I've been looking around for some confirmation on whether or not they'll have a fov slider by launch. By the looks of it 1st person looks great besides the fact that it seems to have a restricted console fov. If anyone has heard any "official" announcement on this please let everyone know here.

No, sadly there is no FOV slider mentioned. It kind of makes first person combat impossible. . which sucks because the game is so immersive in first person.

Probably not by launch, as 1st person view was actually implemented on fanbase requests and was not in the original game design. So it is very likely that they will patch the FOV slider at some point in the future, again based on popular request.

Currently 1st person is all but useless in any kind of challenging environment, the FOV is way too limited so there is bound to be a huge number of requests to change this, even from beta alone.

I've played all my sessions in first person and have yet to have a problem. Of course I've never been in pvp, so my opinion could change when I get there.

This is so essential. While playing the beta I felt cramped into this tiny screen. I could barely see my staff. I'm guessing the FOV in TES:O is around 0, because it feels like vanilla Skyrim. I play Skyrim with an FOV of 72.5, which is so much better while not making me totally fish-eyed. Even though I was an Argonian.

I played in third person for 80 percent of the beta when I expected to be in first person the entire time.. Kind of dismaying.

No- there's a 'combat mini' that will give you some clue from what quarter you are taking damage if it occurs from a direction you are not facing; but candidly- you'll get x2 the attack before you can react to it.

In PvE- ti's survivable... in PvP- it's fatal.

Your choice- you want ultimate realism and die a lot... or realistic game-play and survive some to defeat your attacker?!

I know which way I'm going and I absolutely know you'll have nothing to brag about no matter which way you go.
