As many know, warfare rp's tend to end in a lot of arguments and never will you find everyone pleased. However I have seen that many people enjoy the political aspect of those rp's, with all the backstabbing and big power struggles.

The setting is feudal High Rock, this province is made up of many little kingdoms and city states.

Me: Wayrest

Alator: Daggerfall

Great and noble House Gaering:

House name: Gaering

House location: Wayrest

House motto: Strength, Honour, Glory

House crest/coat of arms: Red lion on a black shield supported by two red fire breathing serpentine dragons

House history: The first noble of house Gaering was Theodane Gaering who grew up the ranks in Daggerfall's army with his prowess in serving the king loyally. He was awarded a high place in the Knights of the dragon and one day stopped an assassination attempt on the kings only heir. He was swiftly awarded nobility and a small castle in glenumbra which soon came to be known as Gaering castle. Since the death of Theodane the Gaering family have been serving daggerfall loyally, rallying troops in times of war and being stern supporters of the monarchy in times of unrest. Edwyn Gaering was tasked with bringing down a rebelling house known as House Kingsmith. Edwyn with the help of his troops and a few other noble houses burst into the walls of their enemies castle and slaughtered them. Edwyn faced the head of the enemy, Andane Kingsmith, in one on one combat and eventually won. As a reward the king awarded Edwyn the lands of the Kingsmith family, which included an almost un touched gold mine. House Gaering soon became a rich and powerful house in Daggerfall.

A few smaller houses resented how house Gaering became so powerful and rich, they wanted all their power for themselves... These houses devised a plan to rob the Gaering's of their, power, money and standing in the realm and managed to frame Bedistyr Gaering for the murder of the kings sister. Bedistyr however managed to escape with his family, soldiers and most of his wealth before the whole family was executed. Bedistyr feld to Wayrest where he sought the protection of the nobles there. Of course being a so called murderer, ruined his family's reputation and he died an outcast. His son, Uthard, decided that the only way to keep his family alive was to do great deeds for the king of Wayrest. He bought a ship and a crew and decided he would take to the sea and route out pirates that had been terrorizing the seas of Wayrest. Although there were little men still loyal to House Gaering they managed to board and capture an infamous pirate ship that had been plaguing the trading vessels of Wayrest for a little over two years. Uthard brought the captured captain and his loot back to the King as a gift. The king saw the goodness in Uthard's heart and decided to reward him for his deed by giving him a small plot of land near the coast which soon boomed into a small trading hub. This new land and trade brought a new and long awaited fortune to the Gaering family, who after many decades of tributes and bringing aid to the king were finally made into nobles.

After centuries of service to the Rulers of Wayrest, House Gaering became very powerful, rich and controlled more and more land. When the king and his heirs were mysteriously assassinated, Edwayn Gaering became king. The Gaering family have ruled Wayrest ever since that tragic assassination. The current ruler is Theodyn Gaering.

The first noble of the Virane family was named Dunard Virane who lived from 1E 362 - 1E 443. Dunard gained his status by helping the king of Daggerfall by driving away a gang of raiders from the area with his magic. On his new lands Dunard discovered a large mine that proved to be rich in gold, and deeper down one of the miners found that the mine also cotained sapphires, wich led to that the Viranes grew wealthy.

Dunard spent the rest of his days studying magic and lore. He also started a small trading company in Daggerfall. Eventually in a cold day in frostfall in 1E 443, Dunard Virane fell into sleep to never wake again.

House De Reve

House name: House De Reve

House location: Jehanna

House motto: We live our Dream

House crest/coat of arms: A white raven on a dark blue and orange field. At closer inspection, the form of the raven, with it's wings and head, vaguely resembles a crown.

