Guild Charter

OWL is a mature team focused online gaming community that seeks to foster long term friendships among members and to enhance our online gaming experience by virtue of those friendships

OWL is well organized and caters for casual to hard-core players 18 years or above in a complete guild environment which encourages play style diversity within the parameters of its core values and rules

Core Values

Our core values include, but are not limited to:

OWL only accepts members into its ranks that are of similar personalities and values to its own. All of our members support and follow our core guild rules and anyone who cannot is removed. Our core rules and values are the guiding principles behind moving the guild forward.

We recruit the person, not the character. We look for good people, not a character that meets a specific set of requirements.

Leadership roles in OWL are decided based on demonstrated ability as well as the need for a leader in a particular spot

Members who have a hidden agenda will be removed

Drama queens and self-centred people are not welcome in OWL

Standards of Conduct

1. Members may not use cheats, hacks or exploits.
2. Consensual PvP is encouraged, and a fun aspect of the guild.
3. Upholding all guild core values and rules is required of all members.
4. Members need to behave in a mature, professional, team focused manner.
5. Make friends in the guild. At our core, we are a team of friends. So make friends. As those friendships make us strong.
6. The handling of issues with guild policies or another member is best resolved 1-on-1, via email to a Member of the Council if help is needed, but do not personally attack other members as it shows us the sign that you are not mature enough to be here
7. Backstabbing, ninja-looting, stealing, scamming, or otherwise harming other members is not permitted. It all goes back to our core values that we are a team of friends.
8. Profanity, sexual content, and obscene content are not needed or permitted in guild channels in-game, or in-game chat
9. Griefing and causing misery to other players is strictly forbidden and not the OWL way

Guild Ranks and Structure

OWL is an altruistic dictatorship style guild

OWL has an open door policy towards communication with our Council members who
promote and encourage ideas and feedback from any member being an important part of the process of making the Guild move forward

Guild Council has 3 ranks

Guild Master, Adviser and Squad Leader

Guild Master is the overall decision maker and plans member activities, guild development, progression strategy, guild supplies with delegation given to Advisers and the appropriate
Squad Leaders

Advisers are the second in command and make decisions on disputes based on the core values and rules of the Guild

Advisers implement new goals or policy and participate in the general day to day and smooth running of the guild

The Guild Master will appoint Advisers as required

Squad Leaders are chosen based on demonstrated ability and the management skills needed to fulfil the role by the Guild Master and be responsible for the management of one section of the Guild

Some of those sections will include but will not be limited to Squads that cover basic sections of the guild such as Recruiting, Role Playing, Crafting, Resource’s, Lore, Combat
Divisions and Specialist Squads

Member ranks within Squads will be activity, class, skill and game specific based but are basically the same as being a full member of the guild but with unique titles such as Scout, and Ranger etc.

Recruits are new members of the Guild who are required to go through a 30 day trial period where they are assessed on their suitability to becoming a Full Member of the Guild

Mission Statement (Global)

OWL is an online gaming community that is not game specific. We are dedicated to being a friendly, team focused and fun loving gaming environment where every member is important and not just a number on a roster

We don’t brag about content completed.

We don’t race other guilds to be the first to overcome a collection of pixels on a computer monitor at the expense of our members.

We maintain our belief in team first, members first, friends first while still advancing through end game content and having lots of fun while doing so.

We welcome game play diversity within our ranks who enjoy PvE, PvP, AvA, Content Progression, Raiding, Role Playing, Crafting, Exploring, Questing and Activity Events

We neither approach nor poach players from other guilds and will be only seeking non-guilded players in game or within the looking for a guild section on fan forums

We answer questions as honestly and accurately as we can when asked but be aware that some information is kept within the Guild as we are a private Guild

OWL members are not permitted to be a member of another player run guild although there are some game specific allowances acceptable – Refer Mission Statement (The Elder Scrolls Online)

Mission Statement (The Elder Scrolls Online)

Alliance – Ebonheart Pact
Server – North America
Platform – PC
Time Zone – AEST Australian Eastern Standard Time

Our goal in the Elder Scrolls Online MMO will be to have fun and play as a team continuing to beat new challenges implemented by the developers.

