So, many people are medium armour tanks, some are DPS/tank hybrid some are straight up tanks, so do u guys think the medium armour tanks are better (cos stamina) or do u think its totally unviable?

Plz discuss

I think that there is a fine line between being a tank and a warrior. A tank is just made to soak up damage. In the long run, as mainly being a tank, I think heavy armor would be better. Simply because of damage mitigation. Medium armor people might be great tanks, but with the damge output they can do, I just think of them as badass warriors.

Just my two cents.

It depends on what skills you have slotted, but I would heavily lean toward heavy armor being better. More health, more armor, and you get healed more. The stamina isn't a problem at all if you play well. And if you're still having trouble, just bump up the stamina resource a bit.

The main thing I see working on a medium armor tank is Bound Armor from the Sorcerer class. You should be overcharged (or damn close) with wearing medium with that buff active. When you level up you just need to put more of your points into health than you normally would while your armor picks up the slack. I would still give the edge to heavy though because of the other goodies I've said.

There is a nice post on the official forum about it here

I tanked VT Banished Cells with 5 medium and 2 heavy armors (not really enchanted towards health or what, it was just my levelling stuff) being VT6.
Playing with Cinder storm (30% miss) + Elude (20% dodge chance), the goal was mainly to avoid taking damage.
I also had dual wield as second weapon, using explosing embers to add 40% miss on mobs.
I died several times, but usually close to the end of combat and so the others were able to finish the boss.
Actually, the worst was the daedroth boss, because I was obliged to move all the time, therefore cinder storm was useless.
The last boss, I didn't even needed my shield, and I tanked dual wielding all along, with the Cinder/Elude/Explosing amber combo, taunting with the undaunted's skill.

I don't know what is Banished cells difficulty compared to others vet dungeons, but here it was feasible, without much difficulty.
The main problem is that you need to spend 2 or 3 slots for your dodging skills, and if you're unlucky you can get smashed pretty quickly.
On the other hand, you provide more dps.

I'm sure you can also tank with full heavy armor, and no shield. Using armor class skills and dodging skills to mitigate damage. + Undaunted's taunt. I sould try it some times.