House history: House De Reve is one of the more recent additions to the breton nobility, having been raised to noble status only 9 generations ago. The family had been one of landowners and held local power in the eastern part of the Kingdom of Jehanna, and Tristain's ancestor, Flavien, eventually rose to power by becoming personal advicor to the King in matters of infrastructure and taxation. At his death, his son Frederik was rewarded with the title of Count, and his two brothers Alan and Rikard with that of Knight. But the true fortune ofthe family came years later, during one of the endless conflicts between Jehanna and Evermore. Alan had already died in a previous conflict, but both frederik and Rikard led their armies into battle at the gates of Jehanna while the city was evacuated and the High Nobility fled. Both of them died in the battle, but the only remaining descendant, Lucien, son of Rikard, was granted his uncle's county and a marriage to the youngest daughter of the King, but it was clearly stated in the contract that he had to renounce to any claim on the royal family's titles. Lucien accepted, but at the premature death of King Elric and the ensuing turmoil (the king had died without direct male descendants) he seized the opportunity to claim the title of Duke and expand his territories considerably. In only 3 generations, the De Reve had become one of the most powerful families in the area. And as dukes and with a direct marriage with the royal family, they had powerful claims on the throne of Jehanna, which Lucien's grandson Flavien II decided to press. During a war against Farrun to expand further west, Flavien accomplished many great deeds and was repeatedly rewardedby the king himself. King Laurent VI was a weak monarch, and became soon dependent on Flavien to rule his nation. The Duke knew this and after the war donated all the conquered lands to the crown, asking for a single thing: That his daughter married Laurent's son. The King could not deny him this wish, but many other nobles, looking at the De Reve with distrust and even hate, didn't accept this and rose up in rebellion. Flavien offered himself to lead the king's troops, as well as those of the nobles that remained loyal, against the rebels, but fought a mainly defensive war, wanting to artificially create a tense situation to depose the King. This changed when rebel soldier stormed the king's palace, burnt it down and killed Flavien's daughter and her husband, the King's son. Mad with rage, Flavien began a true crusade against those he held reponsible for his daughter's death and anyone who dared oppose him was swiftly killed. After two years, the Kingdom was in ruins, poor and weakened, and with a more than half it's nobility dead or exiled. Flavien then dethroned Laurent and crowned himself King of Jehanna. The next three generations of the family (King Deric and King Alan) dedicated themselves to rebuilding the Kingdom. The violence of the previous years was a thing no one spoke about, and the few nobles from the earlier time that were still alive were loyal to the new rulers. The last king before Tristain was his father, also called Tristain, a wanderer more than a monarch who, in order to strengthen the military, made a pact with the Reachmen, allowing them to settle in the eastern fringe of his realm.

House leader bio: Tristain Rikard Deric de Reve was born from Tristain Leurent De Reve, King of Jehanna, and Aurelie du Haute-Bellegarde, Princess of the small nation of Bellegarde, south of Jehanna. He grew up in his family's residence in Jehanna, but enjoyed the stays on the summer palace in the countryside more. As young man he loved to hunt and practice fencing, typical noble sports, but also enjoyed travel by sea, a more humble amusement. When he was 16 years old, his father allowed the Reachmen to settle in the eastern part of his kingdom, an area now know as “The Enclave” o “Lower Reach”. At 21 years of age, on th 5th anniversary of the treaty between Jehanna and the Reachmen, Tristain was declared Protector of the Lower Reach and took up residence there, serving both as an ambassador to the Reachmen as well as military commander in the area. During his stay he became interested in the Reachmen's customs and tradition, as well as many strange or unusual things, stories and legends. He started to study a lot, even things a noble breton would usually never get to know, he became a decent sailor and member of the community of Reachmen, and eventually fell in love with one of their princesses. Her name was Aessa. Tristain had some experience regarding relationships (the Jehannian court was very libertine at the time) but never truly fell in love untill this moment. They began to meet, and started a secret relationship. After two years Tristain wanted to tell his father and ask him to marry the princess, but it did not come this far. Aessa'sbrother discovered the relationship and challenged Tristain to a duel. The young prince fought heroically but lost. Disarmed by his opponent, he tried to stop his blade with his armored arm as he tried to kill him. As a result, he lost a finger of his right hand and his right arm is covered in scars, but his life was spared. He had, however, to return to Jehanna, where his father punished him for dishonoring his family by falling in love with a barbarian woman. He was locked in one tower of the castle for an entire year, alone. He was released on his 25th birthday he was released but not sent back to the Lower Reach. Instead, he buried himself in his studies and strange interests, starting to see himself as some sort of scholar, studying the absurd and bizarre. When his father died and Tristain ascended to the throne, at 29 years of age, his interest in these things only grew, and it is rumored that his castle is a museum of bizarre and extravagant curiosities and that his library cotains hidden and forbidden knowledge. In reality, Tristain makes sure these rumors continue to circulate, while his main concern are now his people. He has proven himself an ableleader over the past few years. Tristain is currently 32 years old.

