i can agree with qallidex.

As for AmericanAvron, and i have to add here why on earth would you call yourself american? its like calling yourself fat retard when the rest of the world is concerned, im not sure if youll have an easy time if you havent played a TES game as of yet.

the thing is. The TES community is vocal. And to a point that you might not forsee. On the outside. TES looks like every other RPG series, just that its a bit more oldschoolw ith the first person camera and all that.
The thing is tho. It has one of the most creative, but also probably the most bitter fanbase of them all.
And that fanbase is very much educated about ALL the games, ALL the lore and ALL the bits in between. Thats how TES rolls.
This is mainly due to one former developer who said Ok, lets take the lore of an RPG, and add drugs and rock n roll.

And therfor, the fan base got attached to it, but also got attached to the, somewhat clunky, ah who am i fooling , its pretty damn clunky, gameplay of the elder scrolls. There was a HUGE outcry when it was said that there would not be a first person camera.

Like. Imagien if Blizzard announced that there would no longer be Instances in WoW. thats pretty much how big the outcry was. Just for that little thing.

And the developers know that and they are catering to this hard. There is all kind of TES related stuff in there, such as stealing stuff from NPCs, letting NPCs die, Attacking per mouseclicks, and also a camera that is controlled by the mouse all the time opposed to a fixed one.
The Lands will be nothing like you would probably like in another MMORPG. they have to s tay very true to the Series. wich means that, for one inside one province chances are you will not see an awfull lot variety if you arent talking about elsweyr.
Skyrim will pretty much look like in the game, you wont see a desert area thrown in there because all snow got stale, like games such as WoW handle it.
And also. there will be countries such as Morrowind, and morrowind is... weird. And unfriendly, and racist, and deadly, and absoluteley beautifull, but its probably only absoluteley beautifull if youve played a decade old game with a terrible combat system and sub par graphics not to mention the story thats quite bonkers.

Im not saying you shouldnt try this game, in fact i say you should play this game at ALL costs. But im saying you should brace yourself, and your guild, for something quite different from other MMORPGs, maybe not too much in the core gameplay itself. But very much so in the details, in the story and the feel of the world.
And of course the fanbase.

Just to get this out: if you want to make a suggestion here, better double check the lore if its apropriate.

Do you really find it necessary to put that "signature" at the bottom of every single post? ... I mean, really?

That's the point of a signiture. Its supposed to be at the bottom of every post.

Yes, but his isn't in his signature, he's just copy/pasting it into every post:

-Qallidex
Master of the UNIVERSE
http://Qallidexisthemasteroftheuniverse.com
@Qallidexrocksoutwithhiscockout

Does this site allow sigs? I honestly haven't checked. I just figured it probably doesn't which is why he's doing it that way.

And in responce to Sordak:

I loved Morrowind and everything about it. Even its clumbsy combat system. I also thought that the graphics were better than anything I had seen before (when I first played it in 2002-03 ish. Even today I still think the game is beautiful. Then again I still like the graphics of arena and Daggerfall. I may have started TES with Morrowind, but I am a trueblood fan of the series and will be till the day I die.

Several years ago, probably early 2008, my mate and I had a discussion about what could possibly make us quit wow sometime in the future. My only responce that I could think of was "if The Elder Scrolls made some sort of MMO like wow.Think of it: Oblivion as an MMO!" I stand true to that statement except replace Oblivion with Skyrim.

You should consider at least playing Skyrim, its a great game and should give you some insight into the world of Tamriel, perhaps your players with experience in Elder Scrolls could give you some insight as well.

I've always been a bit sad that I was never able to play Arena and Daggerfall. But out of the last 3 I would say that Morrowind was my favorite. Even if it was ugly, there was just something magical about that game.

But I would definitely pick up Skyrim and play it if you've never played ES. If nothing else, it will get you used to the combat system and the feel of TES. The MMO is probably not going to be as dark as the single player games but it will be nothing like WoW.

Qal, he's recruiting for his guild and our siggy space isn't long enough for all that info, I think it's totally appropriate.

Avron, since you mention possibly joining the Daggerfall Covenant, you may be interested to play the game Daggerfall to really get the feel for that north-western trader region as well as look as the great lore sources everyone is suggesting. Daggerfall recently has been released for download for modern computers ... just google Daggerfall download. I haven't tried it since I have the Daggerfall box game; but I have heard of people nowadays enjoying it.

Thanks for the information

Yes I use the signature as a way to recruit since the current wouldnt fit it all -

Qal, if my signature bothers you THAT much, you will have a hard time in life :-) - it's just a game

As for my name American. Quite a few of our gamers have died, yes died, overseas, or are serving. Most of our raiding names may be call signs or other meaningful phrases regarding the Navy and Marines. If this offends you, God help you.

Our group has played MUDs before (multi-user dungeons) where you have to not only read/follow the lore, but also be keen on inspecting everything. We used this same mentality in EQ.

Our WoW guild actually ended in 2007 - but we still play on a private server "Wow-One.com" as the top guild. It's a vanilla server, no expansions, just 40 man raids.

I plan on playing two of the Elder Scrolls games before release just to understand the style/lore. I appreciate everyone's input, very kind of you to help a new comer.

Luckily, a large portion of our guild has played Skyrim or others, so we may have help there, but as the GM I was just looking for more information.

(Thanks to the Moderator for the Signature help)
Regards,

No, it's a forum dedicated to a game, and how much exactly?

Sordak what gives you the right to disregard someones name in such a manner..then they explain to you their reasons for their name and you call it out of place.

For someone that has been on this forum for a while why are you so backward.

Im not American so dont pull that string Im not defending anyone just pity you.

Cheers, Avron. If you have any questions about the game's general premise there are many threads in pretty much every section of these forums.

The game is a blend of the singleplayer TES experience with the three faction PvP system in Dark Age of Camelot, which encouraged alliance making, backstabbing, etc. If you're into competitive large-scale PvP, this is your jam. If you like PvE, there will be plenty of that too (some with PvP functionality).

Good luck here, there's plenty to learn. Just a word of warning, TES fans live and bleed for the series, so you'll undoubtedly see plenty of posts questioning lore, gameplay dynamics, etc. The good thing is that many of those threads contain some decent info.

Its not out of place at all. For those of us who are American its considered a good thing to take pride in our armed forces. I personally know several people in the armed forces for my country and my dad lived and died early because of him fighting for this country. Being American isn't a bad thing, and its only a stereotype that we're all fat and lazy. I will admit fully I am lazy, but I'm really not that fat ^_^.

I have a lot of respect for you Sordak, but you better lose the racist (is that the right word? hating someone for being from a specific country) irl attitude. Being racist against Altmer is fine, but not fellow humans in the real world. We're all one world, and we should all respect each other.

War, sadly, is part of politics. And due to the touchy nature and potency for drama you should avoid this topic and especially refrain from discussing current acts of war.

Patriotism is fine in your own country. It could be misinterpreted, if you wave your flag somewhere else, though. Just like on an international discussion forum. A country and the bereaved have all the right to praise the fallen. But there's a time and a place for that and it's not here.

I have the deepest respect for all the men and women who sacrificed their lives for a greater cause or are risking it everyday in an attempt to make this world a safer place. Show them the respect they deserve and don't make them subject to a discussion on a petty gaming forum.
