For me, the most anticipated aspect of shifting the ES style of game-play into an online format is going to be the formation of group dynamics. I have played MMOs for a while and have been completely addicted to anything classified as healing or support. For those who are like me, solo play (even in an very well designed RPG game) can become boring very quickly. The prospects of online play for Elder Scrolls creates the opportunity for new styles of play to appear.

So the topic open for discussion is this:
How do you intend to make use of these new healing and support dynamics?

If you are someone who wants to focus on tanking or dps, will you forgo training yourself in healing for a more diversified gambit of damage, armor and stealth skills? Or will you maintain a form of self sustenance by training yourself in heals and sacrifice your total devotion to damage dealing?

For healers and support pros, as Aldmeri, you have access to one of the most magicka natured of the 9 races, the Altmer. How much do you intend to devote to the healing and support arts over damage dealing?

My response:
I will more than likely attempt to maintain as much of a pacifistic role as possible. I want to totally dedicate myself to healing, buffing and debuffing (including stealthy and warrior skill types). The awesomeness of ES going online means that I believe this can be a totally feasible goal with the right guilds, friends and skill building.

What do you think? :)

I'll likely play the role of a rogue type healer, utilizing stealth as well as healing abilities. My reasoning for this is that I tend to play MMOs as a healer and ES games as a stealthy bow-wielding rogue type. I imagine this combination will be effective in PvP scenarios, where I'll have to keep others and (more importantly) myself alive, as well as getting by solo encounters unseen. Regardless of effectiveness I'll probably make my character a Bosmer simply because I like them and my healer will be my main.
I'm also really hoping TESO offers a more viable damage role for solo healers then other MMOs I've played, where solo questing as a healer is horrible and slow due to limited damage and damaging abilities.

Awesome!

I agree. I am hoping for a greater diversity of survivability skills through healing, as well as damage dealing arts. The one-sided tendencies of MMOs towards DPS and tank players is frustrating to say the least. -.- With the reputation of ES for their free-form customization of skills and armor types through all characters, however, means that I think a heals focused player could definitely hold their own in a tough solo, or even dire PvP, situation. I just have to muster up some faith for the ESO developers and hope that they can get it right.

Your idea of a rogue/heals focus is smart, especially for PvP. I totally respect your choice of Bosmer as it will bolster your stealthy talents. As a race they would probably be my second choice, that is, if magicka wasn't so important to me. :P

I intend to go battle-mage/spell sword, but will definitively try and keep a good level of healing capability as I can when soloing; I do enjoy playing healer in groups, but if TESO works out I wont be pigeon-holed into "only" a healer role in groups! and for me that's the single biggest plus I have for what I understand of the game so far.

My character will go more in line with physical aspects (heavy armor, 2-h weapon), but all my skills will be going toward buffing and debuffing (so probably magic). I'll leave the healing to someone else.

The only type of healing I've ever been interested in is self-healing, I generally enjoyed the benefit of self-healing when I played as a Paladin in WoW. It made playing solo a ton easier, and could also be a life saver if you had a poor healer in your instance.

I love the fact that no two healers are the same!
Hopefully ES capitalizes on this fact and makes healing just as versatile as all of the other MMO roles intended for the game.