House members: Tristain Rikard Deric II De Reve, King of Jehanna; Adelaide Greystone, née De Reve (his sister); Thomas Arvald IV Greystone, Duke of the Vale (brother-in-law)

House allies: Greystone Family (Duchy of the Vale), Reachmen, Haute-Bellegarde Family (Principality of Bellegarde)

House enemies: Evermore, Farrun. The relations to every conservative noble family in High Rock is somewhat uneasy because House de Reve allows the Reachmen to reside in it's lands.

House Strenght: House De Reve can field a professional army of approximately 2000 men, out if which 400 are knights. In times of need, the population can be recruited, and an additional 2000 Reachmen can be sent into battle. This makes Jehanna one of the most powerful nations on the land. However, it's fleet consists of only 12 ships.

Family Residence: Since the old palace of Jehanna had been burnt down, Lucien II started building his own residence, where the old palace stood, and his descendants have continued to improve the building. It is a truly imposing castle, with a main hall big enough to host the King's court, but the architecture is stern and unadorned. The family also has a summer residence, in the mountains east of Jehanna, which has been transformed by tristain into a gallery for the bizzare objects he has found during his travels and which he loves to collect.

Clan Motto: Ní chuirimid géilleadh (We do not kneel)

Clan Crest: A Golden Wolf's head on an Azure Template underneath Three Golden Five-Pointed Stars on a Black Template.

Clan Members:

Head of House:

Name: Cinaod mac Dargail (or mac Iugha) ua Mogrin

Title: Ard Rí na Reacha (High King of the Reach)/ Chief of the Witchmen/ Wolf of Locrabail/ Son of Iugha

Age: 27

Appearance: Stands at 5'11" with his golden brown hair swept over his ears and halfway down his kneck to his shoulders, but kept above his eyes by a braid. He has a thin beard and an easy smile, with gray eyes. Facial appearance not as bulky as his kin. He carries a single sword, named Cusaor, which is an enchanted blade from an era long past.

Skills: First and foremost; his cunning and manipulation. He has worked his way from a minor clan to the king of the Reach with only a single large battle, when he was already nearing his goal of uniting the tribes of the Reach. He has skill as a warrior and a tactician as well, having stood on the front lines of the anvil at the Battle of Trasnig Ford.

Personality: He uses his wit and charisma to inspire those around him to support the Reach, rather than fear to rule it. He is a likeable man, but is not an honourable one. He has used many dishonest ways to complete his goal. He strongly supports the idea of the means justifying the ends.

Backstory: Being born looking nothing like their father may have been a disadvantage for many people, but fortune smiled upon Cinaod, giving him the misty gray eyes of the Old God Iugha. This led to rumours of him being, not the son of a minor chieftain, but the child of a god.