In PvP and AvA we will be very competitive in the roles we play for the Ebonheart Pact

We will have a strong focus on strategic missions for our scouts, resource gathering for our crafters, and equipping our combat squads with the best gear available in defeating our foes

In PvE exploration, questing and crafting will be a massive part of our daily activity

Role playing at all levels is welcome, encouraged and completely optional

OWL will ALWAYS be actively looking for good people within the gaming community that currently play or are intending to play the Elder Scrolls Online MMO who are looking at joining OWL

Because this game allows players the opportunity to be in up to 5 Guilds OWL members are not permitted to be another player run guild although player run guilds that are based on Merchant and Trading are acceptable along with NPC run guilds such as the Mages / Fighters Guild for example

OWL has a policy on recruiting players via a referral from a full member of OWL

In the Elder Scrolls Online game environment the most noticeable thing a guild recruiter when looking at players is the inability to indicate who belongs to a guild or who doesn’t
The ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE MMO has many shortcomings in relation to GUILDS and RECRUITMENT compared to some other MMO's which has led us to making a sensible compromise when overcoming this IN GAME deficiency and a modification to our recruitment policy for this game

It is important to note because of this we are fully aware not everyone will have the opportunity to find an OWL member in The Elder Scrolls Online MMO due to the lack of
GUILD TAGS or TABARDS and other obvious player run guild allegiance mechanisms so The OWL COUNCIL would take your lack of an OWL Member referral into account when applying to join OWL

ALL submissions that exceed our expectations will be regarded highly in our assessment during the joining process

Guild Competitions
Crafting Days
Resource Runs
Guild Activity Events
Game Specific Events

As a general rule ALL people wanting to join OWL need a referral from a full member of the Guild

This is basically a getting to know you and you getting to know us formula which works very well in making a hands on judgement on your suitability to becoming an OWL Member or if OWL is the right fit for you which is just as important

Just like most other guilds not everyone suits every guild on the planet so it would be a waste of your time and gaming enjoyment joining one that doesn’t meet your expectations

At present the only game we recruit from is The Elder Scrolls Online and our Recruitment Policy for this game is required reading if you are wishing to become a member of OWL (Refer to Mission Statement – (The Elder Scrolls Online) under RECRUITMENT MODIFICATION

Member activity is the lifeblood of any guild and we expect members to contribute the time they have in game to be of some value to the Guild

We are not however a guild that forces game time or play style on members unless it is impeding the guilds progress or against the principles of its core rules and objectives

We do expect All Members to contribute or at least keep checking on our website for updates so they can be informed on what the Guild and its members are doing and have planned

Members are expected to become self-sufficient although help is always available for those who need it not for those who continually depend on it

OWL realizes that real life issues do crop up from time to time so members who communicate their intentions of taking a break from the game for any reason can do so and still remain a member of the Guild although their status will be Inactive until they return

Inactive members still are required to at least pop their head in the door to read the website updates or even just to say hello

Without any communication at all we would interpret that as having abandoned the Guild so your inactivity will lead to you being removed from the Guild

OWL feels that leaving the Guild for any reason other than to become an INACTIVE Member is a one way door

We think that if you didn’t like being in OWL the first time then you will not like it the second time around either so your application to re-join submission will be rejected in most cases

We have a Multi-Channel Communication Program (TeamSpeak3) that we use for all Guild Activity even if you want to simply chat or to those without a microphone to just type

Although TeamSpeak is optional we do encourage all members to use it as there are enough channels ranging from group to solo play for all members

Using TeamSpeak will be a mandatory requirement for pre-planned guild organized squad activity, missions, adventure zones and dungeons

Owl Wiki

Member game guides and beneficial content is available on our website Wiki for all members

Members who wish to contribute are welcome to do so for the benefit of the whole Guild

Other Guild information such as policies and other relevant information will also be included

Public Posting

OWL is a private guild and keeps the internal workings and information of the Guild within its ranks and it is mandatory that all members are required to do the same

OWL has its own private and active forums which all members are required to visit regularly

We neither care for nor enter into flame wars on public forums as its usually a no win situation no matter how correct the facts are and is not in the best interests of the guild as we have more fun things to do and achieve

We do however feel that being part of the gaming community valid and helpful content from our members towards properly moderated public forums is encouraged if we find a need to do so

We require all members to speak English at all times

Members will not be permitted to use strict race dialect such as Orc or Drow for role playing reasons and I suggest you are far better off finding a more Hard-Core Role Playing Guild that does

Game Genre

Currently OWL plays the dungeons and dragons fantasy role playing games as our chosen genre

We do however never say never to expand to another genre in the future

Time Zone

OWL is an Oceania based Guild who is more suited to players from countries such as Australia and New Zealand simply because the majority of our member base will be online during those times

Players from other parts of the World are most welcome to join our ranks so long as they understand that the amount of guild members during their normal game time will be in the beginning of this
Guilds existence very small

Be aware that this will not always be the case as our intention to search for potential OWL members from a Global perspective is continuous

Guild Size

We have no limit on member numbers as we find that saying NO to a person that could be ideal who really wants to join us as a lost opportunity due to a fixed number rule so many guilds apply and that would be against what we stand for as a Guild

Role Play

From a Role Playing perspective we are of Chaotic Good Alignment, the Forest is called home and we call Rangers our friends

Role Playing will always remain OPTIONAL and those who choose that path should always be aware that not all members like that style of game play so conversing with those members should always be from you the person not you the character

