So I was playing Skyrim, as one does, and i was reading the description of the hoses of Skyrim who 'make up in endurance what they lack in speed'. This has lead me to wonder, will there be different breeds of horses across Tamriel depending on the region and will they have different qualities. For example I can imagine an Elven horse being fairly nimble yet very fast. Thoughts anyone?

oops, I voted for the same for everyone :/

Of course I wanted unique horses and mounts for every faction. But not only horses:

I would like to have e.g. Alit in Morrowind and camels (exist on Tamriel?) in Alik´r. So I think it would be realistic every region of Tamriel has a mount that has some sort of speed bonus or endurance bonus in that region. For example camels(?) go best in the desert and suffer in mountains or grassland. The hardened steeds of Skyrim endure the cold but suffer the ashen of Vvardenfel.

But in Cyrodiil I would like everyone to have the same horses. Atleast the same speed.

If an argonian turned into a werecrocodile would there be any difference in appearance? Like, at all?

I think that maybe they could act the same, but look different, like what WoW did.
It's one of the only things I liked about wow, lol.
But seriously, I would want to ride some sort of stealthy mount, like a smallish lizard or a cat.
Or a Khajiit. Put em in their place.

Its a nice idea but if there isn’t mounted combat then besides travelling from place to place there really isn’t any benefit to having different mount types. (Besides looking awesome). I mean charging into combat on a kick arse horse would be cool but if it takes you ages to slowly get of your horse to fight then you leave yourself horribly exposed. Plus imagine all the horse running around in the melee biting players and blocking attacks lol

I think the idea of having racial mounts is excellent.
It makes sense that for example a camel would suffer a drop in speed/endurance in the snowy mountainous Skyrim, or a Skyrim-bred horse in the heat of a desert.
Clearly then, mounts should be race-specific too, no?

As for mounted combat, or the lack of it, Drungarr makes some good points. I'd imagine once you get used to how mount/dismounting is timed, you can plan the precise moment to start dismounting as you enter combat effectively yet still looking cool.
I'd assume horses would simply once dismounted run off to safety until needed, although having them get involved would of course be awesome, it'd certainly add to the chaos of combat.

Mounting/Dismounting could always be instant like in TERA and WoW.
And you'd only be riding them into pve combat, since (I'm fairly certain this hasn't changed, I could be wrong) the devs have said no mounts in Cyrodiil.

I don't really see how having mounts vary in aesthetics would give unfair advantages to anyone.

Also, some place sin Tamriel are just not good for horses. Having the natives rely on horses would look very stupid.

I'd say:
Nord: stout, shaggy horses
Dunmer: Guars
Argonian: Giant snakes. I don't think big quadrupeds would fare well in swampy Black Marsh.

Khajiit: Senche
Bosmer: Big bugs
Altmer: ???

Breton: Charger
Redguar: Camels
Orc: The giant centipedes mentioned in the first pocket guide

Taking into account that there will be only horses as mounts in game, I believe that it would be really nice to give players a variety of breeds throughout the factions, which will differ in traits, body type and color.
