Elder Scrolls Online: Could it be Pay-To-Play? - By Zarxces

I am back with a much more debatable topic... should TESO be P2P or F2P? (Pay to play and Free to play) I tackled a few topics that I thought were notable if TESO decides to go the P2P route. Leave comments with your opinions. I would love to hear some different insight on the matter!

I hope you enjoy the video, and I hope to see you on the channel!

Thanks again,
- Zarxces

P.S. Hail Sithis!

Either way people will buy it, the important thing here is that they make some income, if they do not want the game fall flat.

I think a hybrid of F2P/P2P would work best. By this i mean the people who P2P will be more advanced than the F2P people. What i have thought of on this subject is the P2P people will be 2-3 patches ahead of the F2P people. P2P people will also have more items they can get than the F2P people. Maybe the P2P people can go to higher levels than the F2P people. Maybe even they can get higher in their professions as well. Many people might not agree with me, but i feel this is the best way to handle a game that is a MMORPG.

i do not agree. i do not agree that there will be some people that do not pay anything. that will break the immersive world. and create a gap between F2p and P2p. and f2p player will keep talking BS...

i prefer P2P/B2P. here is the thread for mode information.

I never said that you wouldn't have to buy the game. I completely agree in the fact that even if it is F2P you will still have to buy the game. (I am solely looking at the multilayer aspect of the game after it is bought.)

oh i understand. then i agree with you. but 2-3 patches ahead is ridiculous. we are not completely f2p (so its B2P). we pay it upfront. so i want it like GW2 with subscription option. which if we subscribe. the game will be free from cash shop. while if we only pay it upfront, and not subs. we will still see the cash shop.

I agree on the amount of patches i just wasn't sure of a good example of saying that the people who pay will be able to advance a bit further into the game before the people who didn't pay get the chance to.

I already mentioned this on some topics before, but what about model like this: Buy game, if you want to play PvE content ( story, raids, buying house, etc,) you will need to get subscription, if you don't like to p2p, you can do pvp in cyrodil, max lvl will be limited to 40, wont be able to participate ate official events, and if you feal like playing pve content subscribe, create pve/pvp character and play normal content, at the end of the subscription your payed character's will be locket, and you can only use the 1 f2p pvp character. No only this wont ruin the game for people who play with p2p, but also wont ruin the lore of the story, since f2p people will count as war force of each faction.
What are flaws of this model?