We do require all members to speak English (Refer - Language)

Guild Colors

Brown and White

While the opportunity can be down to being game specific all members are required to wear the Guild Colors on whatever the game implements when possible and practical

We do however don’t expect members to gimp themselves if stats that are attached to a Cloak for example are inferior to something other than having either our guild colors or symbol otherwise there is really no reason not to wear the Guild Colors with pride

Character Names

Being a member of OWL we expect you to take the name you select to play seriously

All character names are based on game genre, common sense and must be passed by the Guild Master before you wear the OWL guild tag

From the millions of character name choices available any MATURE person can think of an appropriate character name to submit and be confident it will be acceptable

However if your choice submission is of a name that is immature, vulgar, a celebrity, dOOd Speak, aLeTeRd CaPs or symbols and numbers instead of A-Z letters then this Guild is not for you

In ALL cases a Character name should start with a Capital letter - Example Bladestorm is acceptable but bladestorm is not

The same principle applies to 2 or more names such as - Example Rufus Hammerhead is acceptable while both rufus Hammerhead and Rufus hammerhead are not

This applies to Main and Alternative Character names

Current members making a fresh Character must make sure their name is acceptable by simply asking the Guild Master via chat or email

Our Character Naming Policy is SET IN STONE and applies to any member of OWL and those who already have an unsuitable Character Name wanting to join can either delete it, change it or don't join.

Any Guild who claims that they are 100% drama free have only ONE member

When drama eventually shows up what the Guild does about it matters the most

Being a member of OWL is all about FUN and NOT being a Jerk or Moron

Teasing and light-hearted jokes are normal, but if a fellow guild mate asks you to stop, do so. On the flip side, develop a thicker skin.

Teasing is a part of life, and while the Members of the Council will keep it from going overboard, not every joke is reason to take offense.

Insults and blatantly offensive comments will not be tolerated, whether or not you think the person deserves it.

We are not a family orientated Guild so some cussing is to be expected and acceptable but there is a line and being constantly vulgar and obnoxious is stepping over that line

Do not complain about someone or their play style. Suggest how they can improve. Failure on their part to heed such suggestions is not grounds for you to hassle them about it. If it is something that impedes the guild’s progress, talk to a Member of the Council, if not let them to play the game.

When making the commitment to join what is basically a fresh start Guild albeit with leadership that has decades of MMO Gaming experience we at OWL do assume that you have read and understood the general rules, standards of conduct and our core values that every member of OWL abides by

We look for mature people of good character who are fun to play with and who seek to become a long term guild member

On our website you will see an application to join form that you need to fill out as it is a mandatory requirement before being an accepted member of OWL

Please be diligent in your application as the quality and accuracy of your answers will be a factor so you would be advised to read everything on our website as it will be obvious to us if you haven’t

We feel that anyone who is REALLY interested in a guild should want to know as much as they can beforehand and your submission would reflect that

OWL has a policy on recruiting players via a referral from a full member of OWL

The ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE MMO has many shortcomings in relation to GUILDS and RECRUITMENT from other MMO's which has led to making a sensible compromise when overcoming this IN GAME deficiency

It is important to note that not everyone has the opportunity to find an OWL member in The Elder Scrolls Online MMO due to the lack of GUILD TAGS or TABARDS so The OWL COUNCIL will consider your lack of an OWL Member referral on board and ALL submissions that exceed our expectations will be regarded highly in our assessment

After making your submission you will be advised via the submitted email whether your application has been successful or not

If you are successful a follow up email will give you the information necessary to REGISTER to our website

Upon registration a password to our website will be emailed to you and enable you access and be part of our growing gaming community

Crafted Items

OWL will always have a rule that anything a member can make or produce is always done on a FREE OF CHARGE basis to another member of OWL

The responsibility to buy, gather or trade for the correct materials is the responsibility of the member wanting the item made not the Crafter

Through communication with your crafter the item you want made in an agreeable timeframe can be worked out between you both as nobody should expect crafters to drop everything on a whim.

We don’t care if you accumulated your rare recipe while in another guild before joining us or not as the rule applies to every member of OWL

Our Crafted Items Policy is SET IN STONE and will never be changed in this Guild
Guild Alliances

Under normal circumstances we see no need to ally with another player run guild

There will be some occasions where there will be some beneficial or strategic reason for us doing so but in all cases such alliances will be temporary.

The appropriate section for any Alliance inquiry is via the Contact Us form on our website.

Successful applicants will be known as Recruits and they will be required to participate in a mandatory 30 day trial period where they will be assessed at the end of that period on their suitability to becoming a Full Member of OWL

While recruits will have some restrictions to the access to things like guild bank withdrawals for example as a recruit you are more than welcome to ask for help, general questions and requests for items that any Full Member has access to
