Have you guys ever tried neverwinter! It has all the aspects that eso has: Voice active npcs, mouse click combat, skyrim style dungeons, and many more features.
what do u guys think of the game? I love it personally!Thumbs_up

I was going to give it a try, but I got sidetracked by Underbelly and Zelda. I'll probably download it once I'm finished with those.

As an old D&D player I'm divinely compelled (by Baravar if you must know) to try any D&D related game to see if it holds up.
I'm trying it and recently helped found the Tamriel Foundry guild on Mindflayer.

I must say I was thoroughly unimpressed at first. I still don't see why the first 10 levels of any game literally MUST be boring. I was about to go back to whatever it was I was doing when these people I had been chatting with asked me to help out with a Foundry dungeon.
It was hectic and I see the true merit of the game now - user created content. User created dungeons are dubbed Foundry dungeons. There are going to be loads of high quality Foundry dungeons. It really is a good tactical action game if you build your dungeons right.

Don't go in there expecting DDO2, or even something that resembles AD&D, because it's not. It's based on D&D4 but even that is mostly by concept and ability names. So far we only get two at-will abilities for example.
I wouldn't compare it to Skyrim either and if ESO has combat like this I'm going to Maryland packing a book of matches and a can of gasoline.

Aside from that the female running animations look silly, fighting is japanesque (my GFW swings a 5 foot greatsword faster than Chuck Norris swings a greased up ferret), and the game is just, well, ugly. Music is horrible. It's generic, uninspiring and seriously lacks dynamic levels.

Currently playing guardian (5) and wizard (12) because those two classes proved to be the most challenging solo. Look me up on Mindflayer if you want to run.

I actually just checked this game out Solduiran. I really love D&D which provides me mixed feelings considering 4th was my least favorite edition though I must admit it makes a much better video game than table top game which I kinda guessed at by its set up. Anyways I don't think the graphics are great, but hey its better than a lot of other shit and his has some stylistic approaches to it which are nice. The animations are rather odd looking for the most part, but at least they tried you know. It may not be fluid, but it attempts to be and for a free to play game honestly it does a good job. As for soundtrack hell didn't even notice it. There are a lot of negative things I could say, but here are my three major positive points.

1.As Skrofler stated the foundry is cool and a great feature where the game beings to shine.
2. The in game voice chat is actually rather functional and very easy to use.
3. HOLY SHIT ACTUAL MINIMAL DUMMY PHYSICS!! My absolute biggest pet peeve is fucking static death animations. I hate them and honestly it is one thing I am terribly hoping they take out of ESO cause currently in certain footage. Though not game breaking it is an eye sore and frustrating. Honestly if a free to play game with probably a significantly lower budget can do it there is no excuse.

So i played it a bit and all i gotta say is MEH.
im pretty sure ill miss alot of details here but the main thing is: This game has no feel.
Literaly none.
it is basically a 3rd person Diablo.

Which is exactly the opposit of what i want from a DnD game.
It is fast paced and has very little exploration. hell there is a glowing line that leads you to your objective. Even in Dungeons!
When you compare it with DDO youll get the picture. In DDO you ofthen have to explore the Dungeon to find the right way, or there are several ways, also in DDO you can actually run while you swing, you cannot do this in Neverwinter which is highly annoying especialy when playing a melee class. The class system is also not nearly as open as in DDO or even than games like WoW.
Every calss can only wield one weapon type.
So a defender warrior can use a one handet weapon and a shield. thats it. A two handet warrior can only use two handet weapons and so on.
its realy quite bad.

The idea of beeing a dynamic game with active dodge and all that is hampered by the fact that you cannot even move while casting anything, and that alot of the charge up abilities take a long time.

At least the enemy AI can do a few tricks. By that i mean they can jump which i supose is revolutionary in MMORPGs.
That beeing said my primary tactic while playing a two handet warrior in that game was to charge up my heavy attack while my enemies got stuck on terrain...

The setting itself is also as generic as it could potentialy be. Neverwinter is an annoyingly medieval town with absoluteley nothing to it which is a shame considering the Neverwinter Nights games actually had a bit of a charm. You know if you were a fan of the Bioware style of games (by that i mean so gay that it literaly shoves its cock up your arse when you dont look)

All in all i can only say: DDO is better than that. and what kind of game is that that gets beaten by a game that wasnt very good a few years ago?
Thers nothing to it if you were to ask me. The lack of any unique artstyle or feeling to it makes it extremeley forgettable. To the point that ARPGs like Path of Exile do a better job at immersion. This is highlighted by the absoluteley out of place action movie music and the weird as fuck Character models that all have the same face. Sure there are alot of sliders. And yes you can play around with alot of sliders, but the face would always look very simmilar. To a quite awfull degree in fact.

Ok i gotta be honest here i did not play around with the foundry yet. maybe thats its saving grace. NVN had a huge modding community. So who knows. And i didnt do the PvP cause HAHAHAHA pvp in a DnD game.
No realy. i find it dull. its not bad. its just utterly forgettable.
Right now if you want to play a free to play MMO with an established setting and a good combat system, go play Age of Conan.

Maybe i find something worth mentioning later down the line but right now im desperatley trying not to hit alt f4 everytime isee an americanized name on an npc in a seemingly medieval town.

Ya, I play it and enjoy it. It does have it's faults (most mentioned above) but I'll be adding this to the list of time killing games til' ESO comes out.

its not worth it. but if youre realy bored you might aswell try.

So i just did one of those skrimish events.
Goddamit thats boring as fuck. Just some generic waves of enemies takes about 5 minutes to beat.
And boy were my teammates braindead. they didnt even realize red-circle = bad.

Another thing ive noticed: if you do not do EVERY quest for the level range, at least in the beginning of the game, the content will outlevel you. Realy fast. I hate that.
I only do 2/3 of the quests in MMOs since i dont like the rest. Thats a general concern i have with MMOs and it realy shouldnt be there.

Also: all the zones so far are linear corridors. sure they might not look like it but they are. this makes handing in your quest a pain in the ass.
Sure the agro range is rediculously low, but avoiding encountes in a corridor is bareley possible. And yes. stupid zone trains are in.
And no the guards dont care unless you run back to the quest "hub" if you can call it that.

Tho i have not mentioned my biggest point here.
its not realy criticism but an observation i want to share.

This game has a TON of moneysinks. Or more to the point two incredibly important systems that serve as moneysinks.
So moneysinks are important. stuff like mounts and skills are used to artificialy fight inflation and create more content in WoW.

Here the systems do come straight out of DnD 1. Potions, beeing a DnD game you can chug them like crazy. the cooldown of 10 seconds is utterly neglectable. And naturally like in any good MMO they are directly tied to level tiers.
Also they are realy expensive and youll probably burn through them realy fast if you play a non tanky melee fighter.
The second system is even more obnoxious but is also from DnD: scroll of identification.
Saying this is just staying true to DnD is of course wrong since the identification roll that every character in DnD could make to pass this without a scroll is gone. Meaning you *have* to buy these scrolls to identify your items.
On the bright side it doesnt appear that those are bound by level. But a moneysink nevertheless.
