...Is looking pretty good. Have you seen it?

Personally still getting over the fact Tauriel is even a thing, but I have faith in Jackson's ability to make movies that will credit Tolkien's work. I also absolutely love the look of Thranduil's caves. What do you guys think?

Looks good. Can't wait to go see it with friends. Hopefully there will be a cup available at the cinemas like with 'An unexpected journey.'

Meh, not looking good imo. The Hobbit's not an epic tale of good and evil, like LOTR. They capture the feeling of LOTR in the films nicely IMO, but the first Hobbit film and this trailer just feel like a shoddy remake of LOTR, with invented characters and reinvented events.

Also, way to much CGI, just like in An Unexpected Journey. The elves in the trees?? Eugh.

Well, now that I've rained doom and gloom over the thread, I'll take my leave.

I kind of agree, then again I always knew it would never reach LotR's heights. The Hobbit is an enjoyable book but obviously more of a straight-forward fairytale sort of thing compared to the LotR-trilogy. I think that that's why Jackson made the feel of these movies entirely different without making them completely alienated from each other.

I'm not a movie critic that complains about how stuff looks or how it's not the same as other movies of similar series. I think it looks good and will most definitely be seeing it.

Oh, I'll probably see it when it comes out, I've no doubt it will be an entertaining movie. It just won't feel like the Hobbit of the books, or at least my conception of it.

Thanks for sharing this! I'll definitely be looking forward it.

I was indeed a bit miffed over the use of CGI in the first film. It feels like it makes consistency issues in Middle-Earth, ("...and 60 years ago, orcs and goblins had a lot smoother skin!") They also changed Legolas's eye color; I guess younger elves have brighter eyes(?) On the note of Legolas, the fellow speaking at 1:14 also looks and sounds like Orlando Bloom. It's like he's Orlando Bloom's twin brother, or they casted him for two parts. Tongue_out

I understand though that The Hobbit had a different overall style and theme to it than the Lord of the Rings series. Still, I would've preferred a persistent world over creative visual-style shifting.

Character Profiles:
Endaros Ilmori - Buoyant Armiger
Sunrio - Aldmeri Justiciar

Taren Jucanis - Imperial Deserter (Used for The Black Shroud RP)

Legolas had blue eyes in the LotR-trilogy as well, but my guess is that they made colours/CGI more vibrant overall in this trilogy. I prefer the more realistic, toned down setting of LotR as well, but I'm too much of a Tolkien-fan to not appreciate what Jackson is giving me to chew on *glances at her Hadhafang* <.<

I too prefer the "more realistic, toned down setting" of Lords of the Rings. The Hobbit (p1) did not feel 100% the same as Lotr, mainly cause of that.

Apart from that I did not like the childish humor the dwarves had (example: "Do they have chips?" when having dinner at the house of Elrond). Nor do I really like all of the looks of the dwarves, I prefer the more realistic looking ones.

I just nerded all over the floor... it was messy

I agree with what previous posters said and I too like the 'realistic fantasy' of LoTR however I also like this story and how Jackson is making sub stories within it.
Finished reading the book not to long ago, and am now starting the LoTR series and love them! (I don't know why I never got around to reading them when I was younger, as I loved the movies)
I also can't wait to see Beorn the shape shifting giant and the battle of the 5 armies!!!!!

Ofcourse it won't top to LOTR, but the movies are still really awesome :) wait untill there all three out, and then do an epic marathon with the 6 movies.

Going to see them for sure.
