Faction & Race:
Aldmeri Dominion (Altmer)

So, in the Massively article posted recently, the author, Richie "The Retard" Procopio (don't write his name down, it's not that important) mentioned that:

"Sage assuaged most of my fears, however, when he mentioned that once you hit level 50 and decide to play in another alliance's areas, you'll be able to play with friends in that faction. So at the endgame, things begin to open up and you can group up, chat, and run dungeons with players of other factions. The one area where things remain separate is, of course, the Alliance War in Cyrodiil."

Yes. He used the word "assuaged". $10 in the douche jar plz...

Anyways, from watching 3 separate interviews with DEVELOPERS, INCLUDING Paul Sage, but also Maria Aliprando, and Nick Konkle, this is DEFINITELY not the case...

So, how does this new faction thing work?

1) When you hit 50 and CLEAR all the PvE Content in your faction's zones, THEN you get to choose one of the other 2 factions zones to enter.

2) When the player enters these zones, they'll be "seeing the world through their enemy's eyes". And will have access to all the same quests and content of that area, just scaled up to a higher level.

3) Players will only be able to see, play with, chat with, and group with, members of THEIR OWN faction, who completed ALL the PvE content in their own, or both of the other two faction's zones, who are in that same "instance" of the game.

4) Once you complete the second area, (so if you're in Aldmeri, and you go to DC, and then complete the DC stuff) THEN, and only then, will you be able to go and do the content of the 3rd faction's zone (in this example EP).

5) There will be about 120 hours of content per factions zone.

I believe this is fair compromise. Or you prefer faction lock.

Personally, I don't understand the freken reason for compromise at all... Why not just have 2 seperate ruleset megaservers?
One that's full faction-locked RvR-style like DAoC, and one that's full open-world cooperative, where you can group with and chat with anyone you want, with basically no limitations, but also virtually no PvP. THIS would please everybody, not these lame-ass compromises they continue to make which pisses everyone off...

But, as far as this one goes... I can live with it, but I'd prefer full faction-locked PvP.

well it wouldn't pleas me, i like to pvp and pve, but if i go into pve server there would be no pvp or not Faction pride... or somthin like that.
not to mention the fact that there promise about "No Servers" would be a lie. OR we can say my friend hates carebare PvE and likes PvP... we would haw to be separate.

I would not call it "huge lies and deception", more a case of a misunderstanding and a bit of a vague chunk of info that's now cleared up. It's good to know some details on the matter now.

i dislike the faction lock and i do like the fact that i can explore the other regions with my main character :), just the fact that i'll only be able to chat with the plp who have completed ALL the PvE content in our faction's area and only if they have chosen the same area to go to as me aswell! i feel it might get a bit lonely :c. you know, if i chose to go from the EP and help the AD i would like to see a bunch of Mer and Khajiit running about.

any way @Qallidex dya know what would happen if i completed all of the PvE in all of these zones do i then go back to the faction zone where i started? and i take it if i do PvP i fight for the faction my race is allied with?

@quib you wont be "stuck" on other faction, say after choosing to go to DC after you finish EP zone, you can always get back to EP zones by using Shrine.
What they meant is you can only "chat" as in global chat when you in DC zone, and not wisp and guild chat...

I believe that there will be wayshrines, that will allow you to travel back to these zones, of course, the PvP won't change, your faction won't change, but you'll be able to go back to your regular faction's zones, and also the upgraded instances of the other 2 zones at will, via the wayshrine system, I believe.

I would really hate to play my favorite race, a Breton, and never be able to set foot on Morrowind or Skyrim. This is a good compromise I think.

seems good enough a compromise seeing how people biggest complaint with faction locks was not being able 2 visit all of tamriel so 4 the most part well played Zenimax well played.

Journalism now adays :/

Thanks for the headsup, im very happy that they are not locking the Faction Zones. I for one love exploration, so it would have been a huge disapointment for me if they locked the areas.

So this is a nod to all the people freaking out about the way the game was set up in locked factions ..... who says Beth/Zeni don't listen to their player base? And even before the game is formed, let's all keep on talking and expressing our opinions. These peeps listen!

TESO - - Multiplayer: "M'aiq does not know this word. You wish others to help you in your quest? Coward! If you must, search for the Argonian Im-Leet, or perhaps the big Nord, Rolf the Uber. They will certainly wish to join you." M'aiq the Liar.

"Va Khaj Dar - Khajiity's united? M'aiq will join!" M'aiq the Liar
