CHAPTER I: Days Passing

One Day, in a Daggerfall Market... <---Background Music

The market was bustling. People left and right. Luscious smells and sights, the jingling of coins, the sounds of market talks and the criers, boats in the near distance. The market was oddly relaxing to Levin.

Such diversity. Noblemen, beggars, and everything in between. So many people. Levin grinned at the thought. More pranks to pull. Being a child, he was obsessed with being entertained, and, well, he always took what he wanted. Pranks were what every eleven year old was doing, though not all of them had been made to be mentored under a merchant. "What a waste of time" he had thought. To make matters worse, his tendency to speak his mind only made things rougher. Daggerfall was not easy on a child. Nor was being nobility.

He had found an apple that had many worms in it at his manor. He brought it just for some lucky customer. Levin nonchalantly strided over to the apple basket and placed in his gift. No more than a few moments later did a new customer arrive at the stand. She examined some fruits, then picked out some apples, strangely without checking them, including his special apple. She purchased them and walked off. The boy was frustrated at the fact she hadn't eaten it on the spot.

The sun drew close to the horizon. People dissipated. He cleaned up at the stall and went to collect his horse. Alas, it had been stolen. So he walked miles upon mies back to his home. He arrived to find his father, looking more like a warrior than a businessman, speaking to a client. They concluded with a handshake as he drew close, and the scrawny client scurried back to his horse drawn carriage.

His father, Maqari, had worked from the bottom and made a name for the Adelais family. Maqari was born into slums, and his parents both died at an early age. His father, by Altmer raiders. His mother, murder. She was heavily but mostly secretly drug into skooma trade. That is, almost undoubtedly, the cause for her murder. He raised his sister on working in the market and stables, but saves his fathers inheritance for himself. His mothers goes to his sister, Adjuda. He used the inheritance and some savings to buy a market stall. He used the income that brought to buy more stalls, and more, then shops, until he owned an entire square. He bought a small manor for his family on the outskirts of Daggerfall. He was a noble, every cosmopolitan's dream, a living success story.

"Ah, my beautiful son. How was the market today? Busy, I hope?" questioned his father. "Yes, of course, father. Your market always is. More importantly, my horse was stolen!" "Ah, but it was not. I had a servant go to town, and retrieve it." Levin obviously confused, Maqari quickly added "I wanted to see how you would react. A test. And you passed!" "What was the point of this all?" asked the still confused boy. "You see, Levin, you think like the the successful man. Instead of paying your hard earned gold you made in the market for some stranger to bring you back here, you walked. You used a little effort to ensure your hours of work actually meant something. For that, I am again in an exquisite mood. I thank the Eight Divines that I was blessed with such a son." Maqari hugged his son affectionately. Then they went inside. His mother was preparing the table.

Levin's mother, Ayani, was already nobility at birth. She lived a life where she got what she wanted, when she wanted, but usually didn't abuse that power. She met Maqari, and they fell in love over time. She was a very plain woman, with a hint of elegance. Truly, her first and foremost concern was for Levin, for he was an only child.

When she saw Levin, her face bloomed with a smile, like that of a Domica Redwort in Rain's Hand. She said nothing, but kissed him on the forehead and returned to her duties. His father announced "We will leave in three days to visit my sister. I expect there to be no complications."

Levin's aunt Adjuda was very intelligent, and quaint. She married a farmer, Miduus I, and lived in between Daggerfall and Camlorn. He had sprawling lands, and was a relatively successful farmer. He was a simple man, though he was bright and kind-hearted. They had 4 children: Caadun, Deris, Isamina, and Miduus II, ordered youngest to oldest. Isamina being the only girl.

Silence embraced the room for many moments, until Maqari broke the silence. "Well then. Shall we dine?"

I would like to thank @Sahar for inspiring me to write!! I really hope to elaborate this story in time!! If you read it, please drop a comment. I will really need some inspiration if I am to continue writing, but I'm not going to if no one likes it. Remember, this is the first chapter, meaning I intend to build a story on it. Thanks again if you read!!

I would like to add, more story is supposed to take place in a later stage of his life... It wouldn't always be this boring, but it's an introduction. If you read this, PLEASE drop a comment.

I just read this on the TKO site, and I'm going to repeat what I posted there: this is very good! I'm grinning like an idiot because I obviously recognise the set-up you used ;) This story delivers a good insight on a family of Daggerfall and their relationships. The music is very fitting too, I love it :D

Please write more in the future!
