With the recent news on pre-orders, we thought we'd whip up the weekly polls again. How do you feel about the drastic change -- factions no longer being locked to specific races?

I don't like it.
If it were just Imperials it make sense but from a lore prospective having a nord Group in AD is strange... and what about Altmer fighting against their summerset; i really can't fit this in the lore.

This decision just throws any faction loyalty or pride out the window. The races made the factions unique and it was something that only they had and made choosing a faction something other then playing favorites among races. It got players involved in the story and gave them a certain ownership knowing that other factions did not have what they had. And that's gone. It's just...gone... Who cares about the faction's backstories, history, lore. Who cares about loyalty. It's all completely pointless because it doesn't matter anymore.

Faction & Race:
Not Set
It would be pretty odd if a race ended up with a higher population outside its own faction, this makes that a possibility.. I haven't been following the game closely as of late but can't say I like the change.

It means ZOS is letting players join any faction as any race for a a quick buck... As if they weren't getting enough anyway...

I don't really mind. I was okay with them being locked, I'm okay with them not being locked if you by the Collector's Edition.

There's something to that, but most players will not buy the CE and will have their races faction locked and foremost - lots of very local people have been complaining that races should not be faction locked. 50+ and 50++ content was not enough for them, they continued to complain and it paid off for them. They got what they wanted, for good or ill. If somebody has to be blamed, then them.

With the CE content release announcement yesterday. Players who buy that can play as an Imperial in all factions or with any other race in any faction. No faction locks for them.

At least Imperial character can be bought also later in the game store with the same ability to play in any faction from the beginning.

Many vocal people complained loudly for years, demanding it. That's why.

I worry for the PvP part. how do we know who is with what alliance? Besides it is very immersion breaking...

Would not mind for the PvE part but its awfully in-compliant with the lore... A Nord in AD territory and vice-versa... NOT.

But see, while I do agree with you in some ways, I don't think you should get something just because you cry and whine about it. So you want to join the AD as a Nord from the get-go. It doesn't make sense, breaks the lore, and requires no effort on the part of the player. Before this blunder you'd have to, like you had mentioned, get to level 50. At that point you can still go into other faction territory. But you have to put the time in and earn it, while at the same time gaining a respect for the said faction whether you'd liked it beforehand or not. Or, perhaps a simpler option. MAKE AN ALT, and get over it. Hey maybe you'll find that you really enjoy the race of said alt. But through this stupid loophole people can just avoid it.
