First of all... Will there be any? I have received and read information saying that yes, indeed, there are going to be mounts, but what about pets and companion creatures?

The main question I'd like to ask you all is as follows: What do YOU hope to see in the way of ride-able animals and whatnot? Do you want some of the more traditional animals like horses and Senche? Or something a little more exotic?

I remember downloading "Abigail's Pet Shop" mod and the "Guar Pack Animal" mod while playing Morrowind, I'd love to see something like the pack-Guar in game! EDIT: Is there any pet/companion/mount mod you enjoyed from any TES game? Feel free to post a picture or share some nostalgia :P

(Holy giant picture, I promise I'll get better at this xD)

I'd love to see more variety in mounts. I'm a little fuzzy on the details, but I remember hearing that we would be able to improve our mounts as we/they level, in terms of speed/stamina/capacity. From that I take it to mean that there will be more than just cosmetic choices to consider in mounts.
My best guess/hope is that everybody gets a horse early in the game, but we can get new mounts that have different advantages through quests or vendors.

My concern though is mounted combat. I doubt that our mounts would be killable like in previous games, so I also doubt that we will see skyrim's epic horse vs dragon battles. However, I also doubt we will have the *poof* mount disappeared, you were attacked style other mmo's favor. It would go against the developers' immersion factor. For a compromise I would best hope that mounts would have a small "health" bar, which when depleted, chucks the rider from their saddle and stuns them for a bit while their mount runs off. Probably no sword swinging at the sides, but maybe a quest line to get a lance or something. PvP wars would get pretty interesting if we had a calvary.

As for pets, we do know that every class will have a pet perk they can spec into, but what all that entails we don't really know yet.

Companion creatures would be an awesome flavor feature that has a lot of potential, and although we don't have any info on them that I know of, I'd give them fair odds of making it into the game.

Id rather a skill line of taming where players can become tamers of creatjres and sell mounts to players welcome to mortal online..

Another thing there are no pets like little ragnaroth or taming wolves for a hunter type char...only pet u will see are from daedric summoning and necromancymancy skill lines.

I simply adore your mounted combat ideas in regards to having the riders bucked from their saddles. I'm personally a big fan of mounts and companions in-game so I hope they put as much thought and detail into it as they have the rest of the game (:

Flat lands, yes, but the Guar is only an example of the diversity of creatures that TES can expand upon in their new endeavor!

I can see where taming would prove fun and useful. A bit of an incentive to playing a hunter-type character! Though it may be tricky to apply, counter-balancing the trained pets versus summons.

If you look at some of the newer videos, some of the newer stock footage shows wolves fighting alongside the players. There were also the lovable scamps from Oblivion and Winged Twilights we haven't seen for a while visible from the summoning tree of the Sorcerer.

Something to note about pets, a few of the beta videos show what looks like a player controlled wolf running around. Whether they decided to flesh in the "summon familiar" spell or it's a tamed pet, we don't know, but it's too early to rule out tamed beasts. (Plus, anyone wanting to be a hunter type character can just spec into conjuration for pets if that's what it takes)

Edit: Beat me to it Vigk Vagk v2!

According to the new Shoddycast combat pets will not be in game, so probably those wolves which we saw (there was a couple of daedra there too I think, a sprite maybe I don't know) were summoned, or were part of a quest maybe. That's a little disappointing personally. As a dragon knight it would have been cool to have had some kind of war dog or a smaller wamasu fighting alongside me. But all classes have access to pets, which excites me. As for mounts, I've heard that horses would be the only mounts in game, but I think that might be old and maybe they've changed something? Riding a wamasu would be cool, or that Guar in the OP. Hopefully they add some cool stuff!

I would say it is a good thing, having this marvelous combat system, player should fight their own battles. Relying on AI pet companion kills the system. I know many liked the easymode "send pet, peper arrows" hell even I enjoyed it for a while in WoW and GW2, but its still way too easy and I rather see it as design flaw

We already know they last only 60sec with vanilla sauce (unmorphed) and cost 3x more magicka than nuke spell, so they will be used in appropriate situations and surely not as perma pets

Tamriel aint the right place for autoshot hunters, WoW and GW2 are great for that

I demand Unicorn mounts for Altmer. I don't really care about pets, unless they're cosmetic ones, then I want all of them.

I remember the unicorn in Oblivion. Just a pain in the butt. However, if there were such a creature in ESO available for all races, I would want to name him Charlie to pay homage to the most ridiculous Youtube videos ever. :P

Charlie would be a fine name for an unicorn^^
Although it would feel strange to see an unicorn in a TES game.

I would like to have one of those giant insect-like things from Morrowind as a mount. Those one could use as a means of fast travel (not sure how they're called in english).

As for pets, I wonder what would be suitable and specific to a TES game.

lol Im glad to know im not the only one who likes Charlie the unicorn.

The devs did say that there will be no pets though, I hope they change their minds and let us have some fun pets to take along to fights and stuff, I remember in skyrim I got some random dog to follow me and also there was that troll you could buy after you finished Dawnguard, they were always fun to run around with.
They have the infrastructure to have great pets and maybe they will let us have some in the future.
