I couldn't find another topic on this so just wondering how long do the grey beards live for and how many have there been?

Well, since the Greybeards are ordinary humans it may be assumed that they have the normal life-span of Nords (although probably longer than the average Nord, since they live peacefully and in seclusion from the troubles of the world).

How many there might have been – who can tell? But if the order was active all the time from its founding by Jurgen Windcaller in the First Era, up to 201 4E (meaning at least 1.530 years), probably several hundred.

pretty much this also keep in mind that the population of the graybeards in skyrim is, like the rest of the world, downsized heavily.
In reality there would be alot more.
Its a pretty big monestary afterall.

also before the greybeards, there have been tongues. So yeah the tradition of the Thu uhm goes back all the way to atmora where kyne, according to the nord, gifted them with it.

Its very likely they'll make an appearance in ESO. They're an important part of Skyrim, so it'd be highly surprising to me if they didnt at least make a minor appearance. Whether they'll be an important part of any story or not is another matter.

As a side note someone said there were no Shouts in TESO, siince there was no one to teach them. But Tiber Septim was Dragonborn which all have shouts, and he is after this time. So that argument doesn't hold water. So if they include the Greybeards should they allow maybe as an endgame content, the ability to learn a shout?

as long as it is not unrelenting force or any other strong ass shout i am okay with it...
i mean, come on... if there would be shouts in TESO then half of the time we would be flying across tamriel

id say have the thu uhm be a racial for the nord.
the equivalent power of "fus" or "fus ro" at best.

Id like that. would fit in.
In the second era the influence of the tongues was not quite as withered as in the third.

as for the graybeards appearing in the game: we dont know. But i would find it likeley for them to pop up during your main quest.
