Will mining places be fields of rocks were people mine or just spawn randomly across the world? And if there are fields are they in mini-dungeons like in Skyrim?

I am not sure the information is released yet, But I do believe the rocks will spawn semi-randomly, basically they will have a massive amount of spawn locations and will randomly spawn at one of those locations. Its the most ideal way to keep certain resources where they should be and still have them scatter appropriately.

Maybe they could use GW2 system where the resources are "phased" with your character and everyone can gather them - it avoids people stealing gathers while you are trying to clear the area from mobs to get'em.

I really liked that idea... but i also like high end craftables to feel special.. if you struggle to gather resources due to competition from other players then your goods in theory are worth more economically and sentimentally. In addition it'll take us longer to reach the max level in crafting and perhaps keep us entertained longer.

I love crafting and gathering in all games, I hope it is as profitable and interesting as it is in Everquest 2. I am one rich little babe thanks to my high gathering/crafting ability and the players market. I've bought a lot of really nice stuff for my houses & chars to wear and hope to be able to do so in ESO as well. Here's hoping ...

That's easy: "Rare" or end-lvl raw materials could drop from dangerous areas such caves or places with hard access. I agree with you and I don't thinkg ESO will have problems with toxic players but that kind of quest like "get X itens from Y chest over map" are annoying because you are cleaning the mobs and someone just go there and loot - same for crafting materials. Since lvl 50 you'll be able to explore the whole map it would be a problem if someone just "camp" killing people that are trying to explore and gather resources - But still think that raw material rarity should come from the effort you put on exploring instead just grinding gear and killing people after. It would be cool for those who rush lvl cap but would'nt be nice for the ones who are PvE'rs. But since there is no world map pvp on ESO I think gather won't be a problem with other factions trying to kill you. The problem is looters from your own faction, and since you can't kill them (or block them somehow) it enhance the toxic actions - Why would someone explore and kill mobs if you can wait someone do it for you and just go there steal it? I would acept the "looter" option just if I would be able to steal him/her or kill him/her for the same reasons he "lootered" me.

Maybe, just maybe, the answer would be the Wildstar "Path system". But since the game is fresh we don't have enough information about gather materials yet.

I cant remember where I heard this but I think they said that plants will re-spawn quickly but may not always be in the spot. I don't know if this is how they plan to do their mining. I'm thinking what Avidus said is what their planning on.

I hope personally that the "special" resources and materials can be found in Cyrodill and normal ones in mini-dungeons with big mining areas were Mobs can spawn and attack you like they did in Runescape.

Well considering there is no world pvp to fight over nodes...there will just be same faction node stealing which imo is worse..they should make it phased for this reason like gw2..or world pvp..but we cant have now that would make all the carebears sad Haha...phased nodes it is agreed?

I would like to see caves and dungeons bandit hideouts tombs etc to spawn nodes so if you are after specific mats you go to a specific dungeon be it a nature cave for herbs...or a mine for well minerals..would make you explore and you can gather same time.

Well i said something similar not everything, and mining shouldn't be "Action based" its more of a social thingy were you meet other people while your getting resources. And if its really boring you can have monsters pop up, i remember Runescape Classic (2d) back then Mining wasn't that boring.

Thats what i would like implemented throughout the entire world to gather 'morrowind mushrooms' one must travel to morrowind...etc etc.

Yes I agree, that only makes sense. Highland wild flowers should only grow in Skyrim, I'm sure Black Marsh if probably chock full of flora we have never heard of before, Morrowind has it's mushrooms, etc.

I really hope that mining nodes don't just stick out of the ground in the middle of a grassy plain. Honestly, I felt that it was silly to walk through the barrens and a piece of ore was just jutting up from the middle of a field. I'm thinking that they might do it like skyrim and have them be built into the rocks and sides of mountains.

As to answer the question, I have no clue. But I assume they might be more like random spawns across the world. That way all players can have a chance at getting an equal share of ore.
