Racial skill lines

Have we seen any details about the racial skill trees? All I know is that there will be such things and that excites me. I'm loving my most recent SkyRe modded playthrough of Skyrim and it has some awesome lore-friendly, yet unique takes on racial abilities. It reminds me of how I wish MMOs would stop homogenizing racial abilities. It's one of the easiest ways for us to distinguish ourselves in battle and in an RP setting.

Here's to hoping the racial skill trees are unique and interesting!

not a fan of SkyRe myself but i can see alot beeing made there.
There are two ways to go with that.
either make it fun little gimmicks like in GW2. thats totaly fine at least it doesnt fuck up balance.

or go all out with it and have some realy great racials that are not just racials but also based on culture.

For example a Khajiit could learn the monk ways of the claw, a Redguard could learn the old techniques of Yokuda (no spirit sword tho, that would be OP) a Dunmer could summon his ancestor spirits, a bosmer call forest animals to help and an argonian could mutate mid fight.

Crazy stuff like that would indeed be fun. but lets see how they handle that.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm hoping for. The weapon skill lines, the pvp skill lines, those lend themselves to a more balanced approach to things. The racial and guild skill trees could be really interesting.

Side question @Sordak, what would an Argonian mutation be like?

Mostly hist skin.
what i say now is speculative NOT something directly mentioned in the lore but if an argonian were to take hist sap in combat. chances are he could rapidly enhance his abilities.

again. nothing official here.

Oh, I wasn't asking for anything official. It's fun to speculate. The fact is that the abilities of the races in TES games lend themselves to some really awesome (potential) skill lines. I'd hate to see this handled in a bland way.

edit: I suppose I was asking for an official response in the original post, but I'm pretty sure there isn't any info available yet. I think I've read, watched, and listened to all info about the game that's out there.

So let me sum that up:

There is\are

a class skill\perk tree
a racial skill\perk tree
optional vampire or werewolf trees
skill trees of heavy/light armor, the schools of magic and weaponry like we know from Skyrim
and skill trees of the four crafting schools

Is that correct?

We do, we do

Who knocked Yokuda off the maps?
Who keeps the Dwemer under wraps?
We do, we do

Its like this

3 Class skill lines, I shall list DK as we know those

- Ardent Flame
- Draconic Power
- Earthen Heart

6 Weapon skill Lines

- Two Handed weapons
- Dual Wield
- 1h and Shield
- Bow
- Destruction Staff
- Restoration Staff

3 Armor skill lines

- Light armor
- Medium armor
- Heavy armor

3 PvP skill lines

- Battle prowess
- Siege weaponry
- Leadership

2 Guild skill lines

- Mages guild
- Fighters guild

1 Racial Skill line

2 Disease (lol) skill lines

- Vampirism
- Lycanthropy

From what we have seen so far, class and weapon lines have 5 active (incl 1 ultimate in case of class lines) and 5 passive skills, armor lines have 1 active and 5 passive, rest we havent seen yet

Crafting is separated from all this

Wait, we have another skill line/tree based on our race? That should be interesting... I wonder what they'll think of?

By arrow. By blade.
By tooth. By claw.
By shock. By frost. By flame.
The Aldmeri Dominion will dominate Tamriel.
Our enemies will fall until the Throne is ours.

I expect the usual racial abilities will be in the skill trees, such as the Night Eye for Kajiit, but who knows what else we'll see. This should be interesting.

No info on racials yet, but excited to see them. For some reason I thought there was also skills based on weapon type (slash, blunt, axe) but I could be totally off. It's either that or the perks on the one hand and two hand line have different bonuses depending on the weapon choice

Race skill lines would be sweet.. Also covenant specific skill lines would also add to one's identity on the battlefield.

All I know is that if Breton's have the 50% resistance to magic racial bonus, they are looking mighty sexaay. Retractable claws as a race skill....not so much. Werewolves with claws as a racial skill....mmm... maybe. Let me just say that I like the possibilities. The more the better.

For the PvP skill lines:

I figure that the majority of players will go for the Battle Prowess skill line. A decent bit for Leadership. Anyone, like myself really want to rock that Siege Weapon skill line?? I think it could easily be the most fun. And crucial. You can bet that you would have to defend those vital siege weapons with your life (lives) so there's a good adrenaline rush for ya. Oh, and blowing @#$! up a la Michael Bay!

Considering the skills revealed, we are probably looking at a fair mix of active and passive abilities again. Unless they surprise us with trees full of passive 5% boosts.

The decision however is not which skill player is player going to have, but more likely in which priority he will obtain them. For organized PvP guilds I can easily see support players picking different active buffs from PvP - Leadership line to "superbuff" the squad before shock attack

Are we sure its going to be a skill line rather than a passive an maybe one active ability like in the past games?
