I know it might be shocking for some people seeing me kicking in a negative post, but as people say, there is first time for everything

I would like to highlight couple of pictures Sordak took from the E3 video that made me a very sad dunmer

Here you can see the new giant. Instead of the ES-realistic giant we have been presented before (http://images.uesp.net/thumb/0/0d/SR-cre...ant_02.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pla...1ik#t=119s), this one looks much more pretty (read generic), obviously having hairdresser and taking great pride on his hair. As Sordak pointed out, he misses the swirls over his body, which are the language of the giants that used to be understood by Nords (and perhaps still is, as cows ment as tribute in Skyrim were painted with them)

Probably Coldharbour, hopefully Coldharbour. If its in Tamriel its nonsense, we have seen vampires in dwemer ruins and castles, we have seen necromancers in caves and abandoned forts, but we havent seen one of those in Tamriel. Lets face it, this gate reeks with Lich King Arthas coming out of it and Naxxramas floating in the distance. Again entirely new level of generic fantasy being pushed into Tamriel

A Harpy, we havent seen those since Daggerfall. Execept that in Daggerfall we have actually seen them as old hags combined with bird body http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:DaggerfallHarpy.gif - unfortunately our ESO harpy apparently immigrated from a korean mmo

Those being the few new pictures we were shown, I am really worried about the gritty feel of Tamriel we have been always presented and many of the fans love. Is this a turn to appeal larger (younger) audience and people with lower attention span playing consoles? I am not entirely sure if this is the right direction and where is the borderline. At this point, I wouldnt be much surprised if I meet a gang of hobbits on their way to Red Mountain, insisting they need to throw some ring in there

God damnit. I hate the way the new giants look, I saw it and immediately thought 'Why is that elf so tall?'
That castle with all the skulls everywhere better be Coldharbour, I thought it was Coldharbour because well, it doesn't look like Tamriel.
Why is that harpy wearing make up?

I noticed this a while ago already, so it wasn't really new to me when I saw the most recent trailer. A certain amount of grit is certainly missing in ESO, and even though I'd much prefer it a bit more gritty and mature it's clear that with certain things they go for a more generic approach. Blame the T-rating. A shame, but overall not a dealbreaker to me personally.

Agreed, this is a big step down from and doesn't look like something out of TES. The mer also look more like generic fantasy elves, though some improvements appear to have happened.

Its the little details that make TES stand out, I hope they don't forgo them all because they think most of the playerbase won't care and other things are more important.

It looks like that Dunmer is in Skyrim and his forehead looks made out of rock. Probably was Cold Harbor and is that the first pic we are getting of Coldharbor? I know we have seen the anchors before. I can't see the giant (strong filters at work) but the harpies are an improvement IMO. I like pretty harpies but just as deadly and I like them to cackle and scream as they go down.

I agree with that giant, it made me cringe a little bit. The rest, I guess I didn't take notice. :/

There is another comparsion of a Hagraven and Harpy. You wouldnt even guess they are from same game
[Image: ge3xToY.png]

While copying hagraven went ok, because the did stick with Elder Scrolls model, the harpy is clearly a korean disaster

Perhaps I've played too much Lineage II since I like the harpy. Hagraven is indeed awesome and Tamrielish looking

Perhaps all the models we have already seen will still be in the game, but these are just new ones, because who wants to see that same giant model and skin all the time? Honestly maybe these are just more skins also in the game. Think about it. That's a good thing. To have variation in enemy looks? Something generally lacking in a lot of games. Why do all harpies have to be old? I'm sure there is such a thing in Tamriel as young harpies. Hagravens are still there and to me those things are way uglier than a harpy. Hagravens were actually the only thing in Skyrim that generally creeped me out. I think that says something about the grittiness.

Also didn't anyone notice the DAEDRIC TITAN?? That was there. It seemed cool.

Not all the giants have to look the same. It is possible they have different hair on different giants.

Young Harpy is fine, but we are talking Korean Sexy Makeup Harpy here. Do you realize in Elder scrolls not even women wear makeup? Harpies apparently do

Daedric Titan is there becase we want dragons but we cant call them dragons because of lore. Go figure.

No. They aren't dragons. I doubt that was a major reason to put them in the game. People wear warpaint in TES tho. Think about it. We don't even know exactly what this thing is anyways.

Yes I know. I was just saying. Really though I don't see this as a huge problem. It's not like the presence of this whatever it is is gonna change anything. All the other models and stuff are still gonna be there. Like ZOS has said, they use a lot of the old textures and such from older games. But what I see here is they are also adding some new ones.

I'm seing a lot of reasonings without anything to back it up.. Chill guys! I doubt ZOS will be stupid enough to make this a "generic" MMO.
