I attempted to preorder the imperial editions digital copy from ESO.com yesterday. However, its trying to charge my card the full price of game now. Is that intended?

I've preordered hundreds of games over the years and have never paid full price till release date. anyone enlighten me on this?

I thought that would happen if you pre-purchase. I have pre-ordered things int he past and never was charged before the product was available.

a preorder is from a retailer and can be either paid in full or incrementally. A pre-purchase is for the digital version from the ESO store and is paid in full

No, if the game is pre-purchased (digital versions) your card is charged immediately.

I could be wrong since I've traditionally done my preorders at brick and mortar stores, but online pre-orders might require the full amount. Different stores have different policies about preorders as well so I would research that and see what options you have.

If you were to go to gamestop you would probably preorder like normal. Online a preorder is more of a pre purchase. Not sure if you ever used steam, but any game you preorder on that is paid in full and most online stores act like that.

If you bought it at the Bethesda store, they are selling digital copies only. And it is pre-purchase so they will charge your credit card.

If you pre-order it, they refer you to a third party retailer for the physical copy. I wouldn't think they'd charge your card but I've not pre-ordered so I don't know.

I pre-purchased and it immediately charged my card. But yeah. Anytime you pre-order something from gamestop, you can put as much as you want toward it as long as you pay in full on the release date.

Do a pre-order from a Gs or something and you can put down like 5 bucks. Doing It the digital route will charge you In full.

I'd rather pay in full or start an incremental payment anyway. It would guarantee that I'll be getting one rather than being bumped down the list if there were too many pre-orders.
