After watching a couple of overviews, i have learned that players are going to be able to walk through other players and npc enemies. Now i have played my fare share of MMO's and i should have already seen this coming, but since its and elder scrolls game i guess i expected differently. I heard angry Joe say in an interview that it didn't feel like his hits were actually making connection with his enemies, and that seems really immersion breaking to me. I'm sure they can fix this, but it isn't my biggest concern. What i'm most worried about is defending keeps in pvp. If players can just walk through other players guarding their gate, then its gonna be kinda hard to defend it. I'll appreciate other peoples opinions on this, and hopefully one of you can make me stop worrying about it.

~sorry if this isnt the right place for this.

this is being discussed over and over, both systems have strengths and flaws. Devs decided already and I can assure you they are not going to change it

It is a little disconcerting. While yes you need to be able to walk through players to prevent trolls blocking doorways, I wish they could some how implement a way to make allies like that, but enemies (npcs and players alike) solid

This would be the most logical solution, imo.
But then again there always has to be trolls who will block doors on your team..

All gameplay footage has proven contrary though. We have seen people pushing others out of the way as they dropped down into water, for example. I'm sure it'll be a mix of both, perhaps. Friendly zones will allows you to walk through people maybe, but dungeons and cyrodiil will make solid walls perhaps.

Well, they changed first person when everyone yapped enough about it. I just think majority of players don't think this a ~huge~ issue. I personally think they should just have it in PvP so you can't crowd source a single spot with a hundred people around a corner waiting for the enemy to come. In the end - that will probably become a strategy to get the jump on enemy players rather unrealistically.

buuuut I guess nobody cares enough so whatever.

I've heard quite a ruckus a month or so ago about this. Also heard it on some podcasts. I'd like to know which interview OP got this info from. Just cause I'm pretty sure there is collision detection for bodies in the game, I've seen it in trailers I believe. If not, blow this thread up cause I'm hoping ZOS would answer

Well, I think a good compromise would be something in the form of "barricades"/(or magical shield) that can be used to block entry ways in fort sieges.. Do X amount of damage and they crumble, etc...

In Aion, I know it doesn't seem to be an issue. Assuming relatively equal numbers, mass scale pvp doesn't have people just running through each other at choke points. Traps, various forms of CC, and Coordinated AOe's can put a quick stop to an enemy who wants to go through the front line. :)

Besides, I like your idea for pvp, but imagine a crowded city with people trying to walk around each other... The potential for abuse (people annoyingly blocking doors just to be jerks) is too great.

It's for that reason that they should make it only for pvp enemies. That way you can still walk through people from your faction and none of that griefing happens.

That makes sense. Only have enemy players have collision, or group mates in an instance

I believe they did respond to this saying that collision will be in the game, and that when you hit someone the target is pushed somewhat in the direction that you hit them, so if they do have collision for people of the same faction it would be hard for them to block quests because even though you cant kill them you can still hit them and sent them out your way or like I do in skyrim sprint and charge into them (npcs). Also I don't see this being a problem for PvP, no enemy faction would be blocking a quest while afk unless they want to die.

In a huge battle at Cyrodiil like we have seen on a footage, it can be frustrating if there was collision for both ally and enemy players. I think it would be better if there was collision only for enemy players and npc's. But it wouldn't really matter if there wasn't any collision since this is a MMORPG game, not a single player TES game.

Sounds reasonably to me, if running into someone causes them to be pushed aside slightly. NPC's would walk back to their spot, but there would be the danger of having your afk character being pushed off a cliff xD (would be really funny imo^^).

how old were these "overviews" you speak of. I played the beta this past weekend and what i know, is what i experienced. I cant talk about them here because TESOF does not condone breaking of the NDA but first just tell me how old your information is.
