What do we know about sneak in PvP? Does anybody know how that will work? What do you think?

I can't see sneak having any much effect in PvP cause obviously us characters will see what we see, with the game having no idea if we see an opponent or not until we make an interaction with said opponent. I'm not really sure how they'll implement it to work...

Yes, I´ve got a hard time seeing how this will work but it sounds like there will be sneak in PvP.

You go invisible to enemy players and a silhouette for your own team, the system is based on stamina and how close you are to enemy players and their line of sight. You will be ejected from sneak once your attacked or attack, when your stamina runs out and when the enemy is in spotting range.

But remember invisibility will be different to sneaking

Okay. Thank you for that information, much appreciated!

THe sneak will work on a range/stamina system that is determined by your sneak skill and armor etc.

Basically if you have a high sneak skill and are in light or medium armour the distance before you are detected is smaller.
over a certain distance from an enemy you will be completely invisible. within a range (determined by stats above) you will be visible as a shade, once you take or give out damage, even this will go.
This is going to be an amazing thing for ambush tactics in PvP especially if you are a ranged damage dealer.

Does anyone know if we are getting things like headshots in this game? or is it a flat hit or not hit damage mechanic?

Sneak in PvP will work differently to say Skyrim. When you sneak in PvP, even if an enemy looks straight at you you will be invisible, completley invisible. Instead, to find the sneaking target, you will use the spell magelight which will reveal the target to you. (Shoddycast)

It might also have to do with the direction the opponent is facing.

it will probably be like stealth in WoW, you'll be invisible to the enemy (depending on varying factors like level and armor) and to yourself/teammates you'll just be crouching

By superhuman effort, you can avoid slipping backwards for a while. But one day, you'll lose a step, or drop a beat, or miss a detail... and you'll be gone forever.

By the way... Do you happen to know what the fine is here in Cyrodiil for necrophilia? Just asking.

Yep... it will depend on factors such as distance, angle to their front, being in the frontal arc (direction as you said), etc. like many MMO's do. I like having stealth in these games for PVP... always adds an extra feeling to the sense of "danger lurks in every corner" there.

The only problem with everyone using sneak is that if you're facing a group of nightblades(or any class) and their all in sneak, I can see people getting very angry over it...then that will lead to nerfs and then the PvE community wont be happy.

You could say the same thing of four anything against one person, really. Four Sorcs nuking you... four stealthers nuking you... no real difference, so I don't think there should be (not that there won't be) any particular anger from it.

Yes but you will always have the ''rage'' gamers that continually scream at the devs to make everything ''fair'' due to them dying.

@ragnar-ice blood, Oh, definitely.... that's why I said there "shouldn't be" but that there will be. The truth is that there's no such thing as true balance in a multiplayer online game. Heck, even if you gave everyone a melee weapon only with a 2 second swing timer, and everyone died in one hit from it, it wouldn't be fair even though on paper it's "balanced".

You'd have people saying that it's not fair when there are multiple people they can't swing twice before one of the two enemies nails them. Or, you'd have people complaining that it encourages turtling in doorways. Then they might remove the doorways and make it an open field.... "fair" except then it becomes twitch-based feigning. The devs decide to make it two swings to give people time to react. Well, now it's just "whoever gets the first hit has a huge advantage". So, we give people ranged attacks.... now it's "fair" because everyone can use ranged, right? It reduces the twitch element by providing more of a buffer zone. That, of course, ends with its own issues....

Just like with "real" MMO game design, it's tough to say ;) unless something is so bad as to be broken, what's truly "fair" or not balance-wise in my opinion. People will always complain about what killed them for the most part... the key is for the devs to sift through the noise and pay attention to actual hard numbers with situational descriptions, as well as metrics, then apply educated judgement to situations rather than react directly. People tend to view these issues from their viewpoint and theirs only, rather than thinking of how it affects the game as a whole, or even just the other side of the fight, what they did wrong & right that caused it, etc.

Issue there will be with sneaking PvP is that the concept of "backstabbing" will be null. Nobody will ever hold still long enough that you can sneak up to them.

Another issue is that an army will always sneak there 100 or so people up to a castle. They don't need to be good at it, but use it so that they can not be spotted from a distance. It will make for rather strange metas. ..
