I want to hear everyone's thoughts, opinions, ideas, or facts about ways currency will be important in TESO. What ways would you like to see TESO keep currency relevant? For example some games do lose the value of their currency and it becomes a pointless factor.

probably gold.
we know that septims dont make any sense. So it hink gold could actually be the only the currency that the various kinds of factions would agree to use.

Additionaly, it would not suprise me if the reman empire would have used an early form of the Draken as currency that was then continued to be used.

From a gameplay standpoint what interrests me most is if we will see a system we see in most MMORPGs. by that i mean dividing currency into various different kinds as in 100 copper are 1 silver 100 silver are 1 gold and so on.
it doesnt realy fit into TES but makes more sense in avoiding extreme inflation.
They will most likeley have a few money sinks including mounts and fast travel.

With currency comes gold farmers... hopefully this is something that the creators can find a way to diminish.

I hope/expect that there will be many forms of currency, most of them not tradable. This way you can avoid much of the gold farmers/botting problem that ruins many MMOs.

I expect gold to be the only currency that is tradeable and that you will not be able to use gold to buy a full endgame gear set, or anything gamebreaking.

I am hoping that gold will only be used to buy consumables that other players craft, i.e. alchemy potions, enchatments etc.

For everything else, I hope that there are reputations and other forms of currency.

wait. you both want basically no currencies?
yeah thats not going to happen.
At all.

Also reputation? Thats just another stupid grind mechanic, im not having any of that thank you very much.
Also we know that for endgame gear you will need both raiding and crafting. so i suppose you cant just "buy it"

With MMOs comes gold farmers. Tragic, yes, but that's how it is. Any game that maintains a persistent environment in which a player can consistently find better "things" for him/herself is conducive to exploitation. You're never going to get rid of farmers, the best you can do is to mitigate their influence.

Doing things like not implementing a currency to avoid farmers would have the net effect of hurting gameplay, not security. If they can't get you to buy money on the black market, they'll sell mats, items, leveling and just about everything else.

Money doesn't drive it, its just the lowest common denominator.

Non tradeable gold would be nice. Hate having to farm and compete with gold buyers.
