In-game purchases. Is there a plan for these? Is there information out there?

Personally, I hope not. MMO's that I have played with in-game purchases I have not played for long, whether or not I pay for a subscription in them.

Anyone else feel the same or have thoughts on how ESO will benefit from them?

You must be referring to micro-payments and the "pay to win" mentality that some companies try to encourage in their games.
I believe VERY strongly in the ability to purchase in-game mods that allow for graphical enhancement that can't be sold to other players.
When they begin to influence the player economy, that's when it's crossing the line.

The subscription is ok, but the "pay to win" option is really unfair

Debating with someone on the Internet is like mudwrestling with a pig. You get filthy and the pig loves it

Been playing Neverwinter and now I'm mid/high level I'm really starting to notice that to fully realize the potential of my character I don't really have a choice but to buy Zen , and don't give me the BS about the Zen / AD exchange market , atm you get 1 Zen for 470 AD , not a realistic way to advance , If ESO goes this route I'll definitely be gutted .

It seems to me that games with ingame markets where you have to buy everything with RL money to get anywhere at all with your character - are MUCH more expensive in the long run than paying $14.99 a month and being able to earn eveything you need in the game.

TESO - - Multiplayer: "M'aiq does not know this word. You wish others to help you in your quest? Coward! If you must, search for the Argonian Im-Leet, or perhaps the big Nord, Rolf the Uber. They will certainly wish to join you." M'aiq the Liar.

"Va Khaj Dar - Khajiity's united? M'aiq will join!" M'aiq the Liar

TESO will be pay 2 play. but i really hope they have an ingame real $ shop that you can buy weapon and armor 'skins' (created by other players/modders and approved by bethesda to fit in with lore) for your character. these items should not be tradable ingame they should be set prices like $5 for a weapon $10 for a armor set. half profit goes to modder half profit goes to ZoS for every purchase.
this encourages modders to keep creating skins for the playerbase and at no hinderance to ZoS but filtering through them lore wise and adding them to weekly or bi weekly update patches.
This system will help add diversity with customisation and means we wont have most of the player base in the daedric armor 'skin'.
This also gives modders something to work on and we all know the TES modding community is huge we need something to appease our appetites for creative gameplay. We know modding can effect gameplay but this way it has no impact on the game at all.

This is the only thing the cash shop should offer, they are not pay 2 win items just skins for the items you have found ingame.

btw i didnt vote because i dont want to buy pay 2 win items. you need the option......

vote YES - for customizing my character with armor and weapon skins

^ i vote that

I'm good with purely cosmetic costumes and skins. But a pay to win system just screams desperation to me. It says "we don't think we will have enough subscribers or enough copies being sold on shelves so we are gonna make YOU, the player who actually cared enou to pick the game up, yes you we will make you pay even more just to have a half-decent experience." I really like the idea of giving this cash shop to the modders and allowing them to make armour sets and weapons. This just gives ZOS free content to add to the game, most of which would most likely be awesome (you see half the stuff skyrim modders make? Pretty sick). Of course in order to keep it under control I'd say they would limit it to like the top ten a month or something, just to keep it "special" and not flood the game with tons of random armour skins. That way modders who get featured actually feel accomplished.

I agree very strongly in this. Micro purchases help a game maintain steam. Cosmetic purchases and fun trinkets seem fine, i bought them in wow. When you starting seeing boosters or special items its skews the game to favour people with the credit card in easy reach.

You should definately create a topic discussing in game mods on skins of items. I had the idea about this for mmo's playing skyrim recently. So many awesome mods just for cosmetic reasons. For an MMO screaming individuality being able to have a skin mod approved and available to you and others would be a wiked idea

Alot of people seem happy to micro-purchase cosmetics and the like. Do you think this will take value from end game items that may not look as good?

Guild Wars 2 is an awesome example of a MMO that died for me due to ingame purchases. More inventory? $10 please, or worse then that, paying to open a key to a chest you earned as a reward for finishing a zone -_-.

I played Star Trek Online for a while, and it seemed that there were many items you needed RL cash in order to get, or in order to get it without crossing your fingers for 6 hours a day, 365 days in a row to get it. I have also played MMOs where you can 'pay to win' so to speak, but it only advances you faster, not give you unmatched items of power. If the 'pay to win' option is going to really skew the power balance between non paying players and paying players, then I am not in favor. If it is just so you can go through 25 hours of play time in 5 hours, then I don't really have an issue with that. I for one will be looking forward to every hour of the game and will not want to skip or fast forward through anything.

The bottom line is this is a sticky issue, and I bet there are a lot of people on both sides of the fence.

buying items off a cash shop to hasten your play through(advance you faster) is pay 2 win. TESO will be sub based they wont allow pay2win.

im just hoping they open the door for the modding community, so we can create skins for armors/weapons and sell them in the cash shop. transmorg your current gear to look like the skin you buy off the cash shop doesnt improve the stats only changes the look. this is the only stuff id like in the cash shop. i like what ferroc said earlier about the top 10 dev choices of armor and weapon skins created by modders per update bi weekly or monthly being added to the cash shop. gives the modder a sense of achievement when their skin gets approved by ZoS and they see players buying it.

other than that nothing else is needed in a cash shop.
it should all be grinded for ingame

(more time you put in the better you are)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
