The devs apparently are not giving skill/stat boosts to any race (though I've heard that High Elves will have a weakness to magic). However, there may be boosts in the racial skill trees.

Bottom line: we don't know of any yet.

By arrow. By blade.
By tooth. By claw.
By shock. By frost. By flame.
The Aldmeri Dominion will dominate Tamriel.
Our enemies will fall until the Throne is ours.

Think it would be fair on the racial skills. Like unarmed combat for khajit or underwater breathing for argonians (and dont say thats op, there wil lprobably be poitions for that)

From what people have heard so far, there will be a racial skill line. If anywhere, that's where your racial bonuses would be located. That also means you actually have to invest in it instead of just having it because you exist.

I don't know how fair that would be, though. You'd be stereotyping each race with a specific playstyle/class. I think racial skills should be combat-based or something. For example, Altmer could have an ability called "Aedric Blessing" that adds holy/sun damage to their attacks. Nords and Dunmer would have frost- and fire-based versions, respectively. Orc could have a form of Berserker Rage that applies to staffs as well as melee weapons. Bretons could probably keep Dragonskin (magic resistance) and Argonians Histskin (health regen). I guess Redguards could keep Adrenaline Rush (stamina regen) because it applies to dodging and sprinting, not just melee combat. The Khajiit ability could add bleeding effects to attacks. Bosmer would add poison effects (let's face it: Command Animal was rarely, if ever, useful).

I am actually wondering how viable the racial skill line will be, or if it is very short, id love to be a full spec Argonian. :p

Not Set
However, it wouldn`t be against the lore to give each race a special passive/offensive/defensive boost withoute investing into the racial skill line. (And yes, I know there won`t be any because they`ve already said so, just sayin').

Actually, classes come with three skill lines. I would like races to come with three skill lines, too. But what to put in there would be pure fantasation right now:

Anyway, the skill lines of every race mustn´t be imba, but should be game changing, so that you know you´re an Altmer, and no Nord playing right now.

Who controls the Septim crown?
Who keeps the Allesian Heresy down?
We do, we do

Who knocked Yokuda off the maps?
Who keeps the Dwemer under wraps?
We do, we do

I really have to disagree with this. Anything that becomes "game changing" for your character starts making it so that if you want to be truly effective at a fighting style, you have to choose the race that fits it. There will be plenty of people starting the whole "Why are you trying to play a breton tank, you nubz? You should be playing Orc!" thought process if they made racials "game changing". I say there should be a difference, but make the bonuses pretty minimal. That way any race can be just as effective at a role as anyone else. That's the feel they're trying to go for anyway: loosen the molds of combat roles to let anyone play the kind of style they want.

A good example I would say for racials is TERA. You had some variation (one race had slightly more resistance to getting knocked down and a slight resistance to periodic damage, making them naturally better for tanking), but it was nowhere near large enough for people to really care what combination of race/class you were.

I agree, if that's what the devs are aiming for, then they'd be heading in the right direction by adding racials the way you suggested. ;)

I'm glad that there are like-minded people on the forum :P

Well thank you! Honestly all I do is try to not give false information, try to not jump to conclusions, and try to think from a game developer's mindset as well as a player's.

Yup, seems like racial skill line is composed of Ultimate ability and passives, there are no racial active abilities. The examples we were given surely are going to be tweaked, they are very powerful and kids will go "best race for..." all over the place

Actually, a Breton tank could make sense if they do end up getting magic resistance bonus. It would allow them to take more damage from say, DPS magic users.
