be implemented

I simply adore this idea. Having this level of character creation would be an absolutely phenomenal addition for players. Of course it would have to be completely optional so those who wished for their armor to remain stock could still be happy. Personally, I would love to see warriors wandering around with epic Sabre cat pelts on their shoulders or what not.

Great to see that another Elder Scrolls fan agrees! Id love to see armor like the Stormcloak general armor with the bears head as a helmet! IMagine that but various animals, materials and colours from all the native regions of tamriel!

I always loved that armor but I think it looks ridiculous on a female character xD Your idea would give me the option to personalize it enough so I didn't look so foolish!

Exactly, with the power to design it yourself and add your own touch, a player has the potential to never be displeased with what they are wearing, give them that all important personal feel and players from similar areas would look somewhat similar! id love to see armies that look similar and equally epic all at once in PVP!

This would be pretty awesome, but I would want it to be possible only through crafting professions. This would make crafters more sought after. I would also like this to be implemented for a "build your own costume" kind of item as well. If so though, to prevent scamming (in the "you give me your armor so I can smith it. Thank you. Now you're never going to see your armor again" kind of way) there should be some kind of loan option. Like, you give someone permission to strengthen/customize the armor straight from your inventory so you never have to change actual possession of the item.

Well, the feature of "craft-your-own-armor" is already confirmed. But it´s not going to be in game. There will be mod-like plug ins. Probably Zenimax will publish a creator kit for armor mods lateron or right at start.

If it does end up being implemented (and considering the new launch date who really knows what will end up in the final product at this point) and it does end up being a professions thing, it should only be something a master or near-master of a certain profession should be able to do. I believe we have enough points to completely master two professions only, or spread those out to more than just two and be a jack of all trades. So this could encourage specifying at least one trade (this might help come endgame so that you can craft your own level 50 gear). And like stated before, it would help make crafters more sought after, but especially good ones (since only the really dedicated will max out certain professions).

It would be cool to see what other professions than just the weaponsmith and armour smith can make should this be implemented. Would enchanters add unique effects (ie the regular enchant plus an extra 5% fire damage?), cooks make specialty courses, or alchemists make special brands of poison? May e extra rune carvings in a staff or a magicka/stamina potion mixed together. Possibilities abound!

There mustn´t be too much freedom. I don´t want anybody to show up with stupid Tera or Guild Wars look alike armors. Herrje! The women are barely covered and they call it heavy armor. Heavy armor! D:

No, I´d rather want everyone clad in two or three different version of the highest rank armor in every faction, given us by zenimax, than have not only lore violating, but also common sense violating... armor.

(by the way, I always found the daedric helmet in Skyrim... suspicious ;)

I like the idea of making it a skill, like involved with smithing or something. I also agree that a ton of look a like armours would not benefit the game at all. But using only some items you can find in game to make your armour a little different and more personal would be a welcomed addition in my eyes

This is a good idea. Not too much customization, but enough to make it unique :D

I would really like that idea! I would have loved it in Skyrim too!

It's confirmed armour will actually resemble armour. No massive shoulder pads or skimpy outfits. You'll actually look like you are wearing protective gear
