Historically, the elder scrolls has been a game that encourages the MODing community.

As someone who has enjoyed the TES MODing scene,

"What are your thoughts on TESO Moding?

Im no expert, and I am prolly like the majority, and just looking forward to a release.
But, I will ask from the past "players and MODing fans of TES"...what do you hope for in the future ?

Personally, I hope in the future, that MODDERS will be able to continue to add to the game, yes I know, with a MMO I will only be-able to see "my MODS" from my point of view, and others in the server will not notice that I am running a MOD....

But, are they still, (granted the game needs to be in release) going to support the modding community?
Something, I believe has kept the game franchise alive and something that is the best part of playing past elder scrolls games..

Just wondering on others thoughts on the matter...I do not expect modding to be realistic on release, Im just wondering about the subject.

cheers
thren

modding? no.

Addons have ruined WoW and id rather not have any in ESO.
That beeing said, i do want the community beeing invested in the production of content for the community, i made a thread about that here: http://www.tesof.com/topic-user-created-...etic-items

I don't think there would be a capability to mod with TESO, It just wouldn't be viable... Imagine someone with a mod that makes others look like giant walking sweetrolls, while they are trying to slash you with a battle axe, swiping only air, you look at them wondering how much skooma it took to get to that state!
If they bundle a TES creation kit with it, I think they will eventually allow custom creation of armour and weapons maybe even homes and guild halls, but to allow modders to create new cities or lands, would spoil the game.
who Knows, the modders may create even better environments then the vanilla tamriel.

Ahh forgive me, I missed your thread, which I suggest any one with an interest in modding read. I shall continue my discussion there.

You bring up an interesting point that I will bring up here though.
"WOW" ..Ive never played it.
I come from mmo's pre "WOW" , when that game was released I saw alot of good mmo's go broke because of it, and I moved to FPS. So, I cannot comment on your argument, but I will accept it.

I am an TES fanboy. and I carry all the baggage that that entails.

The Problem with WoWs addons was that at the end they made some parts of raiding extremeley easy, especialy for lets say healers.
this meant that raiding was then to be balanced around these addons.
Means that you were required to install them in order to be able to raid efficiently.
And in my mind thats just not a very good way of designing a game.

Because of Mods in WoW, Blizzard ended up just including features into the game as it is.
Last time I played I was doing the highest end raids without mods, and nobody actually knew.
The game literally told me exactly what to do, and when to do it.

I would like to see some more extensive UI settings in the base game, but I certainly do not want addons in TESO.

I wouldn't mind seeing any little UI mods within reason. Minor cosmetic changes would be fine for me, say if people wanted their health, magicka and stamina bars to look different. But any modding to the point that WoW has now reached, where people dont need to know how to actually play, but just follow the flashes on the screen, eh...not too fond of.

I think purely cosmetic mods would be fine. It would be difficult to monitor though. I also think the sweetroll mod guy would be hilarious.

mmmmmmmmmm... Mods in TESO. I don't think it would happen for gameplay aspects but maybe we could ask Zenimax if we could have something like a "greenlight" program for Cosmetic appearances, armor sets, weapons etc. In fact that a page from Minecraft and add Texture packs!

eg. You Search through the greenlight, download a pack and TESO client could add a system to install it for you.

Personally i think that would be quite awesome but thats just my opinion :)

PS. Sweetroll guy - MUST BE ADDED

You can't mod an mmo.......you can have add-ons if they allow it but, you can't mod the game.