The clan naturally pressed with this significant advantage, despite them all knowing that the gray eyes came from his maternal grandfather, who had died unknown. Soon, the devout king of Locrabail (Daghan) sent for him, hoping that the gods may help him, as his lords were plotting to overthrow him for his younger brother (Loghan).
Cinaod, at the age of fifteen, saw his loyalty to the present king, and began to work to protect his liege lord. He immediately hired agents to work in the king's brother's and his supporters' houses and find information. Finally, through discreet sources, it became apparent to Cinaod that the King's third and youngest brother (Merghin) had secretly converted to the Divines. Cinaod confronted Merghin with this evidence, causing him to fall on his knees and beg. Cinaod told him that he would remain silent if Merghin were to orchestrate the death of Loghan. He recommended his own man as an assassin. However, when Loghan was dead and buried, Cinaod recieved evidence that his own man had killed Loghan on behalf of Merghin and showed it to Loghan's wife, who took immediate vengeance. Merghin did not have a chance to speak in court before his head was curiously misplaced. Cinaod then sent three more of his men to deal with the assassin, saying that he also had a part in the murder; tying up any loose ends.

After this, Daghan made Cinaod his heir for as long as he was childless, as he was now without brothers. Cinaod then hired a wisewoman to make a potion, which would prevent the conception of a child. He then made sure this was placed in the Queen's drink every night. When Cinaod reached the age of twenty-two, Daghan died peacefully and the first son of ua Mogrin became king of Locrabail.

But he knew that the Reach was weak. The petty kings warred constantly with each other, and more and more Reachman were falling under the kingdoms of High Rock and Skyrim. He realised that the Reach needed a strong leader to defend itself and to reclaim what was lost.

Using his own claim as the son of Iugha and his brother Faodri's renown as a warrior, he gathered supporters from all corners. Through a series of campaigns which took half a dozen years, most of the Reach came under the control of Cinaod ua Mogrin, although he did so with alliances and friendships- although there was no shortage of times where he organised a coup to replace one who opposed him with one who supported him- and much of the power was shared out. This way, if someone was to oppose him, they would oppose the other kingdoms of the Reach as well.
Only one king remained, King Garlach of Dredach Hall. And he would not submit under any terms. Finally, due to Cinaod's reluctance to solve this with militaristic action, Garlach moved his forces into the territory of the other united kingdoms. Cinaod then had to move his own forces to oppose him, and was forced to take up the mantle of a military leader, albeit with the help of his uncle Andrag, and other advisers.
He met Garlach on the ford of Trasnig and formed a spearwall on the opposite side, with himself on the frontlines. Garlach charged across the ford and battered Cinaod's line for an hour. Unbeknownst to him, however, there was a small bridge just a mile away from the ford. Cinaod ordered Faodri to lead a quarter of his forces around that bridge and come to the ford, attacking Garlach's forces from behind, trapping them in the ford.
Cinaod's reputation was now one of a warrior as well as a politician. Many saw him fight Garlach in single combat on the banks of Trasnig, and saw him deal a mortal blow to the king of Dredach. A few whisper that Garlach had cast down his sword, seeing his men surrounded, and that Cinaod slew him without mercy, seeing him as a thorn in his side. However, these whispers are barely heard, as Garlach was prickly and made few friends, where as Cinaod was surrounded by trusted comrades. People prefer to hear the version of history they like.

Cinaod was crowned in Locrabail as High King of the Reachman at the age of 26. He chose the fiercest warriors in each kingdom of the Reach; firstly so that no kingdom would feel left out, and also so that, in the case that one king did rebel, their greatest warrior would be killed in an instant. However this was never spoken of, and Cinaod celebrated his kingship by rebuilding Locrabail to the great keep it had been before, and built a shrine to commemorate the Old Gods. He sent out priests of the Old Religion to Jehenna and Markarth, trying to re-convert the people there to the Old Ways, so they would be more willing to take up arms should the need arise. The priests gave money and charity to those in poverty, and so, even if the kings disapprove of Cinaod, the lower classes would support him.

His (half)brother:

Name: Faodri mac Dargail ua Mogrin

Age: 25

Title: Champion of the Reach

Appearance: Clean shaven with black hair hanging loose over his shoulders. Only decorated with one scar, going from his left temple to his chin. At 6"2' he poses a towers over most Reachman, and the careless smile which always remains on his face shows a lack of regard for others. He has the green eyes of the ua Morgrin. At his side he carried two steel blades.

