Introduction
This is – as the title suggests – all about books. Though I had a few ideas which could make books in TESO something that the players could get involved in themselves. Possibly even make a mark on history. . but that probably won’t happen with what I have in store.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Be A Writer
Basically – anybody can write their own book to be put out into the world. It will be published by the guild of writers which is essentially a democracy of things to be published. I have a sneaky way to add this guild into lore too. You are able to take parchment and ink and create a book however many pages long you wish it to be. It would even be possible to go into photo-shop or other editing software to create a picture in black & white for your story to add some detail for the more professional writers. I will get into the publishing system in the “Renowned Scribe” section.

Writer’s Guild
The writer’s guild is an independent organization which does not concern themselves with the wars of the three alliances. They reside in Cyrodil, however, so even though they do not concern themselves for the war – they are affected by it. The other reason why I would put this Guild here is so that everyone has access to it. This guild serves as a meeting ground for all writers from every corner of Tamriel. These writers are of course us the players. Each player who writes books are graded by their peers (other players) who also write books. The books with the highest of ratings get put through the Guild to be published to others. When a book is published, they have the chance to be seen by ZOS & Bethesda writers. They then might even decide whether or not to put your book (or the books of the community) into the next game even. This would of course be a very difficult thing to achieve and would require a VERY well done book to be seen by the writers of Bethesda & ZOS. All books that get good ratings and are published to the Guild on the other hand – anybody can read them in the game. All the books published would have the opportunity to be read by the writers though and put into the next game even.

Now of course – this “writers guild” has to fall somehow as it isn’t noted in the later games. That’s why it is placed in Cyrodil. In Talos’ conquest – the guild’s main headquarters is turned into a smoldering ruin. That includes all records and accounts be burned so that history may not know of it any longer. A sneaky way to put it into lore without actually having record of it to be sure. Players books that have been published still have the chance to carry on through history into the later games if Bethesda writers wish to do that. If not – oh well, at least we get to read each other’s possibly epic stories.

Renowned Scribe
People are given a sign of approval or a disavow from other writers in the guild. Signs of approval & disavows from other writers are weighed differently depending on the works they have done and how good of a writer they are. In other words – you can’t be shot down or brought up by a bad critic. If someone gets enough signs of approval from established writers and casual writers alike; their book becomes published in the guild as stated above. If someone is to get too many disavows for his writing – he becomes cast out of the guild until a later date or never to be able to return again. It would sort out the good writers from the bad pretty quickly I think. & again – how important your disavow or sign of approval would be is dependent on how much of a renowned writer you are. If somebody just disapproves everyone’s work and writes nothing good on his own then his vote means little to nothing. Same goes for someone who just gives everyone signs of approval.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Conclusion
I just feel with how many great lore stories people have already made – a way to make their stories be heard inside the game would be a lovely addition. Not to mention, I thoroughly enjoy the stories people make for TES, and I’d love to see those stories be given a lot of notoriety. =)

I love this idea!

By arrow. By blade.
By tooth. By claw.
By shock. By frost. By flame.
The Aldmeri Dominion will dominate Tamriel.
Our enemies will fall until the Throne is ours.

well.
Most stuff people write is bullshit.
especialy the homebrew stuff.

Gotta be carefull with that. So you might call me out on this since i did alot of homebrew stuff at all but i gotta say i tend to go into detail about not going against anything previously established.

its not like there is no such thing as an out of game writers guild.
there is the TIL scholars guild and there is also Temple Zero society thats delivering class A monkeytruth.

That's why I would introduce something of a ranking system. People who be given a sign of approval from other writers in the guild. So, if a very well-established writer were to give a sign of approval it would be much more heavily weighted then someone who just writes different version of the lusty argonian maid. I just feel it could be grounds for stories of epic battles that take place. Or even stories on a person's background gone into great detail. While I'm sure a lot of people would abuse this opportunity - I think it would also give a lot of people the chance to let their story shine.

You could even make a system where people can disavow another writer for his work. If he is to get too many disavows for his writing - he becomes cast out of the guild until a later date or never to be able to return. It would sort out the good writers from the bad pretty quickly I think. & again - how important your disavow or sign of approval would be is dependent on how much of a renowned writer you are. thing is. people dont know whats good and whats not.
People would downvote something like the teachings of marukh cause its weird and they dont understand it.

But upvote some silly story just cause its got memorable characters.
People are too incompetent to influence the lore.
leave it to the lorumites.
were good at it.

I updated the main post to give everyone a bit of a better idea of what I mean by a renown system to writers.

People couldn't just boost and downvote other people just because they don't understand it at all. This entire idea is specifically FOR writers and people who are influenced and KNOW the lore. Someone who doesn't write any good stories would have NO influence on the chance of something being published or not. As I've edited in the main post - someone who is essentially an idiotic troll wouldn't be able to troll in any way. That is due to them needing to be a renowned writer in order for their opinion to matter to other writer's books. It would be set up so that you'd never be shot down or brought up by bad criticism.
