We have just been told that first person view has been taken out of TESO like seriously what are zenimax thinking. Not having first person lowers the immersion for roleplayers dramatically, this is indeed a huge blow to the rp'rs and fans of the es series i have created this topic for everyone to voice their concerns.

pls tell everyone the reasons why u want first person :)

1st person won't work in a MMORPG especially with the massive combat system ESO is planning

I take it you're a little slow? First person wasn't removed, it's just that your hands don't show up.

first person will work, obviously there are times when it wont but there are also times when roleplayers need this view and that means it will work. this just feels like another way in which they are trying to tell us how to play the game taking away our freedom of choice is never a good thing, im deeply concerned.

durp that isnt first person that is a zoom in from third person have you ever played an elderscrolls game kid first person is a hallmark of the series otherwise its a wow clone with tes skin.

You have first person view. If you're just using it for RP, then your hands aren't showing up anyway, and I don't see the problem.

If you're using it for combat, have fun dying repeatedly.

Where did you hear there wouldn't be 1st person? Everything I have seen on the subject said 1st and 3rd person. When you are 1st person you don't see your hands, that is the only downside I've heard of.

edit:

That is, by definition, first person view.
I've played TES since Morrowind, and still used third person.
Camera view doesn't make it a wow clone.

They didn't remove anything tho, they have never had the hands shown in first person according to all the hands on.

They would have to add first person animations, not only that but because unlike skyrim, where everyone has the same animations, in this the abilities are class specific. Not only would you need to make first person animations, you have to have them in combination with every weapon type too, It's a lot of work

One of your Poll questions to read " Don't need it - Don't want it "

Then i would have voted.

1st person view would be great to have as an option for nostalgia, however, I think most people will find 3rd person view to be better, if not necessary in the new MMORPG experience. You will need the 3rd person vantage point when playing with others to more effectively recognize synergy opportunities with players around you, players sneaking behind you, and avoiding traps. Those who choose (if available) 1st person will likely have a harder time in PvP and some PvE.

I agree completely. 1st person has never felt real to me. Its too much like tunnel vision. Not one made yet accurately represents peripheral vision or situational awareness. Until technology is able to give us a playable 1st person that feels real I will never use it.

Thats my opinion though. I realize people have grown used to that perspective in the ES games before this. The simple fact is though, that from a dev point of view, its far too hard and expensive to do, with all of the animations that theyve made for the combat/casting system. Look at the previews. The animations are much more involved than in previous ES games. The complications in making all of these animations go from 1st person all the way out to 3rd person, are incredibly time consuming and expensive.

I know theres alot of people that want it put in, but you also want to play the game soon too. Would you rather wait another year or 2 longer (meaning 2015 or later), just for something as mondain as this? really?

Well I'm sure multiple monitor setups can give you that peripheral vision, I just never have had the space to try it.

In an MMO you usually have to see your feet and the area around, behind your character as well to make sure you aren't standing in an effect though, so peripheral vision isn't the only problem/limitation of first person combat.

I've tried that before, it doesn't work. It either just splits it between the monitors, or sticks to just one monitor.