Personality: Arrogant, although not without cause. He supports his brother, although no-one knows why. He loves to fight, but he will not bluster about it first, instead remaining quiet with that lazy smile of his, occasionally mocking, and then killing without mercy.

Skills: Faodri was created by the Old Gods for a single purpose: to kill. His entire skill-set is one which perfects the art of death in combat, and he has spent many years perfecting it.

Backstory: After killing one his father's fiercest raiders at the age of eleven in single combat, he was forced to be banished. He went east, challenging the Reachman and Orc champions to single combat. At first he was inexperienced and only won by the skin of his teeth, but over time he grew, as did his taste for blood. He then came into Skyrim, but was nearly arrested after killing the Nord instead of stopping at first blood. His excuse that the first blood was the Nord's head coming off did not persuade the guardsmen, who he killed with a weary sigh. He then traveled to places he will not speak of, since they do not interest him aside from the fights he had. When Cinaod became king of Locrabail, he sent out a request for Faodri to return home, which he did, as he was growing bored of fight after fight for no purpose. He then became one of Cinaod's bodyguards and led more than one raid or attack for him. When Cinaod became High King, Faodri was chosen first as a member of the king's bodyguard.

His (half)sister

Name: Uille nic Dargail ua Morgrin

Age: 21
Title: Princess of the Reach

Appearance: Considered beautiful by Reachman standards, she has a heart-shaped face and green eyes. She wears her raven-black fair to her waist. She stands at 5"8', tall for a woman of the Reach, but not overly so.

Personality: She has a devilish wit to match Cinaod and they can often be heard verbally sparring in private. Having grown up under the wing of Cinaod, she also possesses his cynicism and mistrustful nature, although she is slightly better at hiding it.

Skills: Skilled with words and phrases, her main skill is in her charisma. While they would not admit this, many of the Kings joined with Cinaod in hope to have her hand, although there were finer looking women. She is also one of his chief advisers due to her astuteness in politics.

Backstory: When Cinaod moved to Locrabail, Dargail commanded that Uille would go with him. There, she learned politics from an early age and grew up among Cinaod's scheming, sometimes joining in. Through time, she became Cinaod's shadow, always there at meetings, showing subtle hints to the other kings in order to get their blood boiling. Cinaod knew that these skills would be gone once she was married and so she remains untouched at the age of twenty two.

His (step)uncle

His Uncle

Name: Cuogid mac Fara ua Brenig

Age: 52

Title: High Priest of the Old Gods

Appearance: A long, greying beard reaches down to the stomach of this robe-clad man. He has twinkly blue eyes covered by bushy eyebrows. His hair, almost completely grey, crawls down his back.

Personality: On the surface, he appears to be a doddering old man, repeating the words of the Old Gods. Underneath, he is ruthless and politically astute to a level even Cinaod is not aware of. He is passionate about his beliefs to the Old Gods, but kings and priests alike treat him with respect, as they know his power to undermine.

His cousin:

Name: Isea mac Hegha ua Brenig

Age: 19

Title: Steward of the Reach

Appearance: Gold hair frames her face, and she is finely decorated. At 5'4" she is of an average height and build for a woman of the Reach.

Personality: Idealistic and cheerful, she always sees the best in people, something which sets her out from the rest of her family. Should she have any other personality, she would have been considered bossy. However, people rush to do her commands because she is likeable. Devoutly believes in the Old Gods, but will not talk about them too much, preferring to keep it to herself. She has a good relationship with Uille, although she is slightly jealous of her looks and demeanor.

Skills: While she does not have the desirability of Uille, she can work out the most efficient ways to organise and many look to her for advise, including Cinaod, who appointed her as his steward.

Backstory: Brought up with six older brothers and two younger, she never felt left out, as she was always the pride and joy of the family. She soon became involved with the political affairs and was betrothed to a king's son in order for an alliance to take place. However, her betrothed was killed in a coup. She never considered herself as a distraction, although her brothers did, and took it to Cinaod, who laughed it off, claiming that the king's son had already organised another betrothal. The brothers who had challenged him soon found themselves on the front lines at Transig ford, alongside Cinaod, where they perished. Isea does not suspect a thing though, and holds Cinaod in highest regard.

