So commonly in TES games are a very special hero capable of accomplishing amazing feats of awesome.

Im wondering what our position is in TESO, since we cant all be godmode genius master of all arts bad asses.

I personally would like to feel more like a solder/guard, nothing special, just somebody trying their ass off to survive let alone achieve greatness.

Thoughts?

The main quest line is single player and as you go through it the characters and world reflect you so you will be able to feel like a hero. If you save a town from a werewolf attack, when you go back to that town they will remember what you did (I think that's what they meant...) There is a video that discuss' this somewhere on youtube I think.

Single player yes, but the devs have said that you and a friend or more then one friend can do all of those main story quests together if you want to...

Single-player games generally offer more of the demigod experience, I think. Single-player games generally have a stronger narriative than MMOs as well. I'm interested to see how TESO improves on that.

This is a good point. While newcomers to the MMO genre will generally feel that they should be exalted above the common folk, those who are familiar with the formula will feel a bit weird if they start getting praised individually by NPCs. I know that's how I felt (having come from an almost MMO exclusive background) when I first played Skyrim, the whole idea of immersion was a foreign concept to me and I didn't entirely know what to think.

Personally, I would prefer to feel like a common soldier (as I'm playing a Nord Tank, the most generic of all classes) so that my station is befittingly rewarded, but if I get praised as the hero of Tamriel while my just-as-worthy friends are ignored, I guess I'll get over it with more gameplay.
