Is it just me, or do I feel like the majority of everyone who wants to get in beta just do so to get to play the game? Sure, a lot of people can say that they actually are there to test the game out & there are people who just want to play. Which turns me to another question, if everyone does just want to get into beta to play the game, wouldn't that spoil the game to begin with? If so, why would anybody WANT to get into beta?

It sounds very contradictory, but people actually do just want to get into beta just to play the game not do what they're supposed to do which is test the game out.

Back in Feb, I wrote an article about being a tester, and how people will want to play the game. Beta is our way as gamers to give the feedback on what we want to see, the testers are the ones who determine how well the game is at launch.

I truly hope that ESO does have a dedicated select few that will be in every test otherwise if you bring in new people, who will have a learning curve to the game, will be in shock and awe and won't actually be testing the features you want them to test, the quality of testing would go down.

myself, I wouldn't play the race of my choice during beta to prevent spoilers. We actually discussed this last night during gaming with friends, and we all agreed that the testing is to get rid of annoying stuff, influence the game and find bugs / glitches / exploits etcetra. Then you can discuss the balance and contribute into making the game better overall prior to actually playing it. Your reward? You're starting off as a player with hours dedicated to the game already, this puts you ahead of others, and as MMORPG's are usually of competitive nature, you're going to enjoy kicking newbies around in Cyrodil.

The downside of these things is that some clans (*coughs* you know who you are) don't actually report glitches such as dup bugs, but save them for the game to exploit. That needs to be stopped.

Motivation to see/play, to peak at your presents, is fine as long as you remember to contribute with feedback and purposefully hunt for bugs to report. They don't have to be mutually exclusive, "work" doesn't have to be void of motivation.

That said, it would be interesting if the developers didn't re-invite people who didn't provide feedback in some way.

wrong.
i want to get in as soon as possible so there wont be that many other testers. because that means im more likeley to get heard. and thats what feedback is all about.
Getting the word to the dev. Improving on the product. Sure i want to play too.
But thats not the only motivation.

I can't agree with that more haha. I always found any of the beta's I've been in there's a disconnect between the devs and the community. Honestly, more than anything, if I were to get in beta I would merely want response or some form of communication between me & the devs to speak about the problem instead of submit things like bee drones giving their amount of nectar to the hive. Not to mention it'd, I think, encourage players to seek out bugs and really do what they're there for instead of act like it's a free pass to play.

Well, I think that the beta testers, whoever the lucky sons-o'-b*&%$%&*'s may be, will find that ZOS is very receptive to suggestions and commentary. Look how they have changed the faction lock to not being so after level 50 .... they have responded to the outcry by many that the inability to traverse freely is anit-Elder Scrolls. I think that is darn well receptive to fans just coming from forum complaints before the game is even out - I suspect they really have their ear to the ground.

TESO - - Multiplayer: "M'aiq does not know this word. You wish others to help you in your quest? Coward! If you must, search for the Argonian Im-Leet, or perhaps the big Nord, Rolf the Uber. They will certainly wish to join you." M'aiq the Liar.

"Va Khaj Dar - Khajiity's united? M'aiq will join!" M'aiq the Liar

yea, I just wanna play the game, but, naturally, I would run into bugs/things I don't like along the way, and I'll always submit that feedback anyawys, so, the game naturally improves by me just palying it.

Basically everyone summed it up... We have to remember how the beta is working too. It's not like they're throwing you into the entire game and letting you play everything. They're FORCEFULLY making people play multiple areas wherever they feel they need feedback and improvement. These stages are most crucial during beta because all of the tester's words and ideas impact the game and opinions of the Devs heavily.

So of course we all want to play, but we all want to improve the game as well in the "general" opinions view.
