This game is very meh...

I am from Australia and all I can notice is delay between abilities, damage etc.. The entire method of battle is generally slow as well. even when cycling through abilities.

I don't know if I even want to continue playing like this. How am I supposed to PvP with the delay? Also, why is the battle mechanic so slowwww!?

Anyone else finding this?

When I first played this game I found combat extremely weird and alien.

After a while though, combine general PVE and fighting other players in Cyrodiil, mostly getting killed instantly in Cyrodiil. I realised what I was doing wrong, the main problem being unconsciously expecting combat to be similar to other games I've played.

Once I gave it an actual genuine first look, I realised how to actual participate in combat effectively and efficiently.

Dodges are life, rolls are life, power attacks are life. Not sprinting everywhere is life.
It's also better to take as little damage as possible from a fight as opposed to fighting extremely fast and destroying everything in the blink of an eye, as yeah. Combat is different in The Elder Scrolls online, slightly. But different none-the-less.

There's two ways to interpret your post: you're having a bad time with lag, or you're having trouble with the weightier feel of combat.

If lag, it sounds like you're getting what the rest of the world calls "Australia Internet". Your internet speed may be fast, but that won't make up for all the directory changes and wires your signal has to go to before it reaches the game server/you. Australia is known around the internet world as the laggiest place to play games in. It's due to your geographical location. That's just simply a fact.

If you're talking about the feel of combat: It's designed that way. This isn't like most MMOs where your attacks auto-launch and you only pay attention to skills. Every attack is a decision that has to be strategically made. If you don't like that feel to it at all, well, not much you can do. Just remember that a LOT of people felt the same way you did when doing their first beta or two. Most people who stick with it though end up really enjoying it. As for PvPing, you just have to think ahead a little and everyone has that slight delay just like you. Don't give up on it just yet: it's only been a single day.

Meh

It's clunky its slow and if indeed each attack needs to be strategized then there is no way this can be done in a latency such as ours here in Australia.

Surprised the game was even released here.

Hope everyone has fun with it but it's just not for me.

Heck I have 800ms ping time MINIMUM W/my satellite Internet, normal is 1000, that's 2sec. round-trip latency; and I can play the game (PvE anyway). My latency so bad that I have to anticipate when to block and do so 2sec. in advance. You have what, ~250ms? I am having probs at Lv10 though, in Beta anyway. Haven't played since Beta, so I am wondering if you are just exp server lag like many others.

I will agree with the OP at this time (hopefully it gets better real soon). The Betas predicted some of these issues. Latency makes some fights just ridiculously frustrating. I don't get Latency issues from any of the top MMOs, and I've played them all. Hopefully this will work itself out.

I also am terribly unimpressed with the constant need to check the Map "M" for quest locations. A better minimap would have been a huge help for those "area-specific" quests. I'm always wandering outside of the designated area and the kill/rewards don't count outside of the circle.

Finally, the quest bugs are fewer but still a huge issue.

All of these things were complained about in beta.

I kept getting booted today, finally spoke with CS and they said the error i was receiving was because too many people were trying to log in and it was crashing the lobby...

I also fell through the world several times.

I have a few quests I cant finish atm because theyre broken so the quests I do have are all orange and out of reach, so I have to grind 300+ mobs to get a level?

And really how hard is it to add a toggle-able mini map

I dont even wanna play this steaming pile right now...such a shame

I hate to be the one that says this, and I am not hating on you guys/gals, but everyone who has had negative posts on this thread, has been a member of this forum a short while (some a day or two, and another a month), and all of you have '0' liked posts. Now, this does not mean your complaints are without merit, but without a more seasoned TESOF member expressing the same sentiments as you guys about the game, it is hard for me to take you seriously, and I even feel that some of you may have only become members to trash the game.

With that being said, I hope ZoS quickly takes care of the bugs, log on issues, etc. to alleviate your problems. As far as the combat goes, if it is not lag you are complaining about, then I can only assume you don't like the active combat and were hoping for something more like WoW and other MMO's where you just mash buttons. If it is the latter, then I am sorry, because unless the DEV's make huge changes, TESO just isn't going to be click fests like a lot of the MMO's out there.

Some of the things like the mini-map, may be things ZoS is aware of and will change in the future, or they may not have gotten enough feedback on it during beta to deem it a necessity. Either way, if enough people ask for the mini-map change, I bet it will happen a little ways down the road.

My guess is that the OP has simply bought this game without having tried out the betas. It sounds like that would have been a better idea for you; the last few betas were pretty much open, with the abundance of keys ready for picking up literally everywhere.

Yeah I REALLY live "out in the sticks" here, 10mi (17Km) from the phone "CO", meaning my phone line is that long, and they refuse to put in a repeater. Cable refuses to go down my road, "not enough population density." 4GLte just started in my area a couple of years ago, but I tried it, local reception too bad. So I am stuck W/satellite for awhile.

But this thread isn't about me. Perhaps you will find the "lag" better when less players are on - that's the point.

When you are inside the "area," your compass box glows light blue. When you leave the area, it returns to normal. You have to have the quest selected as your active Q in your journal of course.

There are more seasoned members that have changed stances on the game, myself being one as I have no interest in playing it anymore. I just don't post my dislikes, as I know people who hang out here tend to be fans and have already decided for themselves if they like it or not.

Thank you for the response. It would be nice if folks who have been around and were excited about the game, did voice their opinions however. The reason being, if you have been on this forum long enough, and made enough posts to have more than 1 or 2 likes, then I know you are not just trying to flame on TESO. You have obviously given it serious consideration and for whatever reason, have decided it doesn't meet your expectations, or TESO is just not for you. Would you mind elaborating as to what turned you off from TESO?

I personally feel that the addition of a Mini-map would take a lot away from the TES feel of the game. I wouldn't mind if it was an option so that the MMO players out there can have their utilities to which they are accustomed to and deem necessary for an enjoyable experience. I for one wouldn't want a mini-map on my screen, I like the almost signature, directly from Skyrim, adapted from Oblivion, Compass which I find fulfills all my needs and gives me a nostalgic/familiar feel to the game. To each his own... ;)

However I firmly believe that the fluid/active combat has to stay. It is simply a must... From my MMO experience, which while definitely not even close to considerable, I know that my fore-most problem had always been the button-pushing and skill re-loading etc... I hate the idea of not controlling my character which in essence is supposed to be an Avatar of me (or of a persona created by you if RPing) and TESO's game and combat mechanic finds some sort of middle ground between limited skills and control over your own character...

As for those with poor connection to the servers I feel for you... I wish you the best of luck with your in-game endeavors while hoping some of the issues will be resolved once the EU megaserver proper is actually transported to Europe...

So yeah... That's my point of view...
