So in previous Elder Scrolls games we have seen the Barter Skill, a fun, but tedious skill. As most of us know in ES games you can drastically reduce buying prices, or raise item sell prices, using the infamous Enchantment, and Alchemy Skills to temporarily increase your speech level.

The question is how will this work Player to Player? will there be universal item prices depending on item strength, but that fluctuate do to Supply and Demand at the time of trade.

So kind of like what some of us saw after they added the Grand Exchange System into Runescape, which WAS an awesome game. or will we see a more traditional Runescape method where everyone just stands in a notorious market area and states what they're selling and for what price. (I loved traditional Runescape, as it was the first MMORPG I had ever played)

Of course we could see something entirely different, and how will these inter-player prices be affected by Speech craft?

We don't know much about the conomy yet. It is entirely possible that speech craft or Barter Skill are not even in the game, or that they function completely different from what we see in ES single player games. The good thing about Player to PLayer bartering is that you can actually Barter by talking to the person, you don't need a skill to do it.

We will have to wait and see.

Your right rs was great. Is probably the worst game out there these days.

Very interesting, so now that we know that Speech Craft will be in the game, the question that must be asked is, what kind of affect will it have on not only Player to NPC, but also Player to Player transactions.

Idk how speech craft could affect player to player transactions, not sure if that's possible.

Doubt it will affect player to player interaction, maybe they could make it so the AH takes a smaller cut of the sale the higher your speechcraft?

Economy is, IMHO, the most important part of an MMO. So many developers say theirs is the game that will finally get it right, and in every case, the economy eventually becomes just another inflationary boondoggle. So far the TESO devs have said very little about the game's economy, so I am fully prepared that it will be completely broken from the get-go.

I could create a whole post concerning an ideal MMO economy. Suffice it to say that a properly designed economy should at least encourage continued exploration of all areas of the game to gather crafting materials. If you can buy everything from the NPCs, not only are you preventing those materials from reaching a natural float price, but you are eliminating a path of player growth for those who might wish to earn money though gathering.

Economy will always be a problem in any game, because there will always be someone willing to pay more than you.
Although Im sympathetic, this is the way of the world. The game (IMHO) needs player to player sells....

That way deals can be made between crafters and resource gatherer's....
i.e. you give me this many of this.... and I will make you one of ....these.....

That way there can be a game "cash" economy, but there can also be a resource economy.
I will play in the recourse economy.

Economy is an important component of any MMO. Having the capability for players to trade with few restrictions makes players in general want to go out and see how far they can go in terms of min/maxing through high-tier crafted equipment or rare drops. Specifically to ESO however, we do not have enough information from the devs as explained in the above post to make an accurate assessment as to what the state of the ESO economy may look like. The economy will be better if the interactions within the system are tested, analyzed, and then reworked to provide an engaging environment that rewards players putting time into exploring the limits of game mechanics.

NPC batering idk how that will work. Player to Player you'll have to use your own real life bartering skills.