His Cousin:

Name: Merchid mac Hagha ua Brenig

Age: 26

Title: Master of Commerce

Appearance: Slightly chubby, with a cheerful smile and sandy hair. He wears gaudy clothes, and a moustache. He is an average height for a Reachman male at 5'8".

Personality: Many of the Reachman would frown upon such Breton clothes, but Merchid's light-hearted manner and cheer personality soothes them. That, and his ability to make coin.

Skills: Merchid is a trader through and through. He knows where to find coin and how to make it.

Backstory: The youngest of a generation involving seven warrior brothers, he was constantly expected to do the same. However, he was also born with a rebellious streak and so went to Farrun to begin his trading career. After a year or so there, he was chased out by the local gangs for being more corrupt than they. From there he travelled- always guarded by his personal warriors- and made investments in every city he came to. He became rich, filthily so, and then started to meddle in the affairs of the big businesses.
That was when he realised he grew too arrogant, too soon. Without the backing of the nobility or the state, Merchid fell within a month of his opposition and was chased back across High Rock to the Reach, where he heard that Cinaod was now High King. They had always got on, so when the little merchant appeared in the halls of Locrabail, Cinaod placed him as Master of Commerce, as there were not many Reachman who were as involved with money as Merchid. He was unfazed by the rumours that Cinaod had killed his brothers, as they had little affection between them.

House Allies: The other Kings in the Reach

House Strength: Together, the ten kingdom can put forward an army of eight hundred men each, creating a total of eight thousand, although one kingdom is under the reign of Jehenna. They have a limited amount of ships, something Cinaod is hoping to change.

House history:
The Clan Direnni started out in the small Village of Tyrigel on Summerset Isle. From there we grew accomplishing many things until we came to High Rock with many other Altmer. There we became traders and gained much wealth and influence. Once that was ours we became lords of Daggerfall and members of our clan were the first to sit upon its throne and rule its castle from where we spread across High Rock and the Illiac Bay.

Our Hegemony spread through Volenfell and Skyrim all the way to Cyrodiil where we fought the Barbaric Allesian Empire. Our Numbers where bolstered by Ayleids who came to us seeking aid and joined us in our cause. We pushed for the Heartlands and at the Great Battle of Glenumbria Moors we defeated them. But then the tide turned against us as the numbers of Manmer grew too great and ours to little. We were overwhelmed and over the following centuries lost kingdom after kingdom after kingdom. The Manmer lost the lands of Volenfell and Skyrim and Cyrodiil after we were expelled and soon we were reduced back to our Isle. Once the core of an Empire now it is our Tower, Our Stronghold, Our Prison.

House crest/coat of arms: a large black dagger pointed downward above the head of a golden lion on a green canvas

House history: This house has started with a bad repute on, their name was dirt. All because Feron Caroric had attempted to kill the previous kings of high rock. As always I love this sort of Rp and would enjoy it thoroughly... The only worry I would have is in its originality but I'm sure that the TES world is full of appropriate inspiration...

Do you have any suggestion on how to make it original?

Maybe set it in a more unusual time like the beginning of the Allesian Empire when Allesia is still alive... but dying possibly to make it a more tense situation politically

That could work. Or perhaps when Elsweyr was a load of different kingdoms, just before aquinia and peletine came along

Setting it during the Interregnum period would be interesting, eventually leading to a different third empire (if at all)...

well, maybe a Hammerfell which the revolt of Stros M'kai had successfully freed Hammerfell. The nobles of the land 'politically kill' each other in 'political battles' of your 'political war' for supremacy over the Redguards.

Then its High Rock anyway Rofl. No province beats in terms of politics... Or we could do it like High Rock and Hammerfell for racial tensions.

Then I can say that I will do my best to bring Daggerfall to become the supreme ruler of High Rock ^^ (if we're going with High Rock that is...)
