GW2-style dodging?

I read in the recent combat Q & A, that TESO will have a stamina system similar to GW2 (where it is called endurance).

My question is this.

Will stamina be used exclusively for dodging i.e. do we have to dodge? Or can stamina be used for other things that do the same as dodge (such as block)?

The reason I ask is that I hate dodging in GW2. It is probably the one thing I would take out of the game. I play an 8 foot Norn Guardian, and he looks like an idiot when he rolls around in heavy armor.

If TESO has action combat, I would love it if I could block instead of dodge.

Dodge and block would be nice. Don't we already have Stamina in the TES single player games? Or something comparible? It seems a base power that could fuel many abilities & skills.

TESO - - Multiplayer: "M'aiq does not know this word. You wish others to help you in your quest? Coward! If you must, search for the Argonian Im-Leet, or perhaps the big Nord, Rolf the Uber. They will certainly wish to join you." M'aiq the Liar.

"Va Khaj Dar - Khajiity's united? M'aiq will join!" M'aiq the Liar

you dont like dodging? dodging is pretty amazing.
One of the best features stolen from Dark Souls.

Dodging is tied to stamina.
Wich is also used for Blocking.

I supose you can do either. The results of course are different.

Stamina is one of those resources that will be tied in to many things according to what ZOS has said so far.

How hard you hit will depend on how much stamina you have. Have very little stamina and you will do very little damage.

We know sneak, dodging, blocking and sprinting will all use stamina. There will be other abilities tied to stamina as well.

So yes, you could dodge all over until you run out of stamina but then you'd be SOL until your stamina builds back up again.

I like dodging, personally. In fact, I can't even play wow anymore because you can't dodge. To be honest, gw2 pretty much hit the nail on the head with gameplay. It does fall short on a basic fundamentals level, which is why it was so hard, for so many, to let go of it so quickly.

I don't know that Stamina will determine how hard you hit Tabby. It was my understanding that both light and heavy basic attacks are not pulling from Stamina pool. But special melee abilities (on your hot bar) will use Stamina, along with cc breaks, blocking, sprinting, stealth, etc. as you point out.

It was in one of the ZOS interviews from this year, I'm thinking one with Paul Sage but I can't remember exactly which one. I think it was the one where he talked about dodging in combat. I'd have to hunt it down later if I have time.

Yes there is both dodge and block.

I read that power is the stat that increases the player's damage; stamina increasing it wouldn't make much sense for a magic-user. Stamina is the system being used to replace cooldowns (working like energy in WoW).

OT:

I think roll could be good depending on how it feels in-game, but it does look silly for a heavy-armored character to be tumbling around Winking_grinning
