Who out there plans on using Conjuration to raise the dead in TESO? If so, explain how you plan to utilize it on the battlefield, and how it complements your character build. Would love to hear some wild classes that center around Conjuration and Necromancy specifically! I haven't quite decided if I want to make a heavy armor battlemage that focuses on conjuring the dead and also uses a shield and sword, or a Sorcerer necromancer that would wear robes and use bound-spells for armor and weapons.

Considering Mannimarco is one of the first, if not the first master necromancer, as well as one of the main bad guys, I'd bet we don't see much necromancy if any available to players.

On the other hand, Necromancy is fun and cool.

I know, and that's what I've heard too. That was another reason I wanted to bring up this post, for that speculation. But anyways, I just have a hard time seeing them reduce it so much when it's been present and a big part in all of the other TES games.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

"Necromancy, commonly called the Black Arts, has a history that dates back before recorded time. Virtually all the earliest laws of the land make mention of it as expressly forbidden on pain of death. Independent practitioners of the arts of sorcery, however, continued its study."
- Black Arts on Trial, by Hannibal Traven, Archmagister of the Mages Guild. A summary of the salient points of the debate which led to the resolution of the Mages Guild on the subject of Necromancy

It is possible player's are given access to these black arts as sub-school of mysticism with few abilities. No means Mannimarco was the first, but he is one of the most renowned, if not the most skilled necromancer of Nirn, and one of the few who have truly mastered necromancy.

I love the concept of the necromancer in general and always go that route when the option is available. Personally I felt they hit a homerun with necromancy in Skyrim, but that kind of class would be very difficult to pull off in an MMO because mainly waiting around for bodies to drop in this kind of game wouldn't help in a PVP environment and the other thing is that pet classes are a heck of a balancing act server wise and PVP wise.

But that realism aside I would be very excited to see necromancy incorporated into a playable skill set. If we're just speculating for fun though, I would probably build the mage type class around debuffing, DoTs, and life leeching spells. A more melee build would probably be abilities that gives you buffs when you damage enemies or when they die (kind of like a soul devour like type you know?). As for actual reanimation this is where it gets tricky, you could supposedly do what they did in Skyrim and have dead bodies available in enemy filled areas (though random bodies in city raids would look silly), or just summon a very limited number of undead pets to your side. I would make it possible to revive lesser enemies to fight for you for a time but not elites. As for PVPing the only viable option I can think of for reanimation is when you reanimate another player you could summon instead a powerful worm thrall of the character which prevents reviving for a time (assuming the gameplay is like this) and to me that would be an amazing anti healer class for pvp which could effectively nullify your rezzer giving a very tactical advantage in pvp. Like I said this is just an idea for fun nothing solid.

I'm sure they will have a necromancer or conjurer who can summon pets. One of their main goals they said was to make it a good all around game first, even if they have to figure out ways around lore, and thats the most important part. I just couldn't see a fantasy role playing game NOT have a necromancer architype. They've already sacrificed dragons for lore, but they have monsters that look a lot like dragons.

Not Set
Anyone has any idea how could necromancy even work ? Lets say you`re PvPing. Who are you gonna raise, other factions` members ? And what would then happen, I mean, they wouldn`t be able to resurrect until killed again or what ? You could end up fighting a dozen enemies with an army made of their own friends/allies... :D It would be cool though...

Instead of necromancy I'm going to try conjuration with a redguard (as I have done in the previous TES games) will I be able to do this?

Major games uses necromancy among pvp with curses, hex and summons with -% of summoned creature power or with fix stats.

If there is a class that uses skills that could be categorized as "Conjuration school" skills, yes. But keep in mind we are unable to pick "magic schools" etc. We can only pick our class that comes with pre-set abilities (Not in traditional TES way), and the armor & weapon of our choice.

I would loce to see necromancy inserted into the game in a creative manner. A spell that reanimates mob and players corpses would be more than cool! Why not make it an ultimate?

Indeed worthy to put in the category of "Would be kinda cool!"

I have no idea how it will work or if it will be available but if it is. I'M IN! I always loved being a magic type. Be it magician, necro, wizard, enchanter, whatever. Every new game I play, I tend to try different roles but always go back to the magic. This time, I am just going for what I love straight up.
