Little depth?

I think most of us can agree that Skyrim, while expansive, was lacking in depth. What you did had little effect on the world, characters had few lines, and the game (to me at least) felt manufactured and not very real.

I can't help but worry that TESO may have even less depth. The world is supposedly the biggest since Daggerfall, and is going to be focused on PvP and other multiplayer experiences. Is there anything to suggest that this will be akin to a TES, rather than just an MMO?

Fear neither pain, nor darkness, for Heaven waits for those who die with weapons in their hands and courage in their hearts!!!

We've been told our actions have a big impact on the world.
For example, you save a city from werewolves in a quest. Next time you visit the city, there won't be any werewolves attacking, and everyone there will great you as their hero.

Actually, despite all the NPC's in Morrowind that stood around all day, I felt as if I could be living in Vvardenfell, whereas Skyrim with all it's AI and graphic improvements still felt plastic.

That's fortunate, at least. I suppose we won't know until beta.

Lack of Khajiiti subspecies, Tolkienization of the Altmer, Transcription Error, hidden cannibalism etc.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

ok ok shut up everyone.
I am as annoyed as you are by the transcription errors. but thats not the thread for this.

In fact. As far as we can tell, we will have more impact on the world as any other TES game in a LONG while.
And no i do not count daggerfalls endings, because you didnt even do anything. no matter what you picked all we got was a Dragon Break.

But from what we know. we got some descisions we never had before. Including optional side missions that include saving NPCs. we had that in skyrim too fine. But what we never had was that those characters actually stick with you and help you in new quests:

What we also have is a clear decsicion of wich of two holdings to defend, with the other beeing destroyed.

We also know that we can have lasting impacts in the sense that based on our descisions different statues will be built around the world.

Just a few touches. But i cant remember having any of those things in other TES games.
Id actually say that scripting wise. there were bareley ANY descisions in TES games.

The last mid-game descision that i remember was choosing between skaal and werewolves. That was all i can remember. and the outcome was the same anyway.
Probably the only lasting difference would be killing vivec and skipping the main quest. but thats not canon (or is it? it could be)

So thats actually the one part of the game where i have the least concerns.
